Euphorian Thoroughbred #389

Postby DeadlyArcana » Sun Dec 01, 2019 11:24 am

Welcome to the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project
Euphorian Thoroughbreds are a rare string of the Thoroughbred breed. They come from a single farm simply called “Euphoria” that has horses with mutated genes. These allow them to be able to possess any realistic coat or markings. Everything else about the sub-type is the same. Long, strong legs, a powerful hind, and great speed. Their eyes are soft and the breed is incredibly smart, if not a bit goofy. They love kids and have the rare ability to excel in any discipline. They can grow from 15hh-18hh, though usually somewhere in the middle.
The horses readopted through the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project are looking for a new loving home and a new job. They’ve tried racing and have either retired or decided the sport wasn’t for them. Either way, they are ready for the next chapter in their life. Some of these horses will come with a little training already, and will have their new discipline already determined. Although others you’ll get to pick how they move forwards!

Show Name: Swift As the Storm
Barn Name: Falcon
Gender: Stallion
Age: 11 years old
Height: 16.3hh
Halter: soft pastel brown
Discipline: Vaulting horse
Competition:. Falcon has a strange love for water, if he is on a trail ride he will do his utmost best to stop at every creek they pass and if given the chance he will wade in and lay down in it too, not minding if he soaks his rider. He is an incredibly gentle and sensitive stallion, but his blindness does cause him to be a bit shy. He took to the vaulting Discipline with grace, as if he was born to do it, he has a natural steady rhythm and follows commands with ease, his blindness also stops him being starled or distracted by crowds in noisy places when doing shows and he has a very close bond to his vaulting riders.

Show Name: ARR Stormcaller
Barn Name: Storm
Gender: Stallion
Age: 5 yrs
Height: 16.1 hh
Halter: Surprise me
Discipline: Show jumping
Competition: Amazingly enough, Storm is actually quite the accomplished show jumper. While blind riders have made their way into the spotlight, having a blind mount is a totally different story. Here is what Storm sees, just vague grey shapes that appear very suddenly as they get closer, and sadly said objects are nowhere near as crisp and clean as the image. Despite having the tiniest bit of vision to help him, Storm really doesn't use it. All of his faith gets put it in his rider and his training, which both take a lot of trust to complete a course without injury.

Storm competes in a "disability" class, meaning he's given extra consideration and docked points are a little less severe due to his blindness. Disability classes are also limited to 1 meter (3 feet) jumps or less, so it made the training just the slightest bit easier. Luckily for him, rider, and trainer, Storm was also born with an idetic memory and a lot of clever intelligence stored inside that brain of his. The day before competition, his rider Annabelle walks him through the course three or four times at least, counting strides with him and describing the jumps. He memorizes the course this way, making a vivid mental map of where the jumps and turns are. Once competition comes and Anna is in the saddle, another layer comes to their process: taps. Before each jump, Annabelle will tap Storm's neck according to how high it is. One tap means the jump is only 1 foot, just a little hop; 2 taps is a two-foot jump, and 3 taps is a three-foot fence. That way he knows how high he needs to prepare for. The two have a very good system going, and they train and retrain constantly to make sure nothing is forgotten.

Show Name: Blinded by the Light
Barn Name: Manfred
Gender: Stallion
Age: 8 years
Height: 15.3 hh
Halter: Surprise me!
Discipline: Dressage
Competition: Nothing about Manfred's nature would lead anyone who didn't know him to believe he was blind. He navigated the pastures with ease, he knew exactly where his stall was, and he never seemed to be lost or searching for his way. In fact, most people were surprised to learn he had anything wrong with his vision at all, let alone being fully blind. He's always confident and sure, and he's never scared of learning new things, which is why he took so easily to dressage. He learned the moves with ease, and always trusted the rider on his back to help lead him through routines. And who needs vision when the beat of a song tells you what you need to do? Manfred has never been hindered by his lack of sight, and he's just as happy as any other "normal" horse.

(also I just couldn't resist making his names a reference to one of my favorite songs, such a gorgeous boy~)

    Show Name: Aria Andante
    Barn Name: Dante
    Gender: Stallion
    Age: 9 Years, 2 months
    Height: 17.1hh
    Halter: Bright red!
    Discipline: Dressage to music
    Competition:
With sight difficulties, it was easy to write Dante off in his first few years. 'He'll be a companion horse', 'He'll be a nice addition to a stable', 'He can breed for colour'. However, Dante has a beautiful, easy, graceful movement - one that makes it simple to train him to be a dressage horse. Unfortunately, the stallion faces issues within himself - he finds himself panicking in anticipation of the next cue, as he doesn't remember when it will come in, and, without the ability to use the visuals of the arena around him, found that to be an obstacle he could not overcome. And so, in the attempt to quell these fears, came the addition of music to his routines. And, to the delight of everyone - including himself! - he found this addition to be calming and extremely useful. Now, he remembers when his change of pace needs to occur, remembers where the cues will come from, and his discipline has become his absolute favourite activity!
