hey! long time lurker here. do i count as old yet?

i feel like i should be hobbling around in a zimmer frame compared to some of the users running around nowadays. almost nine years, in fact? that's half of my entire life spent on this website. i can't remember what year i was in when i started but i absolutely remember legging it home from primary school every day to check my trading centre. i'm now a full time student pursuing a career in military intelligence. that's crazy to think about.
i remember the joint account craze and ngl i really wanted a joint account for some reason. i have literally no clue why. there's literally no upside to sharing a username and password with somebody else. why was it cool to start with, again?
do you guys remember this thread where people would post to merge their accounts with random users who literally just responded to the ad? that was insane and i have no idea who thought that would ever go well. i'm glad tess banned the merging of accounts when she did because that could have gotten way out of hand lol.

I kind of remember the old layout. I remember seeing the pets on another online game forum and clicking on them. I saw the rose litter for adoption but didn't have an account back then so I would offsite adopt. Looking back I so wish I had just started an account then instead of the following year lol

I only waited a month or so before making an actual account to keep my pets and I was already annoyed at myself for just missing that month lol
Also, as for the merging account phase....yeah that was strange...I remember wanting to merge accounts too, but not really being friends enough with anyone to do it. I think the appeal was being able to combine your collections? And maybe splitting up the workload of token hunting? idk it seems silly now
i mean i don't even think it was combining collections, since they did the whole thing with fancy collection divider groups that then started a fashion of having incredibly elaborate group dividers. i wish i still remembered how to make those dividers look right, now i think about it.

A bit late to jump into the previous conversation, but just noticed this thread again ^^

I think it seemed appealing because a lot of well-known players did it (like Hekomi and Jeweled). I thought it was a collection thing too. I was also one of those people who didn't have anyone to merge with and started looking for someone, but ultimately I didn't go through with it. That's probably where I first saw group dividers too, because that's when I added them to my own groups.
