favorite food?; A crisp outside and a soft, chewy inside with a delicious ganache filling, macarons are Mino's favorite food! He's a baker--he even owns his own bakery!--but he struggles with macarons the most. He practiced making them for months on end, trying different recipes and flavors, failing time and time again to make them perfect. (That's okay, though! He ate all of the failures--er, at least the edible ones.) He's finally gotten to the point where he's satisfied enough to sell them!

favorite food?; Taki loves a hearty vegetable soup. The play on textures provided by the different vegetables, and the subtle feel of home he gets from it, he just loves every aspect of the soup. Not to mention the soup gives him comfort and is healthy.

"Milo, wake up!"
After a couple of sleepy blinks, Milo focused his eyes at the sound of his mother's voice. Sunlight wafted through the low-hanging curtains, casting a warm light on the carpet rug below the bed. He could hear the birds as they sang their early morning song in the beginning rays of sun, and in the distance he could hear the clanging or dishes and silverware as the table was being prepared for breakfast.
Slowly Milo got to his feet, rubbing the rest of the sleepiness out of his eyes as he made his way to the dining room. A familiar scent teased his nose and he felt a tinge of excitement. On the table was a pile of fluffy yellow eggs with steam still waving at the top. There was another plate stacked with bacon, and another with freshly toasted bread piled high. The last plate was covered with a cloth, and already he knew what it was. All of the scents came and mingled together to give the beautiful aroma of a freshly homemade breakfast, although one scent in particular stood out. A sugary smell, but something with a hint of both salty and sweet.
Milo was greeted by his mother's warm smile and he couldn't help but return a smile of his own. "Good morning sunshine!" She motioned to the table for him to sit down. "Your momma was working hard all morning. Happy birthday, lil champ."
Obediently Milo sat down, though he bounced a little, because he was still excited. "Oh thank you so much momma!! Can I eat now? Can I?"
His mother laughed, the sound sweet and smooth like honey, a fond memory. "Okay, okay, come now." She sat down lightly and slid the covered plate towards her son with a pleasant smile on her face and looked at him rather expectantly.
And Milo couldn't contain his excitement. He pulled open the cloth as fast as he could, and there on the plate was a stack of freshly-baked cookies, still warm and soft from out of the oven, and his mouth watered in delight. They weren't just any cookies. White chocolate macadamia, the kind his mother had made him since he was little, the ones he would always beg her to make.
And they also weren't just white chocolate macadamia. On the top was a gentle icing lettering that told him, "happy 9th birthday". He grinned ear to ear and picked it up quickly. "Thank you, thank you so much momma!!!" He all but shouted, earning a small laugh from his mother.
"Happy birthday, little one."

The day has been slow
