I know the story was supposed to be short but I got carried away!
Username: Queen Vivane
Name: Viper
Gender: Female
Taming Prompt:
The scarred queen stared hard at the dark haired woman, long tail lashing wildly as she backed away. The woman did nothing merely continued to watch while the Skepluvi panicked, deep red eyes narrowed in barely veiled anger as the queen's screams of terror bombarded her ears. None of it was directed toward the terrified queen who stood shaking at the back of the outdoor arena, rather at the ones who had made her like this. The woman had rescued plenty of creatures and many of them had indeed been scared due to suffering from mistreatment but never had she encountered one that screamed if she got too close. This was going to be incredibly difficult but that didn't mean Isabela was going to give up without one hell of a fight.
Turning her back, the woman closed her eyes trying to think of a way to get through to the terror that assailed the poor scarred queen.
"The things you must have you seen, the life you lived? None of that matters now that you're here because I'm not going to give up on giving a damn about you. Know this, if I ever find those responsible they shall suffer at my hands. That I promise you" Isabela whispered as the screams died in volume, giving way to fearful chirps and squeaks. With a sigh she slid down to the floor back against the fence as she rifled through her pockets for any sort of tidbit that she might leave out for the queen. Finding nothing had her head thudding back against the fence in frustration. She must have used her last of her pocket tidbits on the last poor post soul she'd taken in.
A rustle drew the woman's attention to the white form that had moved into her line of sight. Neria gave a slightly garbled chirp of greeting and trotted over to Isabela, dropping a bag and nudging it toward the woman. Examining it brought a smile to her face.
"Clever girl, this is exactly what I need right now" Isabela breathed standing and catching the white queen in an embrace. "This may help our dear lady, Viper" came the quiet whisper as the white queen squeaked happily in her embrace. Releasing Neria, the woman opened the bag and drew out a handful of dried mixed fruit and various nuts. Tossing them into the arena for Viper to find once she and Neria gave the other queen some space.
After leading the white queen away, the dark haired woman made her way up onto the roof of the tack shed. Settling back against the wall of the barn in order to keep an eye on Viper, the colourful queen was tentatively wandering the arena. Occasionally snatching up a morsel from the floor and keeping an incredibly wary eye on her surroundings.
Several weeks passed by and Isabela was fraying, there had been no progress with the dark queen. Viper just as terrified as the day she had arrived and the woman despaired over that fact. The day had dawned bright and beautiful despite Isabela's bleak mood, still she tended to her many charges with a tired kindness. As had become the usual thing she made her way over to Viper's paddock and hopped the fence.
"Good afternoon beautiful lady, how are we today?" Isabella asked wearily as Viper immediately shot to the back of the paddock. Squeaking in fear and trembling violently. It wasn't a surprise when the heavens opened and the gathering storm unleashed itself. Growing closer and closer until it was directly overhead, less than two seconds between the books of thunder and bright flashes of lightning. It was there under the snarling sky that Isabela broke down, the pressure and stress finally becoming too much. Tears pooled in her ears and ran down her cheeks mixing with the raindrops.
"What do you want from me?! What happened to her is not my fault! I've been doing everything to try and save her!" She screamed at the sky. "Everything" the dark haired woman sobbed, sinking to her knees and simply letting the tears fall all while sobs wracked her frame. The rain continuing to soak her still form. A soft nudge to the side of her face distracted her and when she looked up, her dark eyes met the vivid yellow eyes of Viper. The scarred queen gently licked the woman's tears away and nuzzled her again, trying to offer comfort the best way she could.
"Imagine that, all it took was a thunderstorm and a breakdown on my part to get through to you" Isabela laughed as Viper licked her again.
Unless I post somewhere, I'm not selling/trading closed species critters.
