Prompt:

They had to be quiet. They had to be stealthy. The bird in front of them was unaware that it was being stalked, about to become a nice big piece of prey for the fresh kill pile. The cats nearly had it cornered, closing in all sides. They just had to get a few steps closer...

"Arrrgh!" Orion's cry caused the bird to look up in alarm. The other hunters reacted fast, pouncing on the bird before it had a chance to fly away thanks to Orion's careless reaction. He didn't help give chase to the bird, looking down at his own paw with disgust.

One of the other cats talked up to him, tail thrashing as he glared. "What was that about, Orion!?" They growled, upset over their coordination nearly being ruined.

"I stepped in a wet spot," Orion pouted, holding up one of his paws for the others to see. It was surely soggy on the bottom, his fur around his white foot wet. "I hate that! When the ground is wet but you can't tell it's wet! It's the worst!"

The others rolled their eyes, but said nothing. At least they got the bird, no thanks to Orion...

Firestarterreally, REALLY hates the sound of woodpeckers. they're common in his clan and he would rather go deaf than to listen to their incessant pecking all day, everyday. it gets worse in the day and it's the reason why he chose to be a night dweller over a day breaker when he was made an apprentice. the worse is when he's WOKEN up by one, in which case he will trudge outside into the day and find the darned thing and make it prey.

"Leaves with spots," Coalnose answers with a growl. "Leaves shouldn't have spots; it's just not right! Trees and bushes and plants are all stunning works of nature, amazing and perfect in every way. Their leaves have no right to ruin that image of beauty with their pathetic little brown specks. The leaves' imperfections are blatantly obvious and a disgrace, and yet I'm forced to work with him regardless. He's an insult to the family na-- plant. I mean plant." The tabby pauses, tail twitching nervously, then finishes with a hiss. "Leaves should be better than that." He snorts and walks away, muttering under his breath and leaving you wondering who he was really talking about.

While he is somewhat bothered by spots on leaves, Coalnose's true biggest pet peeve is his brother's inability to ever actually be helpful. The other tom -- Leaf-flight, a brown spotted tabby -- is constantly bursting with energy, and his bounciness, combined with his clumsiness, leads to a lot of disasters in the medicine den. A lot. Coalnose always ends up with even more work after Leaf-flight's attempts at being useful, yet his brother insists on coming back to help out again, day after day. It bothers Coalnose to no end that Leaf-flight has not once been helpful in the medicine den, and somehow hasn't recognized that yet and given up.
