After all this work you've been doing, you must be exhausted.
It's your vacation, so today you should just chill.
How does your kalon relax?

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! Willow wakes, alarmed, falling hard on the ground from her bed, THUD! "Owww..." She moaned, rubbing her head which was beginning swell. The door swung open and Shark entered. "Just coming to tell you you have a day off." He huffed, taking a quick glance at willow, lying face down on the floor, he slammed the door after him before she had the chance to yell at him. "Could have done it a nicer way..." Willow murmured under her breath as the noise of the door rang in her hears. She rolled her eyes, "That's Shark for ya." Becoming more stabilized from literally falling on her head, she gathered her attention to what Shark had said, which was clearly more important than her sleep. You have the day off. She repeated this several times until she got the picture. Willow sat and thought for a while, what had she always wanted to do on a beach. Surfing? Sunbathing? Hmmm. As she grabbed a packet of peas from her fridge she spun around. "I know" She smirked. Getting to her feet she turned back around. "No need to do anything!" Flopping into bed she placed a pillow over her head and drifted to sleep. Now that's what I call a day off!

A day of rest, on this wacky trip? Veloria scoffed, that seemed highly doubtful. This entire time, it was one thing wrong after another, and three wrongs don't make a right! Three lefts do though, at least that's what her mother would say. The phrase never made sense to her when she was younger, but it didn't go over her head anymore, thank goodness. She sighed suddenly, feeling her chest drop. Was she- homesick? She'd never really got the feeling, even when she went to all of those summer camps, but that was with friends. She'd made island friends, but the thought of leaving them too didn't do anything to ease the homesickness.

Three minutes alone, and I'm already thinking about mum, huh. She thought, pulling her phone out of her pocket. It's probably time I gave her a call, it's been a little while. As soon as her mom's voice crackled out a hello?, veloria felt her heart soften, and her eyes well up a bit. Hi mom, I miss you. she said quietly, knowing her mother was about to spout out more love than she knew what to do with.

She laughed as her mom told her about what was going on at home, absentmindedly fiddling with a stick. Thanks for talking with me, I was really missing you guys. I'll be home soon! I love you! she chirped as she ended the call, feeling much less homesick, and much more thankful for her sweet mother. Perhaps a day off was a good idea, and not everything was going bonkers this trip.

Eleanor tossed her laundry in her laundry bag and flopped on her bed with a massive sigh. She had taken a nice shower and gotten into her chill clothes: silk pants and a sports bra covered by a soft, oversized cropped tee. She sighed and lolled her head to the side in order to look out the circular window. The waves rocked the docked cruiser slightly, lulling Eleanor into a daze. She grinned peacefully, watching kits on the beach splash each other and adult kals surf the waves. She could stay like that forever, but she knew that the leisure deck would be even nicer. It took a lot of will, but she eventually hauled herself up to a sitting position and stretched. She slipped her flip-flops on and made her way up to the decks where she found exactly what she was looking for.

A few open hammocks called her name as Eleanor made her way to them. She selected one in the shade near the bar, waving hello to Brandy as she settled down to nap in the open air. The ship hammocks were deep, good for napping in without rolling or falling off, and this particular spot was in the shade, so while she got the benefit of the warm summer air, Eleanor wasn't going to be over-crisped by the sun. She quickly fell into a peaceful, dreamy slumber. Napping in a hammock was by far the best way to relax.

Spending most of the day cleaning up the beach, surfing and tending to domestic needs, Hylo finds himself tired and out of energy once again. Even after a nice time at the bar enjoying his cocktail shrimp and fried cod, there was still something with his R&R. Currently, he was on the beach with his toes buried in the sand and staring off into the sea. It was nice, in itself should be relaxing but he still felt on edge. Something had been missing this whole trip, now that things were quiet he felt the sadness seeping in.
He missed his love, Aisha. It was hard to focus on relaxing and getting some sleep when he was alone. They'd been together so long now, he'd only expected to be gone a few days before the ship crashed. Being away from her was hard, the distractions helped but he couldn't keep bothering Shark for ideas and tasks. He sat up a little, resting his hands on his knees and his head on his arms. There was nothing out here to reach her; since phones here were dead useless. Hylo's ear twitched with unease, his mind buzzing with ideas and solutions to his empty feeling.
Lightbulb! He snapped his fingers, turning tail and heading to his hut. Snatching up a pen and paper, he begins to write a letter to Aisha to get out all of his tension. Evening just writing her name made him feel a bit better... He wrote. His adventure, his findings, his new friends and... His feelings, about being happy here but sad to be away from her. Being busy over his head for the first time since his last job, it was a little stressful but nice! His paws glided over the first page, then the second... He had to stop himself by the third page and look over it. With a sigh, he writes his final notes.
"Sorry to ramble so much love, I really miss you ya know! Like the pile of tree sap I am; all sloppy and gross. Anyway, I can't wait to come home, thanks for reading... It makes me feel better to think you might read this in my whiny voice.

relax. you’re on vacation. you’ve been active everyday. your body is sore. relax.
you jumped off a boulder and twisted your ankle. relax.

“i can’t relax!” ruka throws their arms into the air, kicks their legs up—
immediately regrets it, one (1) hurt ankle shooting pain up their nerves. “hng—
god, it doesn’t even sound like a word anymore. relax. rela~ax. relax. sounds
like a medication.”

“you’re thinking of laxatives,” mika points out. “you just have to rest for one day,
ruka. hira and i will keep you company.” he turns to hira. “isn’t that right, babe?”

hira nods, and ruka rolls their eyes. “you think i wanna be trapped in a room all
day with your pda? pass.”

“fine, we’ll leave.” mika grabs hira by the arm and is at the door in an instant.

“n-no, wait! i changed my mind!”

“thought so.”

somewhere in ruka’s head they were thinking, boy howdy i’m never jumping off
anything again, and somewhere else in their head they were already planning to
jump off the same boulder a second time, because surely the results would be
better. obviously. because they’d be prepared this time and their ankle would be
stronger.

mika gives them a disproving look. ruka glances away and wonders what sort of esp
he has.

“anywaaay,” they lean into their bed, “anyone got any card games?”

( two hours later hira and mika step out for a minute. ruka is gone when they return.
they pray for their other ankle. )

Prompt 11: How does your kalon relax?

Alania walked around the island, wondering what to do. The last few days had been very relaxing, and she felt bad. She was always doing something, and even if it was helping others, it made her happy. She did enjoy the days off, like drinking coconut juice yesterday or buying gifts, but she was becoming restless. She had wandered quite a bit of the jungle, as well as paced over the beaches many times. She had leaves and shells and souvenirs for the trip back home, and stories to tell about the ocean, about snorkling and surfing, whale watching, the casino, cooking. Alania wanted to experience something else that was new while she had this chance to, try fun things that she could only reflect upon after this cruise was over, but she wasn't sure how to go about finding this 'new' thing.
Her feet brought her back to the beach again, and she looked out at that deep, shifting blue, throwing her question out mentally. Something moved in the corner of her vision, and she turned to see people sunbathing and sleeping in deck chairs. Alania's spirits started to rise as she hopped over to one of the chairs and sat, looking up at the sky and listening to the ocean's waves and the birds' calls. ...This was nice. She could spend an entire day doing this, just relaxing and experiencing the sun with new sounds in the background. She had sunbathed before, but this was a new take on an old habit, and she quite enjoyed it.
