Well, for me it depends on the contest. For raffles, simple naming contests, or quick 50-100 word answer-the-question comps I tend to prefer really quick (30 minutes, limited page, 1 or 2 days)
For the average or simple comp like a short story, personality, song, gif, image, 250-500 word max or 1 art piece comp I prefer shorter (1- 4, maybe 5 days)
For more detail things, like a story art combo, or anything that might be upward of 500 words (Such as a background story, or a comp with extra allowed) I tend to prefer 1-2 weeks.
I tend to forget about them if they last too long (like a month), and I either have to rush to finish my entry or I take too long and can't enter because I think I have more time then forget.

contest length: I prefer very quick - short depending on the prompts. Ex raffles - less than 200 words to be limited page/30 mins- a few hours/24 hours. 1-4 days for 200+ word prompts.

contest length: I like the ones that are just a few days or 24 hour. They're short, and makes it so you have to do the prompt right then if you can X'D The longer ones feel like they just drag on forever xP
