Lion name: Akilia (Swahili for "crying out")
Lion gender: Female
Pride: Isle of Roses
Pride status: Oracle

Akilia's sadness stems form one thing in particular: one day, she's going to have to kill Nasaba.
It's not that she wants to. Quite the contrary, actually. She thinks the king of the Isle of Roses is kind; however, she believes he is too kind. To her, he is far too lenient and therefore unfit to rule. The spirit of her mother - at least, who she thinks is her mother - has taught her the proper way to rule a pride, which is with a cruel violence that Nasaba refuses to instill. That is why, with her mother's help, Akilia became Oracle of the pride. Though she cannot actually receive messages from the ancestors, she has proved herself to be very capable of pretending, especially with her mother helping to produce false signs to solidify her reliability among the pride members. Ironically, the only one who doesn't seem to believe her is the cub Laani, but with her bad luck, no one actually listens to her complaints. And yet, oddly enough, she seems to be interested in being an Oracle Learner. Akilia's mother is all for this idea. She says that if Laani is her Learner, she can keep a much closer eye on her.
However, that still leaves her with the conundrum of Nasaba. Despite her mother saying she should feel no regret, and knowing that it is her duty to save the Isle of Roses from Nasaba's naivety, Akilia still cannot help but feel remorseful that he'll have to die for it. After all, there is no way to take leadership in the Isle of Roses unless the previous King or Queen is killed. So, since Nasaba has not agreed with her subtle suggestions to try and make the Isle of Roses a proper pride, she must kill him so that she may take the throne. Akilia will listen to her mother and do whatever it takes to become the pride's leader and save them from their own ignorance...no matter how many of them she has to kill to do so.
And yet, though Akilia hasn't realized it, somewhere deep down, she's questioning what her mother has sent her to do. Her sadness isn't just about having to kill an "ignorant" soul; she's sad because a part of her believes her mother is wrong. Akilia knows what she has been raised to believe. She thinks she believes it too. And yet, when she looks at the Isle of Roses and its members, she sees lions who are happy. How can they be so happy if her mother is right? So long as her mother lingers by her, Akilia will most likely never turn away from the path before her. Yet, somewhere in her heart, she hesitates. Of course she's hesitating; otherwise, why wouldn't she have killed the king already?
