How does your kalon convince Thatcher to give you one of his diamonds for an engine part? | ThatPinkThing | sign up post326 wordsEleanor quite liked Thatcher-- nearly as much as she liked Carter. Thatcher was quirky and funny and cute. Eleanor collected some of her strangest knick-knacks that she had found while strolling the beach and set off to find the gem-loving kalon.
She found Thatcher at the entrance to the cave system, thankfully. Eleanor was adventurous, but she wasn't keen on spelunking. She bounced up to Thatcher, planting herself on some large rocks and dumping her treasures out. "Hey, dude!" She waved Thatcher over. "I wanna make a trade. We need something tough to help fix the ship, and I thought, 'Thatch's just the guy to go to!' so I brought some of my best finds to see if you'd be interested in trading me something like... a diamond, perhaps?" Eleanor smiled sheepishly and gestured to her offerings.
Among the items were a driftwood piece that looked
incredibly like a crab, an old soda bottle with an angry hermit crab living in it, and a frisbee that had become home to so many barnacles, it was hardly recognizable. Thatcher looked over everything carefully, picking things up gently and eyeing them. He bit his lip and swished his tail as he thought. Eleanor waited patiently, admiring his collection at the cave entrance.
Dozens of stones sparkled and shimmered in the sunlight. Some more odd things, like broken pieces of treasures and potentially fake doubloons lay among the piles, but Thatcher was clearly a man of taste. Even broken pieces still looked lovely on their own, standing like abstract sculptures. As time passed, Eleanor upped her offer.
"I'll trade you all these things for one diamond," she said, leaning to the side. Thatcher's eyes widened, and he nodded.
"Deal!"
Eleanor beamed and took the lovely stone that Thatcher fetched for her. "Thank you so much, Thatch! I'll make sure everyone knows you're the hero who provided us the final puzzle piece." She winked as she bounced off, waving farewell.
