My grandmother passed away today. She became very ill very fast. She did not look the same as she did in the past. She lost weight, became more ill and finally passed peacefully. I think of how she disliked the way she looked after she became so ill. She would stare at herself in the mirror and think 'What happened to me.' It was very difficult to see that she couldn't come to terms with herself because of the way she looked. The song Reflections brings out what she was feelings in a whole new light. In a way that she probably wouldn't of been able to explain herself. And Mulan was one of our favorite movies. So this song is extra special in this sense. the works of lewis carroll, or charles dodgson, impacted me immensely when i was smaller and has helped me to become the person that i am today. it is one of my biggest means of inspiration and has been for as long as i can remember, the biggest of these being "alice's adventures in wonderland." when i was little, i had always wondered what my very own wonderland would be like; for all one knows, it could very well have a duchess, who carries around a small pig in a swaddle and a cook that rather enjoys adding pepper to most of her dishes, despite her tendency to sneeze. a thing of imagination. though perhaps i do not need to rely on my imagination to live in a world of wonder, perhaps i already do. every single day has the potential to be a day full of absolute beauty, a thing of sheer wonder and joy simply hidden beneath the gloomy exterior. doesn't just the thought of it make it worth a try? i thank you for your time, and i hope that this song is able to give as much joy to you as it has given to me!!

Gosh, where do I start? Anastasia was one of my favorite animated movies. The soundtrack and animation wowed me as a kid, despite growing up with Disney movies my whole life. I hadn't really seen anything like it before; a female main character who stood up for herself, had quite a bit of spunk, but yet had such a kind and empathetic personality. She was even smart and funny to boot! Her determination to get what she wanted really inspired me, especially when I was going through some really rough patches. I was able to relate to her moments of insecurity. I hadn't really seen a character feel more... real. I've grown up with pretty bad anxiety and PTSD, so to see such a strong female character meant a lot to me. So, when I saw this kalon's face, it reminded me of the hope Anastasia exuded throughout the movie. (And maybe reminded me a little of Pooka, too... lol)

Both the song and the movie have always been a sort of comfort for me. I belivee Wall-e was definitely one of the first adorable little robots I fell in love with, and the movie never fails to make me cry. While I don't remember there being any rainbows i the movie, the space scene is absolutely stunning and was the first thing I thought of when I set out looking for a film and song. The theme of the movie is wholeheartedly good, and the characters, while never having much dialogue, express themselves so wonderfully through the animations and interactions. Lae Vie en Rose is one of the first songs I turn to when I need a bit of comfort or I'm feeling lovey-dovey, so the choice for this song was clear <3
I really feel this kal captures the wholehearted love for nature and those around us, as well as the curiosity of life.... the same feeling I get from Wall-e and hope to pass on.
