Flicker had always been noticeable. His fiery pelt, personality and
strive for a brighter world... He embraced the responsibility his striking presence demanded.
Heck, he could probably outshine the force he was named after, fire, too.
Oh, how wrong he could be.
"H... Help!"
Everything was ablaze. Foundations surrendered to the tongues of death. The floor
was writhing in flames. There was no roof, but a billowing black hole of smoke smothered the
air. Smothered life. Smothered Flicker.
Hacking up something awful, he dragged himself towards the exit. There were familiar cats
beyond it: his friends, frozen and afraid. He tried again, gritting through it, "Please, any of you! I--"
Suddenly, a tremble; a beam came crashing onto Flicker's crawling world. He tried dodging
but his legs, his lungs--his everything--failed on him. A loop of building wire managed to slip around
his neck, tightening into a thin scar. Still, his friends remained motionless. Watching.
Flicker was sobbing now. He couldn't breath. He didn't understand why his friends
weren't running back for him...
...and then he realised.
Against the blinding inferno, they couldn't see him. Over the roaring heat, they couldn't hear him.
To the merciless fire, his friends thought he was gone.
For the first time in his life, Flicker was going unnoticed.
Fitting, right? He's taunted the flames his entire life; it was about time he was cursed by them. A
fresh scar isn't the only reminder of this humbling; he irrationally fears fire now, too.
But since then, he noticed he had changed for the better. He started noticing his new
clanmates--new friends--and it turns out being being unnoticeable isn't so bad when you're
together. The responsibility to shine doesn't have to be alone.
That is the brighter world Ablazestorm would strive for.

((Note: If it's not clear, the scar is thin and around his neck, like a choker!))
