Mark:
“I am light, and he is dark. And we couldn’t exist without each other”
"Ah, you've come to visit me traveler...
I've noticed your curious gaze as you passed by. Perhaps, I can quench that curiosity? That's why you've come, no?"
"Would you keep me company for a moment? I promise I won't bite."
*She begins to smile softly*
"I'd like to tell you a story...if I may?"
*You open your mouth about to refuse when she interrupts you playfully*
"Shhh...come sit with me and listen."
*She pats a paw on the rocks near her*
*You stand back for a moment, finally witnessing her full siren like body. You watch as it sways with the soft waves of the pool of water she was resting in. A warm glow coming off her markings. It was almost memorizing coming from the water, the light dancing on top the surface.*
*You begin to take a seat when she resumes*
"Humans always seem to misunderstand and fear the unknown. They don't like change, or anything different from what they're use too. One look at me, and all they would see is a monster waiting in the darkness....
...but there is always light in that darkness."
*You notice a dim glow coming off her body as she shifts.*
"The two can't exist without one another."
"I want to tell you the story about how the Sun met the Moon."
*Hair falls into the face of the Kalon, hiding her expression.
"Once, during a time when the earth was simple, the Sun shone brighter than anything. The people were grateful and admired him, he was the source of all their warmth."
*The Kalon raised her head with a look of sadness in her eyes*
"...but he was lonely. All by himself in the vast skies."
*She paused slightly as her tail twitched. Her eyes were full of wonder as her attention was drawn to you*
*You stare into her deep darkened eyes. They seemed to reflect the stars and moon. They were so full of life... You snap back to reality when she breaks the silence with a soft whisper*
"...but then, there was the Moon."
"Traveler....in this story, you are the sun."
*You shoot her a puzzled gaze. She continued.*
"Your well loved, and walk around giving warmth to those around you. The other travelers all praise your kindness, but you also travel alone... I know loneliness when I see it, as I too am lonely traveler..."*Her words dawn on you as you realize she is the moon in the story. Her intention of telling the story was to offer championship, and a story that would not end, but rather just start a new.*
This is how the sun met the moon.*
*Over time, You come to learn her name,
Cynthia
Which was Greek for 'from Mount Kynthos.' Kynthia was one of the names of Artemis, the goddess of the moon.
*On your travels together, you learn of her likes and dislikes, taking note of them.*Likes....
apple slices,
grapes,
jazz music,
swimming,
listening to me read her stories,
my good pair of socks as her chew toy...Dislikes....
noisy areas,
spiders,
lies,
extreme heat or cold. She seemed to put up a front of a mature young lady in the beginning...but as time goes on, you see she's very playful and passionate. She really likes to express her full range of emotions through body language, whether she's aware of it, I'm not sure. I'm not even sure if it's intentional or not.
When sad, her ears will drop, her eyes will cast a dull look and her tail will seem almost lifeless.
When excited, her eyes seem to shine brighter, a big smile will be spread across her lips, and her tail will start to sway playfully. Twisting in on itself and repeating. As if it can't contain her happiness.
