The colder months were not fair to anyone. Everyone depended on the chances of making it better and lasting until the spring and the warmer seasons, even if the food was stretched thin. At worse, what could be found would be stretched thin, and it would come to an account that begging the no furs for food, even if it was tasteless food pellets at times, it was better than feeling the hunger that reminded one of the better times. The court of the orchids, even with limited supplies at least attempts to help with the unlucky ones, providing shelter, a warm place to sleep, food when it was required, and medical attention.

Most of the cats that would decide to make the temple grounds their home, were, of course, street cats or abandoned house cats that have nowhere else to turn, but we're more than willing to start a new life has a member of the courts, and the place was were always a welcoming place for those who would want to have a place to stay, than to remain out on the streets were, the cold was a dangerous thing to wager again, and it took more lives than it protected.

“oh hello,” Niko spoke softly flanked by her adopted father Kage, has the two stood watching the hesitating rouge, “You can come closer, we are not going to hurt you, would you like to step closer toward the basin? Its warmer here than outside in the snow.” She continued settling down, beside the warm to the touch basin, that its own embers were quietly crackling away in the background.

Prompt: Cedarfang took a gulp of the food she'd caught with her clan mates wrenclaw, flamesong, and thymebell-- It had been an interesting season so far with the clan growing so much. Her attention flickered over to a nearby lump of trash on the side of the road. It hadn't been there the day before and she wasn't exactly paying attention to new goodies on the road, so it's sudden appearance surprised her. She sauntered over and peeked into the bag, noticing the foul stench of- "Cedarfang behind you!"

Before she knew it the wind was knocked out of her and she was nose deep in a pile of trash. "Give me your prey and we won't have a problem",a hoarse and old voice demanded the group of cats from which Cedarfang had just left. She attempted to wiggle away and found that the tom wasn't much heavier than herself,"Not if I have anything to say about it-" Somehow she squirmed to just the right spot where she was able to catch the tom's underbelly and jump from under him when he became stunned. "Who are you? Get away from my clan",she spat.

After the group apprehended the cat who had attacked Cedarfang, they offered him some food in returned for his cooperation. He told him about how he'd been picked up from the streets by a man in a white uniform and brought to a horrible place that fed him kibble twice a day and smelled like medicine, lots of humans look at him but none seemed to want to be around him for too long. At some point he was brought away from the foul smelling place and dropped off on a road, this road to be exact. He wasn't sure why but the people probably thought he was feral and wanted to be free. Somehow, this strange old grumpy cat, wiggled his way into the hearts of the group (everyone except cedarfang's) and he was allowed to stay under the condition he chose a warrior name--- to which he responded that he liked the idea of being called Briarstalk.

Prompt:
The stars do have a deeper meaning to Lightclan, as they believe their ancestors live in the stars. Starwalker was given her name due to her ability to speak and walk with the cats living far above the clan. The clan was a tradition where during every new moon, when the stars shine the brightest, they spend some time as a clan staring up at the stars, being thankful for what they have, and wishing for the future.

Prompt:

For Soulclan, their history and legends mainly rest in the paws of the spirits of their ancestors that they believe guide them through life everyday. However for the stars that shine so brightly in the midnight each winter night, the entire clan believes that it's a sign that they will make it through the winter. Often times, when the stars shine ever so brightly, it's a sign of good fortune to the spirits. The clan is either gifted with prey and herbs during patrols. But if the sky darkens, it's a sign from the spirits that there is trouble ahead. These periods of good fortune and troubles vary each day. So with these legends in mind, the clan stays vigilant every winter day and night.

When the stars glow brighter during (any time honestly), Cedarfang tells the clan that those are their ancestors watching over them. It doesn't stand for much, considering half the clan was already grown by the time they became part of it, but it's how she entertains those who believe in Duskclan's starclan-like ancestors. She's not sure where she heard it, probably from some story teller who found them along their journey-- but she liked it and genuinely believes that those who've died are watching the clan grow and prosper.

The fact that they grow brighter in winter is, according to her, them growing stronger closer to the season they died-- a testament to why the clan must stick together in the winter so much. A few smarty pants will say she's wrong, but it keeps mostly everyone together and following her rules for the season.
