How does your kalon relax?
It's nice to walk in the meadow early in the morning. The sun only rises in the sky, the rays are not hot yet - they gently touch Iris' face. Everything around him is incredibly beautiful. He walks barefoot on the grass, knocking cold dewdrops from leaflets, and they sparkle like diamonds under his paws. A charming picture of a summer meadow makes him smile, he breathes clean air. Looking up at the gentle curly clouds he dreams of the long journeys they have.
Iris admires beautiful flowers, he smiles from such an abundance of colors, being as colorful. So many flowers in the meadow, like the Mother Nature decorated this corner of nature herself.
Here is chamomile - its white petals are often used for fortune-telling. Everything seems simple: loves me - loves me not, but you always want the last petal to be: "loves me".
Blue little bellflowers swing from the gentle breeze, and Iris almost hears ding, ding, ding! How melodious and reverent this music of flowers is.
And here is the pink-red balls of clover, bright and fluffy, attracting busy buzzing bees! Iris cannot stop looking at their nectar feast.
Cornflowers catch his eye with their quirkiness. They are so lacy as if blue snowflakes showered the earth on a summer day.
Iris doesn't want to leave the meadow, doesn't want to leave its generous beauty that inspires every soul with pleasant emotions and warm summer happiness.
How magnificent nature is! How much-unrivaled generosity in it, because everything that we see gives us pleasure. The birds singing, flowers blooming, the sun shining! There are a lot of enchanting natural gifts, and all of this Iris wants to see, enjoy and remember!
Having admired plenty of this summer splendor, he wants to collect an armful of flowers and take them back home to enjoy summer even longer. But he knows that their beauty is short-lived and will fade even quicker. Iris will still have photos that he takes today, trying not to miss any of the beautiful flowers. Pacified by the sweet aroma of a flower meadow, warmed by the gentle summer sun, he lays down on fresh grass and falls into a pleasant nap.

how does your kalon relax?
venita, palmer, & rudy - the beach? | 390 words
another day off. venita couldn't have been happier. rudy decided that he'd spend his time out on the beach, maybe taking a dip or just soaking up some sun. he invited his roommates to join him, and while venita said she'd think about it, palmer shook his head, immediately dismissing the idea.
"sorry, kiddo. a flame like me doesn't like the possibility of getting wet." he made a face, grimacing at the thought of the ocean. "besides, i've got work to do. but enjoy yourself."
with a playful protest, rudy was out the door, leaving ven and palmer in silence. ven was sprawled across her bed, letting herself rest. thank god palmer was quiet; with rudy around, it was often hard to relax. palmer sat at the small table in their room, scratching his head as he thought about whatever it was he had in front of him. parts, of some kind: too small to be useful for the ship, and too blue. the metal was strange, but the man fiddled with it as if he'd pieced it all together before.
he cursed, alerting the other kalon in the room. ven sat up, leaning against the wall. "hey... are you good?" she glanced over to him, watching him grab at a finger that he'd jammed, somehow. "you know you can take a break. we're on vacation. it's time to let loose."
he smiled, and once again shook his head. "this is important. i know it seems like a little odd job of mine, i have to fix this damn thing. or at least get the..."
at this point, ven stopped listening to his ramble. even if palmer wanted to do some work, there was no way he'd be able to get anything done if he was frustrated like this. she pulled herself out of bed, walking over to the door.
"c'mon, palmer."
he whipped around, puzzled. "chilling out might seem like a waste of time, but believe me. you're not going to finish squat if you're getting pissed so easily. come clear your head at the beach." she stuck her hand out to him, gesturing for him to come along.
palmer let out a sigh before standing up himself. he smiled. "fine, fine, you win. but you two better not try and push me in the water."

“I’m looking for the best place on the island to relax, can you recommend anywhere?” Oxford asked Joan, one of the local islanders, “Shark told me it was about time I did!”
“If you head out towards the mermaids’ lagoon, walk along the coast eastwards for a little bit and then head into the trees you’ll find just what you’re looking for!” Joan replied enthusiastically before adding, “It’s my favourite place in the whole island!”
Oxford nodded his thanks and, with a spring in his step and his lunch in his pockets, followed the directions he had been given by the lady until he came across a clearing in the palm trees visible from the shoreline. Against the trees were all kinds of beautiful flowers and ferns in every colour imaginable, some even looked as if they had been dipped in paint to frame the picture-perfect view before him even more beautifully.
Between two trees was the most stunning rope hammock, presumably the work of Joan herself, with interwoven cowrie and scallop shells. From the hammock was a direct view of the clearing on one side and on the other a direct view of the lagoon extending out towards the sea. Oxford, unable to contain himself, crawled into the hammock and pulled out his sandwich. He was about to have his first bite when a seagull landed at his feet and tilted its head. Oxford tried kicking his legs to unseat the gull but it was determined to stay put and simply hopped from one leg to the other to avoid being removed, the whole time staring him down with its soulless eyes.
Again, Oxford moved to take a bite of the sandwich but was interrupted by a passive aggressive squawk and an angry rustling of his feathers. The call had appeared to summon a friend because it didn’t take long for another seagull to swoop down and land on his legs, resulting two angry, hungry seagulls watching him intently. Oxford chose to ignore them and began to eat his sandwich as he glared back at them. This disobeying of their instructions resulted in them screaming at him repeatedly and flapping their wings in anger. They began to take it in turns running down his body or swooping past to try and steal bites for themselves seeing as he wouldn’t give it to them, but each time he moved it away from them at the last second. No seagulls were eating his sandwich.
Soon, he had finished it and the seagulls, having gone quiet as soon as he had finished the last mouthful, flew off to pester someone else for food squawking angrily at the clouds. Oxford had won.
Once he had made himself comfortable on the hammock again, Oxford plugged in his earphones and closed his eyes to the sound of his favourite band, the Eagles, filling his ears and tuning out the sound of the demanding seagulls. His music surely would be just the right thing to relax him. That was until he felt a pair of webbed feet land on his feet again while another landed on his thigh and began pecking at his pocket. The seagulls had found his biscuits. There would be no peace for Oxford this afternoon.

user: suds, hi! / kalon: saki / team: octopi | feat. monty, carter, & brandy!
xxxxwith the sun setting into a watercolor sky behind the boys, the fun was just beginning. “youre missing out on THIS action, brandy!” carter called, flexing his biceps unnecessarily as he shoved his puck across the board. “its all about being gentle, you goliath,” monty mumbled, holding up 9 fingers to saki, who was faithfully keeping score. brandy scoffed, adjusting his shades as the sun went down.
xxxx“my shuffleboarding days are over...” the bartender said, relishing in his break away from his job. though mixing drinks was his passion, he was sure getting a kick out of watching carter and monty bicker. “ohhh!” the two groaned at brandys comment, carter in interest and monty in annoyance. he had heard this story many times. saki noticed their expressions, and tapped brandy on the shoulder, asking.
xxxx“they want to know why i dont play shuffleboard anymore.” he said to saki, letting him read his lips. saki signed back a simple ‘why’? with a tilt of his head. brandy rose from his chair, holding his arms out with flair as he looked into the distance. “once.. i was the greatest player in all of shuffleboard-land,” he rumbled off. monty shook his head and flicked his puck across the board.
xxxx‘11’ he mouthed to saki, who wrote the score on the white board stationed outside. he handed his stick to carter, who was so entranced it just fell to the floor. monty tried again, and again it fell. he shoved it into the architects hand. “i could put grandpas in hawaiian print to shame in a single game,” he looked back at saki and pointed to monty secretly, who was clad in such attire. saki didnt understand, but smiled anyways.
xxxxthe professor turned the enamored architect around so he can make his play. he shoved his piece across the board, squinting at monty as if to say ‘there,’ but monty just stifled his laughter as the puck flew off the board under a chair. saki saw the slip-up, and added a big 0 to carters score. “but one game i took too far... i was taking my last shot.... and i slipped..” he ended dramatically.
xxxx“my reputation was ruined...” brandy reminisced. carter let out a sympathetic ‘aww..’ while monty grumbled and shoved his puck across the board. he held up 10 fingers to saki. “i cant play without reliving that experience,” he sat back down in his chair. “so i stay behind the bar... far away from shuffleboard.... for my own good.” carter patted brandys leg, “hey itll be okay man. you are strong.” brandy nodded, “thank y-“
xxxxcarter interrupted him by grabbing the stick. “but not as strong as THIS!” he spun around and shoved his puck forcefully, snapping the stick in half. everyone threw their hands up. “carter thats the 5th one this week!” monty whined, exasperated.
xxxxsaki quietly added another 0 to the scoreboard.

Tris never relaxes, in fact she doesn't know how to relax. Tris works a soul destroying job writing websites, leaflets and other bits for large companies. As a freelance ghost writer and perfectionist it's not work she can just put down. When she's working on a piece it occupies her thoughts at all times and when she's not working on a piece she's constantly checking her emails and worrying about when the next piece of work is going to come in.
Tris is also writing a novel, which used to be relaxing but now even that stresses her out. She's been working on it for years and she is so unhappy with her lack of progress that it's becoming an obstacle in itself. She had a five year plan that's been completely destroyed by her inability to finish and publish her novel.
This Kruise is Tris' first holiday since she was in school. Even on the boat she was using her phone to check emails for assignments and trying to write her novel. Being stranded on this island is probably the best thing that could have happened to her, no signal, no power, no stress. Finally, a chance for her to relax and refocus.
Unfortunately, Tris' body is not used to relaxing and she feels constantly agitated by having nothing to do. She's taken up repetitive tasks, such as sorting rocks and picking up litter to occupy her mind without being too mentally taxing. Which for Tris is about as relaxed as you'll ever see her.
