mid-life | jabali | male | amani | wanderer, protector of mortals---jabali did not originate from the great pride of dunia, in fact, he didn't even rise from this earth. jabali was created alongside safi (the king of malaika, ruler of heaven) and zeraili (the king of mabaya, ruler of the underworld). neither brother knew of his creation, and they had no quarrel with him. the goddess of amani, kiamani, created him to protect the lions of dunia from being consumed by mabayan creations-- the demons and spirits of the realm, commanded by zeraili. although kiamani trusted safi to protect the mortals, she was afraid of zeraili's great power and his corruptedness-- and feared that he would lose control and destroy everything she had created. the purpose of his creation was to protect dunia from afar, as a wanderer. he never interacted with dunia, until one fateful day.
---jabali resided in the faded woods, the woods which were engulfed in silvery fog. his bright green eyes shone through the bushes, almost glowing in the intense darkness. the ability gifted to him by the goddess of amani was his incredible, prophetic sight-- he could see up to a thousand times better than a normal lion and could focus clearly on things that were nearly fifty miles away...alongside this ability, he is able to see an hour into the future; making it so that he is able to plan and prepare dunia if an event were to happen.

---he was watching dunia's bustling pride for any sign of mabayan entities. he hadn't seen anything suspicious for a millennia, and yet this particular day he felt restless and uneasy. he went about his normal daily routine of hunting a wild rabbit and cleaning behind his ears, in a typical cat-like fashion. despite being a supernatural being, he was not blessed with the ability to not starve, despite sometimes wishing he was. he laid down his catch of the day and licked his paws elegantly, brushing his paw against the bottom of his ear every few seconds. he picked up his gaze and examined his surroundings while doing so.
---suddenly, he spotted a crack expanding on the edge of his forest. black darkness twisted slowly upwards, reaching up and clawing at the ruptured, and dirty surface. jabali's sight suddenly zoomed out, into a normal lions' vision, he stumbled backwards a few steps. zeraili was planning to attack. he looked down at his kill once, and even though his stomach called out to it with a low grumble, he padded quickly towards dunia's rocky territory. a patrol lion growled and called out to the leopard, but jabali was quicker than him and soon he was at the center of dunia's territory. he called out to any lion who would hear him, "where is your king?! where is your great majesty?! i must have a word with him immediately!" he spun around, but the lions looked at him, dazed and confused. the lionesses worriedly whispered among each other, but no one answered him.
---then, there was a low grumble. "who wakes me at this hour?" a worn-out lion grumbled as he emerged from a den cradled in a dusty gray rock. jabali bowed to him. "your majesty, i am jabali. i am a messenger who has come to warn you of a great serpent, zeraili, who is soon to come to create havoc in your territory of dunia. take this message as you will, sir, but soon supernatural beings will run rampant throughout the savannah-- angels and demons alike," he spoke quickly, taking a glance upwards at the great king. the king squinted at the orange leopard adorned in a leafy green cape. "i see," the king paused. "jabali, messenger from the heavens, how should i believe your word?" the king turned his back from jabali, gazing at the clouds high above. "i am a creation of kiamani, god over this realm. i have powers no other lion has been blessed with. great king, i act only on good will and nature, as my god has taught me. i do this for no other reason than to protect you from what is to come." jabali stood up from his bowing position. "what do you recommend us to do, jabali?" the king looked at jabali again, head cocked to one side. "until the supernatural battle is over,i advise you and your loyal subjects to move into the foggy forest. there, no spiritual beings can enter other than myself and the creatures of purgatory. you will be safe there until good prevails."

---the king sighed deeply. "i'm trusting you, jabali of the heavens." there was a pause. "you heard the leopard, grab your cubs and take what is left of our hunt and we will move to the forest. if you choose to stay, that is of your own will and you will face the consequences of the gods." whispers and cries of despair filled the air, as lions feared for the safety of their pride. many wondered if this leopard could even be trusted-- especially since spirituality was not prominent in their pride-- and why their king had so readily believed him. nonetheless, he was still their king and provided them protection, so every lion and cub followed after their king, who carried a section of a zebra carcass they had hunted prior to their unexpected visitor.
---"king of dunia." jabali, the leopard, chased after him. "i will come back again to invite you back to your territory once malaika wins." the king did not know much about the supernatural realms, but he nodded his head respectfully in response. even the king of dunia did not understand why he had believed jabali, maybe it was his unusual charm or his sense of urgency-- either way the king wouldn't take any chances on his pride.
---the battle began just as jabali had foreseen, dark, transparent claws dug its way out from the ground and soon there was a giant spirit-demon beast which stood at least sixty feet tall, similar to the stature of a werewolf. demons and spirits followed after it, wandering the land aimlessly. then finally, their king, zeraili, emerged, carried on a blueish rock by two dark-maned lions. he motioned for the lions to stop and he stepped off of his rock. he glanced around confidently and roared loudly, claiming dunia as his own. soon after, angels from the heavens, clad in sparkling gold armor, descended in response. the king of malaika, safi, floated down, shielded by his angels.the war broke out, and soon angels and demons were thrown everywhere. safi chose to fight against the beast himself, despite also being challenged by his brother, zeraili.
---jabali rushed in, clutching a silver shard in his jaw, the one weakness which demons have. he jabbed at the sixty-foot-tall beast which safi was thrashing around with his wings. "king of malaika... safi! let me help you and your men. i am sent from kiamani to help you. go take care of your brother." safi glanced at the orange leopard. he grunted as he shoved his wings one last time in the beast's direction. he took flight and moved on to fight zeraili.

---jabali jabbed again at the beast's disgusting claws. and again. and again. the beast cried out in agony as jabali did so and attempted to swat at the leopard. jabali dodged his attack and jabbed again, this time jumping upwards and poking at his shins. the beast cried out again, before he swatted a second time at jabali. this time, he didn’t have the means of dodging the attack, being mid-air, so he was thrown to the side by the beast. he slid until the edge of the forest, where misty fog brushed against his cheeks. he laid there, motionless, he had suffered many bruises and deep scratches from being thrown. he attempted to get up, but his body wouldn't let him. the beast galloped forward, throwing himself towards jabali's motionless body. then, a deep roar rang out from the forest.
---the king of dunia pounced out of the fog and shielded jabali's body. he clawed at the beast's cheek as it opened its jaws to finish off jabali. weakened, jabali squeaked, "no. your majesty... it's too dangerous." he made a second attempt to get up, but failed again. "please. your majesty." the king continued to paw at the beast's cheek. "i will not let you die for the sake of my pride!" he called out, growling and snarling at the beast. jabali finally mustered up enough energy to get up and he limped over to his iron shard. he picked it up stabbed at the beast tiredly. the king of dunia slinked away, seeing that jabali had recovered, to join his pride again. jabali stabbed the beast a second time, this time climbing up the beast's legs and shoving the shard into its chest, penetrating its heart. the beast yelled out a final howl, signifying its death. it dropped to the ground and began to melt away into the surface of the earth.

---jabali sighed and dropped to the floor, his head between his paws, tiredly. the demons and spirits slithered their way back into the hole in which they came, and the fallen who died on both sides (demons and angels) disappeared. zeraili growled frustratedly and jumped into the hole after his subjects. the angels floated back into the clouds and safi nodded towards jabali as a sign of thanks for his help. the hole closed up, and soon it was as if nothing had ever happened.
---he was then celebrated in dunia for his brave, victorious slaying of the beast. this day was later made "the day of jabali" and celebrated for years to come. dunia's lions thanked him for his gracious warning and for saving their territory from destruction. the king of dunia offered him a position in the pride, but jabali politely declined and explained how his purpose was fulfilled in the shadows, however, he would return to them in their time of need. he respectfully bowed towards the king and padded away, disappearing in the fog. it is said, by the cubsitters of the pride, that if you look closely into the fog, you are still able to see two glowing green eyes peering from the forest. many who belong to the pride believe it's just an old cub-tale, since their memory of that event is foggy, however the king of dunia believes in the tale wholeheartedly, and even shares his own experiences with the cubs from time-to-time. ( 1,769 words )

---jabali is a mysterious creature... neither mortal nor fully supernatural, but somewhere in between. a halfbreed of sorts. on one hand, he possesses strong, out-of-this-world capabilities, however also contains the weakness of a mortal-- he has the ability to be killed or in pain. this is an important characteristic of jabali, since he lives among mortals, but created to be able to have the ability to defeat zeraili, who has insurmountable power. compared to his brother, safi, or his brother, zeraili, he is nothing but a termite, but it is working alongside his peers which makes him so unique. jabali understands that he is no match for zeraili's great influence, at least alone, and so his hidden ability relies on his ability to work alongside others to fulfill a task. this is somewhat contrasted by his lone-wolf tendencies. he tends to want to fight or be alone and finds it extremely hard to accept help from others since it is his task as kiamani's child and servant to warn dunia of the impending threat of mabayan demons and help dunia in fighting against these creatures. jabali takes his duties literally and wants to complete every job on his own, even though alone he will always fail.
---despite being highly regarded by the king of dunia, he is not arrogant about his legendary status. in fact, he is displeased (embarrassed, even) with how he preformed-- especially since the king of dunia had to step in and help him. jabali hears the whispers of his mysterious tale, but often wishes for it to be wiped away. he wishes for nothing more than to be forgotten about and live his peaceful life in the shadowy haze of the foggy forest and watch over dunia. however, he is grateful for the king of dunia's compliments and is relieved that dunia will always find jabali as an ally.

mostly inactive. i've grown out of CS, however, it will always be part of my story and i will always carry fond memories of this site. I have tried many times in recent to become active again, but it has been difficult to find that imaginative and childish spark I once had visiting this site. i wish everyone well and hope that you find fruitfulness on and off of CS <3 thank you for the wonderful 11 years, ciao!

Well... I write a lot of stories... and you mentioned that you like worldbuilding, unique stories, and lore... so I guess I will just talk about my original stories? I have been writing consistently since 2012-2013, but I have been writing "books" every since I was in elementary school. There was always something so appealing and alluring about writing books and being an author that enticed even my 10-year-old self. At first, I was always the main character, and the other "characters" were my real-world friends and acquaintances, but once I hit middle school and got into more fandoms, I began to create actual characters.
I may have gotten carried away.
But all my "writing" shenanigans in elementary school led to me writing more in middle school, especially when I got my first laptop as a gift for being so sick and depressed in sixth grade (I believe that was the reason. I cannot remember a single thing from that year, or the year after, save for what I've written, more or less). It has origins in Creepypasta and Homestuck, but my first original story, and the main story I continue to work on to this day, is called The Indomitus Factor.
It was originally called The Subnet, and then The Insani Factor, until I finally settled on The Indomitus Factor. "Indomitus" is the latin word for "unaccustomed" or "untamable," it depends on the translation, but both are rather fitting. It is a high and epic fantasy story with some sci-fi elements, to put it the most bluntly. It would take me pages to explain the origin of The Indomitus Factor (TIF) and how it evolved over the years (it's been 5 years now), so I will just talk about what it is now. Most of it is not CS-appropriate, so I will have to be as vague as possible while still doing it justice
. Over the years, the one thing that has not changed about TIF is that it revolves around technology. I can't remember what exactly made me make it this way, but it has stuck and always will stick. More specifically, the original species of TIF, the entities, are based upon technology. They are humanoid and bipedal, but their naming systems, social structures, and biology has a basis in technology--for example, all of their names must derive from technology and science, including most of the fields within both. Some of my favorite names (and characters) include Critical Decay, Digital Omicron, Arctic Union, Program.AVI, and Interstellar Extinction, and so on and so forth... Some of the characters have names from the "old phase" of TIF, where I used latin names (some written backwards) for surnames. I just got too used to the names to change them. The story name is a testament to this phase.
God, I could go forever on this story and its worldbuilding and lore, but I've already written so much... The planet in which the entities live is called Dimentor, which was originally a portmanteau of the words "tormentor" and "demented." It is split into three countries: the Negative District, the Positive District, and the Division District. Historically, the Negative District is a war-torn country that struggles with military takeovers and dictators, and it is where much of the story takes place. The Positive District has always been a more "refined" country, but still comes with its faults, which range from its own issues of civil war to attempts to force their will onto other countries (the Negative District in particular). The Division District has always been the more neutral country, keeping out of the ridiculous affairs of the Negative and Positive Districts and preferring to advance itself to get ahead--and ahead it has gotten. The governments of these three countries--the dictatorships of the Negatives, the so-called aristocracy of the Positives (it's more of a kleptocracy until the story progresses), and the actually functional constitutional monarchy of the Divisionals--are constantly getting into trouble with each other. The Negative District has always been incredibly... headstrong, to put it kindly, and is prone to starting fights especially with the Positive District, whose rulers' skins are not as thick as they like to claim.
Naturally, the governments' shenanigans have plenty of... effects on the citizens. For one, each country corresponds to a different class (sort of like a race) of entity: there are negative entities, positive entities, and divisional entities. They each have similar characteristics, such as black hair, fangs, feathered wings, naming systems, eye color systems, and so on... the only differences really are their skin colors (negatives are dark gray, positives pure white, and divisionals pure gray) and their sizes. Entities like to claim that there are specific character traits associated with each class--aggressive negatives, snobby positives, doormat divisionals--but these are all stereotypes. Additionally, entities, regardless of class, are further divided into "types": advantages, disadvantages, and defaults. This is where more of the technology-based stuff comes in. Advantages are "normal" and do not have any prominent technology-related biology, and they are typically bigger and stronger, their wings large enough to be capable of flight. Disadvantages possess what are broadly known as "crashes," meaning that they have internal technological faults that range from crashes, overloads, freezing, and so on; they're often stereotyped as neurotic and scatterbrained. Defaults are considered the "worst" and posses physical technological faults that manifest as glitches, their wings useless and mangled. Their glitches can be weaponized and controlled, but many do not know how to do so. As one can expect, society judges disadvantages and defaults (known collectively as faults) harshly, particularly in the Negative District.
The first part of the stories (I'm writing a series) takes place in the year 1900 and focuses primarily on the negatives. I drew heavy inspiration from World War 2, the Cold War, and the Vietnam War in particular...
As I mentioned before, the Negative District government is a dictatorship... an authoritarian, totalitarian, military dictatorship that has dissolved into tyranny. It was originally a well-meaning oligarchy, but the daughter of one of the founders of this oligarchy, Cyclone Cipher, ends up "removing" her family from the country and takes control of the government for herself. She names herself Supreme Commander and takes control of the Negative Advantage Military, which she repurposes into a violent military force to enact her will across the country. Life for faults, especially defaults, get much harder; some disadvantages can pass as advantages, but others are forced to the bottom of society with the rest. Life becomes terrible for most of the country, even for advantages, because despite their elevated status, they are forced to work for the military in almost every part of their life and are heavily punished if they even think about feeling bad for the faults.
The faults, tired of living their torturous lives, cry for a savior. And a savior does come. Her name is Iota Beta, a default sentenced to a "labor camp" along with her only living father for conspiracy against the Regime. Little does Cyclone and the NAM know, however, is that Iota knows how to weaponize and control her glitch--and very well can she do so. Glitches are, in a way, a default's natural protection against advantages; while using it against another fault only bruises or cuts them, using a glitch against an advantage results in near-fatal injuries. Iota is tired of living in this world, and encouraged by her father, somewhat-intentionally starts a country-wide revolution that results in her needing to go into hiding.
Eventually, she ends up in the run-down town of Eight-bit, where the real revolution begins after a not-so-intelligent NAM soldier burns down the fault-part of the town. Iota decides this is the last straw, and rallies for her revolutionary military force, the United Fault Militia, to fight against Cyclone Cipher and the NAM to take it down once and for all. With the help of sympathizers (advantages who ally with faults), angry defaults who are hungry from revenge, and the eventual help from the positives and the divisionals, she will not stop to fix the world she's grown to hate so much.
And of course... much more happens... from counter-revolutions, traitors, defections, assassinations, civil wars, imprisonment, back-stabbing, alliances, and some weird messages sent by a group of 12 entities calling themselves "The Majors," there is just too much to include in just one little post. But it is a project that is VERY near and dear to me, I've been working on it almost constantly since I created it in 2013. I've gotten hundreds of characters for it, countless plotlines, relationships, and ideas... I could talk about it until the sun gave out, LOL. Hope this counts as unique story/worldbuilding/lore!
