After all this work you've been doing, you must be exhausted. It's your vacation, so today you should just chill. How does your kalon relax?

Truth to be told after all the adventures that had occurred since being stranded on Kalokairi island, Radford was exhausted. Not physically in any capacity, since he did every and any activity back home to stay away from his sad excuse of an apartment, but mentally. Nor that he truly deep-down hated to socialise even though that's the vibe he had going on. It wasn't even that he suffered from any real social anxiety but that he had a limit to how many interactions could endure before his soul screamed out for solitude.

It was that tickling time bomb in the back of his mind that he surrendered to when he quickly walked to his cabin and grabbed his charged phone and earbuds. It was the tenseness he felt in his neck and shoulders that propelled him to leave the ship and head towards the wilderness (where he knew from previous experience most preferred not to venture into). It was his racing heart and the pounding in his ears that ensured he kept to a brisk walk and acknowledged nothing and no one around him. He eventually found a spot deep in the jungle where he was sure he wouldn't be discovered.

He heaved a huge sigh of relief.
He put in his earbuds.
He pressed play.

If anyone had stumbled across him they would have seen an astonishing sight; the edgy and normally sullen Radford dancing and singing his heart out betwixt the palm trees with not a care in the world.

"Chill, chill. Yes, I have to be chill. It's my vacation in the end right?"

I pace back and forth on the beach before heaving a big sigh, filling my lungs with salty breeze from the shore. I was so used to running errands around the island, pulling big favours around constantly like it was a sack of priorities. Well yes, saving the kruise from its doom is a very important priority (or else we're stuck eating rocks here) but my top priority, should be taking care of myself is it not? Every time I think like that I seem selfish and hot headed, but how can you blame me when I am always trying to perform good deeds for my scaredy baby shark, Caro. I shake my head to release any sand still clung onto it. No, Shark is not the problem. I just need some time to relax.....chill.

How can one even be relaxed now a days, especially when there's 0 caffeine on the island to start, and that we have to fix a boat with such limited materials! Chill.. I must remind myself.

I scrummage around my old bag until I find the flyer I found on the day we docked. Aha. Perhaps a spa would do me some good? Maybe those hot rocks they use will boil my soul away. I already like the sound of it. Lets do it, I tell myself confidently.

Next thing I know, slimy cucumbers are cooling the tips of my eyelashes. What's with cucumbers and spas? Either way, I love it. The massage hurts a lot, and I wonder to myself why spas are always so intense when they're supposed to be relaxing. But I soon understand. I feel as if the wight had fallen off of my shoulders, flying freely like a dove at noon. How nice this feeling is. Spas must be underrated for how much they do. I think I'll come here a lot to get my sanity back.

This pineapple juice cocktail was disgusting.

That was the thought Syrilli had put forth the most effort to focus on.
Truth be told, it was taking way longer than he had expected for the ship
to be fixed. Not that that was anyone's fault- It wasn't Shark's fault that
he was the only competent mechanic on such a small island.
But althought that might be the case, it wasn't doing any favors for Syrilli's
easily homesick character.

He missed Lucien terribly, and the worst part of that sentiment was knowing
that Lucien might be to busy to even spare a thought to Syrilli's own whereabouts.
As attractive as his cold front was, Lucien could do with at least faking some
more concern for his partner's whereabouts.

Pouting at the thought, Syrilli took another sip of the revolting beverage. He'd been
trying for some time now to wind down and relax, but truth be told it was hard.
Especially since he had dropped his phone into the bay during the surfing compe-
tition.
Every other cruiser seemed to be doing just fine on their own somewhere on the
island, leaving Syrilli even lonelier. He almost went to the bar, but figured false
familiarity from the bartend and other patrons would throw him even further
off the deep end.

Groaning, Syrilli leaned back in the makeshift beach chair he had crafted from
duck tape and a broken lawn seat, and stared out at the surf.

Taking another drink, he grimaced. Even Lucien's whiskey tasted better than
this rancid mixture.

Ugh- this was going to be a long week and a half.

Relax? How was Aderyn supposed to relax when her family could catch up with her at any minute? Pacing about her room anxiously, arms crossed against her chest, she breathed a shaky sigh, looking out her foggy window at the coast. It was open, and muggy air scented with sea salt filtered in.
Watching gulls soar above, she slowly began to relax- birds had a way of making her feel safe, ever since she was a child. She watched the coast quietly, calmly, at both the kalons below and the gulls and pelicans catching a meal. She took a few deep breaths before plopping into her bed. Relax- she could relax, right? Aderyn reached for the thick volume by her bed- one of quite the collection she had with her, especially for such a short trip. Reading, however, was Aderyn’s favorite pastime. What seemed like a large stack could take her a mere week to complete.
Soon enough, the hours had wasted away and the sun had begun to set, casting a beautiful array of colors upon the sea. Aderyn was honestly surprised at herself for being to calm down, and more so that she could feel herself changing- becoming more confident, even, on this island. She was growing, in a way, simply by learning how to keep herself at bay- by having to interact with others, and form bonds. Normally she’d shun herself from contact, not wanting to hurt herself or others when she’d have to eventually leave- but it seemed she’d learned to let others in, even in just relax few days she’d been on the island.
With a soft sigh, Aderyn began to drift into the realm of sleep and dreams.

How does your kalon relax?

Nemo dragged his feet to the door of his cabin room. He was exhausted. Running around the island, from kal to kal and hiking on top of that just had him worn out. It was only 5 in the afternoon too, too early to sleep and too late to nap. He reached into his pocket and fished out the key card to his dinky little room. With the chime from the lock, he meandered into the room. His body flopped onto the bed with a thud. He took a deep breath and sighed then flipped his exhausted body over.

He laid there for a few minutes before dragging himself over to the small little desk. He plopped down in the small swivel chair and grabbed the leather-bound journal that was sitting in the far left corner. He flipped through its thick cardstock pages. Many photos, pressed plants, pieces of paper passed his fingers as he flipped to a new page. He reached down into his small bag that was laying on the floor and grabbed out various nicknacks he had collected. He drizzled paste on the backs of some and tapped in others. He mad a whole page layout then grabbed his nice fine tip black pen and started writing about his adventures.

Hours passed and he finally finished 14 pages of adventures. He was sleepy but relaxed. He smiled as he looked down at his work. He put all the supplies away that he had used right back where he grabbed them from, wrapped the journal back up, and stretched.

[ ❧ ] taking a nap in a good old fashioned hammock; just you, it, and some peace and quiet... no talking, no stressing over the kruise ship and persuading mermaids to give up missing ship parts and what gifts to get for loved ones, just the sound of the waves rolling softly over the sand, the light and airy sea breeze, the smell of fresh fruit and the ocean not that far away... for once, you really dont have to do anything. no responsibilities, no foraging for scales or gathering something for anyone, no talking to people when you're already exhausted... you just get to relax and enjoy some down time... snuggle this stuffed macaw plushie you found in a gift shop and pretend you're back home, in your cozy little home, maybe or maybe not curled up in your girlfriend's arms and enjoying the warmth of a freshly cleaned blanket right from the dryer, and the sense of comfort and safety and love that comes from someone you're familiar with. you really miss her, miss the snuggling on the couch or in bed or in a chair together... but you suppose at least you'll have some good stories to tell, and plenty of pictures and postcards to bring back for her to see when you get home.
