If you guys don't allow flat-faced dogs, do you allow blue merles? They are known to be bred for being white in the face (it's considered pretty) and are often born deaf, blind or both due to this.

Idk, if you're going to ban some breeds, I suggest this one too, I've met about three of these dogs (Excluding my own, who is deaf) with consequences due to being this breed who suffer from it. (There is a breeder nearby.) It's pretty sad to see a dog that can only see through one eye, and can't have other contact with the world at all.

Blue Merle is a coat color/pattern and not a breed itself, and it isn't dangerous on its own. However, breeding two merles of any color can result in a double merle, which can cause health problems, including deafness.

I know it's a coat, xD, but the colouring is bred for it, blue merle wouldn't exist if people hadn't (and wouldn't) throw the two merles together. It's also wrong it's only because of double merle, any dog with a white face has a high chance of deafness/blindness. The fact that blue merles are bred for it, only makes that chance higher.

The merle gene is known to cause many health problems, mostly deafness and blindness, but also sun sensitivity and skin cancer. However !! It’s unusual to happen in heterozygous merles; Mm, but super common in double merles; MM.
And heterozygous merles are “normal” merles such as blue merle. Making blue merle not “dangerous”, double merle is the gene that causes health problems. And in order to get a double merle dog you’ve gotta to breed two dogs with the Mm gene.
And people don’t specifically breed for double merle because it leads to health issues, people breed two merles together to get more merles.
