Kjaku with broken spark plates are considered "dangerous" or "unpredictable" at best. In contrast to the stable magic that fills a regular spark plate, a broken spark plate's magic is completely uncontrolled and can result in natural disasters - especially when they attempt to call upon the world's magic. The broken plates always give the kjaku an odd trait that the world itself hadn't created/did not accept. Kjaku with broken spark plates are known as "bad omens", and so, most fellows with broken spark plates often attempt to "hide" this or their trait(s) so as to not "scare" others.

Kjaku with broken spark plates have immense powers that cannot be controlled by most others, and are often wielded with great difficulty by its bearer.
