bab backstory: cupid has been floating around space without a clear sense of purpose for forever now, and he's not sure that's changing any time soon. he just started to exist one day, and he's been wandering ever since- he's a free spirit and a traveller, someone who never stays in one place too long even if he falls in love with the town or a person, he's always off again soon enough. he's not sure what always calls him back to the cosmos, but whenever he's situated, comfortable and fairly grounded somewhere, he feels the urge to leave tug at his heart strings, warring with commitments and feelings he's made wherever he is. he's had many loves, all of whom he's promised to stay with, only to leave unannounced one rainy morning. he feels bad about it, sure, and part of him really hopes that one of these days he won't feel that creeping fear of staying grounded and he'll be able to just. be comfortable where he is. but he hasn't found that yet, and it worries him. as he floats through space, he wonders about the possibility of staying on a planet, falling in love, having a home-- at the same time, he can't help but admire the stars, the endless expanse of space- he loves the adventure of it all.

writing prompt; what has this bab swallowed?: a key. it sounds fairly mundane when compared to planets, but he eats those all the time- and worse, but the key stands out to him whenever he thinks of it. he was on a planet's surface working as a police officer of sorts, though his role was more true to that of a sheriff. he picked up his peaked cap and resigned to cover his cropped top with the large, blocky white coat he carries around now. he enjoyed his game of cops-and-robbers, but none of it felt quite real to him until the day he arrested his first sweetheart. they weren't sweethearts before the arrest, mind you, but as soon as cupid saw this boy, he was struck. from his tumbled bad-boy hair to his skewed smirk, there was something about him that was just charming. they'd chat through the bars of his holding cell as the paperwork processed and his fate was determined. when the day came to move him to a real, formal prison for the thefts he'd committed, cupid swallowed the master-key to the cells and pretended to have lost it. the outside officers agreed to wait until it was reprinted, allowing cupid's lover to stay longer in the holding cell. later that same night, cupid came back and opened up the cell before swallowing the key again. his lover begged cupid to escape with him, to live life on the run- to be happy together. cupid arranged to meet with him the next morning, but he never showed up. he couldn't find it in himself to. but that key-- that gesture was the closest to committing that cupid has ever come, and he still feels the weight of it in his stomach sometimes, weighing him down. and at the same time as it weighs on him-- he can't help but feel a little happy about it. could it be his romantic side?
