Silverkit curled up to his mother’s side, the cooled air from outside seeming to be colder this morning than in the last few days. As his mother stood, he hissed and mewled in defiance, scooting as fast as he could towards where she had been laying, doing his best to not uncurl himself in the process. Soon a nose was pushing him back towards the cold, he hissed and finally opened his eyes, seeing a blinding white light coming from the entrance.

“Silverkit, you should really see this, you will love it,” his mother mewed gently next to his ear. Standing he marched back towards the nest, wanting nothing more than to stay warm all day next to his mother. A huff of annoyance escaped his mother just as his father walked in carrying a few pieces of prey with him. He sat up and waited patiently. He watched as a black bird was dropped off for Eclipsemoon and a fat mouse for Minkriver, before dropping a pair of voles for him and his mother. Happy, he greedily dug into the meal, not bothering to listen to his father and mother telling him to slow down and appreciate the food now.

“Tigerthistle, take him out to the snow please?” his mother pleaded, making the small silver kit look up from his meal. Suddenly his father was picking him up by the scruff and dragging him towards the den entrance, his wailing not to take him to the cold.
“Dad please, it’s cold,” he was suddenly dropped, blocked from the nursery by the larger size of his father.

“You want to become a fighter or hunter for the clan right?” his father mewed heavily, making the kit sit, trying his best not to shiver at the chill outside. “If you can’t deal with the cold then you might want to think about becoming a sky watcher instead. You haven’t even gone out, trust me you won’t mind it today.”

He bowed his head, before turning to the white and taking a step outside. His father was right, it wasn’t as cold as the entrance to the nursery made it seem. The soft crunch the snow made under his weighted step made the kit smile in joy. Even if it was cold, it wasn’t cold enough to make the kit want to stay in the nursery all day. He quickly poked his head in to mew an apology to his mother before rolling around and clawing at the snow.

Little Moonkit's jaw dropped when he saw the flurry of white powder floating down from the sky. The crisp cold air nipped at his ears, the wetness of it beneath his feet. He loved it instantly.
