- "Alright kittens! It's time to show those
monsters who's boss. Is this your first raid?
Well you're in for a treat then! What we're
fighting is 10 times the size of you doubled,
and we barely have enough fighters and
mages on this side of catelena to wrangle a
snail. Remember in battle to take care of
yourself first, do everything you can to keep
that noggin of yours on your shoulders I guess.
Raids aren't all about the glory, cats die in
these situations. You're my responsibility,
and I don't like losing people. Draw your
weapons, and fight FOR CATELENA!"

Raids
Raids are the combat portion of the catacombs ARPG. During raids, your mage and fighter characters fight against monsters
and defend catelena from threats. When the enemy is defeated, the cats who fought are awarded with EXP, items, and potentially
currency.
So how does a raid work? Raids are turn based, and involve the citizens of catelena fighting against the enemy that is being raided. Read all of the following to understand how to participate in a raid.

So how does a raid work? Raids are turn based, and involve the citizens of catelena fighting against the enemy that is being raided. Read all of the following to understand how to participate in a raid.
- 1) CALL FOR ACTION!
When Kestrel is alerted of a threat to Catelena, she will issue a call for action (a post on this thread) that describes the threat, location, and amount of cats required to fight. In the call for action, there will be a form that you can fill out to join the party of combatants. If you have multiple cats that have combat roles i.e.) mage or fighter, you must register each cat using a separate form. The form will include the following requirements:
- Username:
Link to the cat being registered:
Cat hit point total (according to combat role level):
Cat combat role:
Type of weapon / Magic in use:
Damage dealt by magic / weapon:
Equipped item (only one per cat):
2) THE RAID BEGINS!
The raid will occur on a separate thread from this one, it will be linked in the post for the call for action. The subject of the post will either say CATELENA'S TURN or ENEMY TURN. The raid will always start with CATELENA'S TURN.
You will fill out a form to determine what your character(s) are doing during catelena's turn. They may each do one of the following:
- ATTACK THE ENEMY
ATTACK THE ENEMY + USE ITEM
DEFEND FROM THE ENEMY + USE ITEM
DEFEND FROM THE ENEMY
2.1) ATTACK THE ENEMY: Attacking the enemy inherently does damage to the enemy equivalent to whatever the damage of your cat's weapon / magic is. However, when you attack the enemy, the enemy is also capable of attacking you. There is a chance that you will take damage for attacking the enemy on the ENEMY TURN that follows.
2.2) ATTACK THE ENEMY + USE ITEM: If you attack the enemy while using an attack item you have equipped, the properties of the item you used will go into effect immediately and last for the rest of the turn. The only items that can be used in this case are attack items, such as a tangy leaf or hearty mushrooms. That boost your cats damage. When attacking while using an item, there is a chance that the enemy will attack you on the following ENEMY TURN.
2.3) DEFEND FROM THE ENEMY + USE ITEM: If you defend from the enemy while using a defense item you have equipped such as sweet berries, the properties of the item take effect immediately. In the case of sweet berries, your cat will regain 30 HP. After a defence, you must attack on the following turn.
2.4) DEFEND FROM THE ENEMY: If you defend from the enemy, you do not do any damage to the enemy. The enemy cannot attack you on the ENEMY TURN that follows. After a defence, you must attack on the following turn.
The turns will repeat until one of the two sides is defeated.
3) THE RAID IS OVER!
The raid is over for one of two reasons:
- ENEMY HAS BEEN DEFEATED
CATELENA HAS BEEN DEFEATED
3.1) ENEMY HAS BEEN DEFEATED: Catelena has won! Every cat who fought and did not retreat will be rewarded with full EXP and any items or currency included in the prize pool. If you retreated, you will receive a portion of the EXP.
3.2) CATELENA HAS BEEN DEFEATED: All combatants have retreated. Only a portion of the EXP will be rewarded to the combatants.

What happens when a cat hits 0 hit points?
If your cat reaches 0 hit points during an enemy turn, you will have the opportunity to use a defense item such as sweet berries on the
CATELENA TURN that follows. However, your cat must defend on that turn in order to use the item if they are at 0 HP.
If you do not have a healing item, you will be forced to retreat (leave the raid).
Once you retreat, your cat is restored to full health (nothing has to be done in order to do this) but you may not rejoin the raid.
What happens to my items after the raid?
Any items that you use in the raid must be removed from your guild's inventory, regardless of whether catelena wins or if your cat is forced to
retreat. If you do not use your item in the raid, you may return it to your inventory afterwards.
Can I join a raid when it is ongoing?
No, you may only join a raid during a call for action. Do not post on the raid thread when the raid is ongoing.
Please ask questions if you are confused!
A simple raid example can be seen here.
