"You do know that family is important, don't you?" The mother cat's tail wrapped around her one kit, as he struggled to break away from his cleaning. "Yeah," he said, giving up the fight. "But I want to be an adventurer, leave it all behind!" The female was quiet, straightening the fur on top of his head. "I was like you when I was younger, wanting adventure. I found it, but I missed my family later." The tiny kit peered up at his mother, "what did you do? why did you miss them?" "Well," she started reluctantly. "I left my humans when the door was open. I ran for as far as I could, as long as I could, just to taste freedom. When I found I didn't know where I was, I stayed out there. I chased butterflies, hunted mice, splashed in streams, bathed atop trees in the warm sunlight. But I missed my friends and wanted to go back. I never did find them again." Her words sounded wistful and young Silas leaned into her fur," don't worry Mom, I won't ever leave you. I'll be strong so I can always take care of you." The older cat purred, "Thank you, but don't let me hold you back." "I won't, Mom. I'll have great adventures and be a warrior like the cats in the forest. But I'll stay close. I don't want to lose you like you lost your friends."

His owner's partner spoils him with treats and petting, which he highly approves of. The only one he isn't very close to is Mocha, who is a little distant with everyone.

Overall, he loves his family more than anything, and is fiercely loyal to all of them (even Mocha). He can't imagine his life anywhere else or with anyone else.

Ruben's bond with those he considers family is complicated to say the least. While he is loyal to them, and will often go out of his way to defend them from harm. He can be a bit reluctant to risk his life for them. Considering that from what past experiences have taught him, it's that family isn't always everything.

Because of this, Ruben is only loyal and protective to a select few. Including his current owner. Whom he sees as not only a close friend, but as a sort of fatherly figure as well. Considering his current owner was the one who had helped nurse him back to health after the circumstances he was found in. Which is why he often looks out for the human whenever they have impolite company over. Such as either swiping at unsuspecting feet, staring menacingly from afar or simply hissing at whoever it is he dislikes. When he isn't in protective mode, he often enjoys either cuddling with his human or simply mucking around with him.

While Ruben doesn't remember much of his biological family, it is safe to say that he feels no loyalty or care for them. Especially after they abandoned him at the hands of his previous owner. Whom of which he now hates to this day with every bit of his heart and soul. Therefore, whatever bond he may have had with both his biological family and his previous owner in the past has long since been shattered.

Overall, Ruben doesn't view those who are either related to him or have treated him poorly as family. Therefore, doesn't believe that they are worth his loyalty and protection. However, when it comes to those he does view as family. Then he will do everything he can to keep them safe.

Despite the differences in their age and personalities, she remained close with Bonnie, visiting whenever she felt the need, but she has a new family now, one that she cares for with every fiber of her being. Her new clowder is her found family, and it shifts and changes season to season, but she loves them all the same. She struggles constantly with her preference for being alone; she does enjoy the company of her new family, but she is by nature a loner, despite knowing that the clowder supports her and enables her to live a happier, healthier life. Their erstwhile leader due to her age, Rose fights to raise the young cats of her clowder to feel confident and self-reliant while also nurturing the trust that she feels a child and parent (or pseudo parent) must have, something she didn't really get from her own mother.
