what is something you're proud of yourself for accomplishing in 2019?:
Earlier in the year, I finally found something that inspired me to completely change what I'd planned for my future; in just a day I'd found a new career to pursue, changed the degree I wanted to choose, and even the country in which I wanted to study. As such, I dedicated much more of my time to the subject I wanted to follow, and went from barely passing it to being offered a place for the course at the universities I wanted. In addition to majoring in French, I've also been motivated to begin studying another language as well. I guess I am most proud of myself this year for deciding to go down the path I really want as opposed to settling for the familiar and "safer" choice; but also for having the determination to improve in something that I used to feel so useless at.

what is something you want to do in 2020?:
I want to be more involved in more social activities! I usually spend most of my free time with art, reading, or writing, so it was only recently that I realised how withdrawn I'd become. I'm going to begin singing lessons this year, and try to join a theatre group, but I'm also keen to volunteer at the local shelter, to help out a little. Instead of staying in every night, I'd like to begin going to live performances and plays, where I can enjoy myself but also meet some new people with whom I have something in common. Hopefully, I can find some people who are just as eager to try new things with me.

what is something you're proud of a friend for doing in 2019, or want to happen to them in 2020?:
One of my friends has felt very lost for a long time. She has always seen herself rather negatively, and never really found something to be passionate about, which made her feel even more hopeless. In 2019, though, she changed completely, and it made me so happy to see; she's gained a new confidence in herself, and isn't so hard on herself either. She's genuinely enjoying herself at last, and found what she wants to do in life, and how she will do it. I'm proud of her for growing so much as a person so suddenly, and for dramatically improving at school as well when she realised what it was that she wanted to study. I hope that 2020 shows her how worthwhile her hard work was, and that she continues to enjoy psychology.

what is something you're proud of yourself for accomplishing in 2019?:
i improved my art! i only really started pushing myself to put more effort into my art this year, and while there's still a whole lot of room for improvement, it's a start at least! the encouragement i got from friends was a huge help and i wouldn't have done it without them. knowing me i probably would've just given up on it if they weren't there for me. plus, i only actually started art really trying art because of a friend! he poked fun at how i wouldn't draw hair on any of my joke doodles so i kept trying and trying to draw hair and then trying to draw hair on finished art. i'm still not very good at hair to be honest, but it's better than not drawing it at all! without that little joke, i wouldn't have improved like i did. what is something you want to do in 2020?:
aside from improving my art further, i want to be able to speak out a lot more and to become a lot more outgoing. i don't talk very often if at all and i think that only got worse as years went on. i want to turn that around in 2020! i want to be able to talk more at social gatherings and leave my house more often. i want to make more friends and leave my shell. i want to be able to invite my friends to places that aren't my home and to stay in the living room when my family or my siblings' friends are over. i want to be more open about my feelings with other people. i feel like this one thing could improve my life immensely. what is something you're proud of a friend for doing in 2019, or want to happen to them in 2020?:
even if they won't say it, i can tell that one of my friends improved mentally. a year ago they slowed down and they weren't as happy as i had seen them previously. they weren't the same person i knew and not in a good way. something was definitely wrong but they wouldn't talk about it, at least not to me or any of our friends. but they seem to be coming back around again! they laugh more, smile more, and i can tell that it's genuine. it makes me so happy to see my friends happy and to see them back in a happier state of mind makes me feel all fuzzy inside. i'm so happy for them. what is something you're proud of yourself for accomplishing in 2019?: there's not much i did in 2019 to be proud of, but from what i recall there was something i accomplished that really stuck out to me as "awesome!" in may, i participated in an NYSSMA solo festival and performed a solo i prepared for the judge. i felt like i did not practice the song enough to master it and was extremely nervous and doubtful, but after the results came out with my scores, i found that i did really well! my score was not high enough for me to be considered to be in a talented band group, but i was still satisfied with it either way. never again, though.

what is something you want to do in 2020?: i have many things i would like to accomplish in 2020, although there is only a slight possibility it will happen, i want to try my best. on the top of my list is to procrastinate less and work harder, last year my grades for some classes suffered due to my weak work ethic and constant procrastination with assignments. i want to get out of the habit of turning in assignments late and start rebuilding a way to work better, before it gets out of hand as i continue school and onto jobs. secondly, i want to pick up a few new hobbies, such as cooking, crafting, and photography. reading a certain manga has been inspiring me to learn how to cook and cook for others. crafting and photography also seems really cool and doable for me, since i'd like to try out a form of the arts that is not drawing or writing. third, i want to become more physically and emotionally active. i don't exercise much unless it is in school, eat well, or let out my emotions to someone as much as i need to. so i hope i can become better at doing these things for a better me. and last but not least, i'd like to learn japanese and korean. both of these languages and cultures are really interesting and i want to be able to at least know the basics! (and also understand k-pop songs.)

Something I would like to accomplish in the year 2020 is to get a part-time job, try to finish getting my SSDI, and maybe go to college!

what is something you're proud of yourself for accomplishing in 2019?:
This past year I had the amazing opportunity to compete in the Model United Nation's conference in New York, playing the role of the United States of America. Representing the US was a huge challenge, both because of how large a role the USA plays in the UN, (how many committees we were on, the fact that were are the largest contributor, and that we are one of the P5 countries on the security council) and because we had to fully represent the administration of the US. Still, we all managed to pull through that incredibly tough week and receive the highest award the conference can give.

what is something you want to do in 2020?:
More than anything, I want 2020 to be a year where I feel settled. If I have it my way, by the end of this next year I will be in a job that both inspires me and makes me feel secure. This is an important balance for me because repetition is not something I am comfortable with. This job would allow me to move and travel, with opportunities to expand my knowledge and experience. I would be continuing my family's legacy in what I've come to think of as the family business. Not only would this be the culmination of many months of hardworking, it would bring me discipline, structure, and the knowledge that I am supporting myself. That's what I want out of 2020.

what is something you're proud of a friend for doing in 2019?:
My friend, let's call her Em, is a literal star. We have been friends since high school, and I just know this is the kind of friendship that will last the rest of our lives. Em is always trying to be the best version of herself. She's a nurse in-training, and she works harder than anyone else I know to ensure that her dreams become reality and that her patients are well cared for. Her teachers at this school resented her. They claimed her happy attitude was frivolous and unbecoming of a nurse. It didn't matter that her patients loved her and that she had some of the highest grades of the class. In what can only be an act of active sabotage, she failed her final exam. She was devastated, and I was furious. But Em didn't let herself be cowed. She steeled her nerves and bunkered down to study again. The teachers refused to offer her constructive criticism and tried instead to degrade her, so she doesn't know what went wrong on the test to improve on the next one, which will be administered by the same, biased people. Still, she is persevering. I love my friend, and I am incredibly proud of her for all of her accomplishments. I know how hard it is to come back from having your confidence shaken like that.
I am so grateful to be able to call her my friend.

what is something you're proud of yourself for accomplishing in 2019?:
In 2019 I have become my own person. I was kicked out of my parents’ house, found other living accommodations with some very generous people, and I have learned so many things about myself. 2019 was really the year that I’ve come out of my shell and just gone out into the world and really enjoyed myself while also maintaining responsibility. I am very proud of myself for how far I have come and I am excited to see how much further I can go with the end of the decade. :)

what is something you want to do in 2020?:
I just got the roller skates I’ve been really really wanting for a long time for Christmas, and my friend and I would like to practice and get better. I want to be able to ride them solidly, be able to take them to the beach, and eventually be able to do tricks on them. Hopefully having them will help me exercise and go outside more.

I am proud of my best friend for striving for and achieving her goals. She’s very close to getting her own chair at a salon and I can’t wait to see her be happy in all aspects of her life and see where the new year takes us together. <3

what is something you're proud of yourself for accomplishing in 2019?:
Not to bring the mood down or give off an 'whoa is me vibe' because that is NOT my intent but... But I'm proud I made it through this year. 4 jobs, 2 family deaths, a breakup and its my first year owning this house and being away from my Mom and it's been really hard. Through all the misfortune this year, I still managed to pay all my bills on time, care for my lovely animals and smile at work no matter how down I feel. I made it through my first year away from home, my first year of being a homeowner and while I've been distant from the internet as a result, I feel like I've made all the right choices to keep my head above the water.
I guess the only bad choice I made was getting another dog, but she really needed a home and I always feel like I'm pushing through to continue giving them a home. 2019 was pretty tough, I doubt 2020 will be whole lot better but I've made some friends which will hopefully help. I made it, I didn't slip up and I still have the house to prove it! And these loving little buggers.

what is something you're proud of yourself for accomplishing in 2019?:

2019 was a pretty scary year for me, not going to lie. The first half of the year was so dramatically different from the second year, and I'm not even sure how I would average it out to summarize it^^;; Despite the ups and downs, I do have a few things that I am proud of accomplishing. I was the first one in years at our school to receive a Gold Seal from a statewide competition. It has been some what of a goal/dream of mine so I'm proud of myself. I also became more comfortable with myself through the course of the year, feeling much freer to be myself and show myself the way I am. I learned people's response is their responsibility, and there isn't much I can do to change it. The same goes for me, my response is always my responsibility, regardless of the situation. (153)

what is something you want to do in 2020?:

Oh boy, there's a lot in store for me in 2020, I'll be graduating high school and attending an art school, which also means I'll be moving out to live on my own with room mate(s). It's exciting and scary at the same time honestly. Through it all I hope I am able to face changes fearlessly, and experience many new things. I'm looking forward to personal growth and development. I will be working towards building my skills in traditional mediums in art, as well as testing the waters with digital mediums. Another goal for me is that I want to be more comfortable when it comes to presentation. Public speaking always gave me anxiety, and it would be almost miraculous if I could get over that this year. what is something you're proud of a friend for doing in 2019, or want to happen to them in 2020?:

I have a friend who is absolutely astonishingly amazing. Until this recent few months we weren't [i/]that[i] close. She has always been mostly quiet and seemed reserved for the most parts, until this year. She started being much more open about herself. I can't tell what triggered her change, but I am so proud of her for becoming much more open and vocal about her thoughts. She talks more openly about her thoughts, allowing us to be of help when she gets anxious or depressed. She has always been there for us, and until this year it felt like it was a one sided thing, where she'd listen and help us with our concerns, but we wouldn't know when she needs the help. I'm so incredibly happy for her and I hope in 2020 she will be able to have some peace<3 (143)
