Intake Report: Nubby Tail & Rump Spikes | Damaged Jaw & Teeth | Removed Front Claws | Scars On Muzzle, Front Legs, & Hindquarters
"As one of the first Skepluvi unloaded from the trailers, this jack caught everyone's attention right away - not only for their flashy colors, but for the very apparent scarring and damage they carried with them. They had all the tell-tale signs of having been used as a racer within the illegal track circuit - their tail spikes had been burned down to nubs to keep them compliant, their front claws had been removed so they couldn't rip apart the painful racing gear, and this wasn't to mention the scars along their skin. Their front paws and muzzle were streaked with lines from wire bindings and their hindquarters were scattered with v-shaped slices commonly seen on Skepluvi's that knew the feel of a metal racing crop. It seems this jack had seen some very nasty damage to their teeth to boot - their jaw had been wired shut for so long that they could barely open their mouth, and the lack of ability to graze caused awful sores and swelling along their jawline over time. Our veterinary staff had to remove all their infected and cracked teeth with the exception of only their front top bucked teeth, though even those had to be clipped down as they were misaligned and overgrown. Since this poor jack isn't able to tear or crush their favorite cacti foods with their mouth anymore, and their front paws are too sensitive and sore from being painfully declawed years ago to even be able to grab or pick up scraps, they will need to be gently hand fed by their caretaker to start regaining weight. They will also need their front teeth trimmed every so often from now on, since Skepluvi teeth grow constantly if not in use. Most of all they will need help learning how to play, socialize, and maneuver through life without the use of their front paws or their tail spikes. All of this of course pertains to whether or not they can learn to truly trust humans again - otherwise, their future seems dim - so it's all up to you now!"
