The catacombs are a vast underground network of tunnels, only accessible by a few select spots on the surface.
Ancient cats carved and explored these tunnels through centuries of hard work. At the heart of the catacombs
is a nook bustling with life: Catalena. Here cats live harmoniously in groups called guilds, in which every memb-
er has it's own special role. There are merchants, barbarians, witches, foragers, every type of citizen you could
imagine. Everyone contributes to Catalena in their own way and keeps it safe for the cats that live there.

Chess has quite the knack for "magic tricks". His favorite things about the festival is dusting off his dingy stand, hanging up a poster or two to attract the local kits over for an overly-priced illusion. Most other cats see him as a trickster, a spam, using silly card tricks as a way to make some extra gold. But... it goes deeper than that. Chess it an incredible gifted magician, and no, not the one with the top hats and capes. No, he is a powerful mage. Using his skill for good and personal gain, Chess walks the then line between villain and hero on a daily basic. Going from using his magic to cheat in an incredibly high-stakes poker game to stopping a thief without batting an eye, most cats don't have a clue on where he stands.
This doesn't matter to him of course, he knows he isn't a "bad person". Well, maybe in the traditional sense but he knows he's not bad. Chess thinks of himself as type of "Robin Hood", taking from the foolish and helping those in need. His reputation scares most, but Chess is know in his guild for being kind-hearted, loyal, and integrous. He is a joker as well, keeping the mood light in otherwise drab conversations. He also brings in a lot of money, so that's a plus.

Eve gave a scrutinizing look at the suits he was going to wear to the festival for his stand, "melancholy candles" read his banner. He picked a soft orange tux, sighing as he set up samples and breathed a plume of fiery life into them. The small sampling candles flickered happily, ticking his whiskers. He smiled at the candles and melted the waxes into their ball jars. Kits yammered around him, their mothers and fathers racing around. A few cats stopped to smell the candles and purchased the scented waxes. Candles, candles, candles. That's all he did every year. Well, this year was going to be different, after he sold his last candles he was going to play some fair games and go home into his guild's cozy manor, and make himself a nice cup of coffee- and then, relax. No festival equals, calm. Serenity at last.
