Nutmeg has a past that she can look back on and feel happy and nostalgic. She was adopted as a calf - hardly weaned from her mother because it was a small, bad breeder - by a family with a young daughter who had a dream to own a cow. The family knew nothing about raising calves, so needless to say, they made some mistakes. Despite their problems, Nutmeg is very glad to have the opportunity to have been raised by them. She had a very unique upbringing due to the nature of her situation. She can distinctly remember times when the young girl would take her inside the house - without the parents knowing, of course, and feed her straight from the fridge. As she got older, Nutmeg sometimes gave the girl rides on her back as if she was a horse. Nutmeg bonded greatly with this family. She learned how to be a bonafide pet cow, and she greatly enjoyed the attention. Time passed in this ideal situation. As the family grew older, Nutmeg’s golden years became slightly less golden. The little girl became a teenager, with time to study and not much else. The parents were ready to retire and travel the world rather than raise a cow. Soon enough, they were looking for a new home for Nutmeg. Nutmeg was extremely sad to lose her family, but she knew it came with benefits. She would finally became the apple of someone else’s eye. She would gains friends that were cows, not just humans and dogs. So, she welcomed the new family. A lady who owned a barn contacted Nutmeg’s family, and with a thorough background check, the lady was deemed fit and right to become Nutmeg’s new owner. So, with a somber, but sweet goodbye, Nutmeg left her family and joined her new herd.
