Name: Fuyu
Gender: Male
Prompt:
Tightening the scarf around his neck, Fuyu reaches up once more to take his fathers hand. He feels the gentle yet strong grip, a feeling of calm security wash over him once more. His father walked to the right of him; his long hair flowing in the wind like wheat in the meadows. To the right, Papa, who carried a basket and pole. It was just before dawn, the dim light hardly casing a shadow behind them. Father carried a lantern with fireflies; a clear glass globe suspended by rope. All was silent beside their soft footsteps through the misty forest.
Delicate was the silence, Fuyu knew better than to break the beautiful foundation of it. The tall pines gave off their powerful scent and cast the strangest shadows across the fog. Still, he could feel safe between the two fathers who always watched over him. Papa wanted to gather huckleberries today, get the best of the season before they got too ripe. Father loved the mountains and always wanted to join the trip when he could. Fuyu, the only son, followed them everywhere as a team. He loved them both, each special in their own way, each unconditionally loving.
"We're here." His father spoke in a light hearted tone, standing at the edge of a lake. The fog was so thick, there was no telling where it ended. It blended beautifully and seamlessly into the sky, like a never ending sea of water. Pebbles of various sizes and colors dotted the shore as he lead the way to a small dock. Fuyu had never been there before, at least... Not in weather like this. A small wooden boat sat silently off the dock, so still it didn't really need the rope binding it. Perhaps Father was planning to gather a few things of his own.
The two men hold hands for a brief moment, a slight squeeze shared between them before Father steps towards the dock and into the boat. Fuyu feel slight worry for his family as they part ways, but Papa's gentle grip makes him feel like things will be alright even if they aren't together. "I hope you don't mind an adventure with just me this time." He spoke with a sliver of humor, a faint smile on his face as he leads the way around the lake.
"Where are we going, Papa?"
