Breed Information
Scottish Beranhunds (Canis ursidae) are apex predators originating in northern Scotland. They are mainly carnivores and mostly eat deer, fish, and seals. Depending on their location they sometimes come in to contact with cattle and will prey on them. All Beranhunds are wild until captured by their handler or it is a breeding. . The breed wears a Halti. the canine equivalent of a halter.

What do we have here? This beran seems to have two mutations rather new to the species. it
lacks the standard fluff and is rather slim in coat type. not to mention those markings and
another bear tail!

So for this milestone. pretty up your forms, write a story about their hardships due to their
lack of fluff, markings etc. and you are allowed one extra of your choosing. forms must be
posted here and no linking to them please. kennels need to be linked also as always.

Hardships?
Hah.

No such thing. His skin is iron, his will steel.
You don’t need long fur to protect yourself from the whipping winds when you are the toughest Beranhund that was ever born. You don’t need a long tail to cover your paws and nose in blisteringly cold temperatures when you are iron personified.
There is no such thing as a sleepless night, the hours passing with the speed of a moving mountain, curled as tight as you can make yourself in an attempt to save extremities from the cold.
There’s no such thing as a failed hunt, prey slipping from your frozen paws because you couldn’t flex them properly.
There’s no crippling loneliness, shunned from groups or reacted to aggressively by strangers because of the differences between you and them.
There are no hardships, when you’re as tough as Hissrad.

At least, none that the stubborn male would admit.
Hissrad has put a pressure on himself, driven by his physical differences to siblings and other Berans that he met in his youth, to be the tough guy. With muscles more visible beneath his short pelt, the male has always wanted to give the impression of being a fighter, a stubborn rock who never backs down. He wants to impress, for others to recognize more than his short pelt and strange markings.
But part of him regrets that. He hates that false confidence that he approaches things with, the cocky sureness that he’ll be loved by all that, more often than not, pushes others farther from him. But it’s a part of his demeanor now, something that he can’t get rid of. Much like the leopard spots that dance across his pelt. He longs for the comfort of others, but more often than not, the boisterous introductions and strong character pushes them away, leaving him alone in the cold once again.

That’s what pushed him towards the humans. The promise of food, the thoughts of heat and warmth, and, most important for the Iron Beran... Company.
