after a short nap in the sun to dry her coat off, milkstar headed out of camp once again to go patrol her borders, rescenting where she couldn't smell herself. she was still a bit groggy, but the breeze helped awaken her and she was nearly prancing in no time, not a care in the world about what was going on around her. the birds were singing, the flowers were still in bloom, and she was happy and free.

she was grateful, though, of the dense trees around her, as she was playing like a kitten and would be ashamed if anyone were to find her as such, rolling in the dirt and chasing the leaves that fell from above. she was in high spirits, though, and had more energy than she knew what to do with. her ears perked at a sound in the distance, and before she knew it she was chittering with excess energy as she crept towards the foreign scent, no intentions of getting closer than she needed to.

It had been an uneventful morning with both Softpaw and Kitetuft unable to find any prey to bring back to camp. Kitetuft was determined to not show up empty-pawed, he was the deputy after all and that may hurt his image. And of course, Softpaw had complained almost every pawstep of the way.

"It's too hot for any prey to be out," Softpaw whined, trailing behind Kitetuft.

"Maybe you're scaring everything away with your complaining!" Kitetuft snapped. It was getting hot, he had to admit, but that didn't mean they could just neglect their duties. "Come on, let's check the trees over there. We can rest in the shade for a bit."

quickly scarfing down a baby pigeon she had caught earlier, lilystar thanked starclan and buried the remains, as she always did. paying respects to starclan was important, and she hoped they would continue watching her and have no harm led to her. but they mustve turned away for a second, because the she-cat found herself face to face with a rouge, bristling with rage.

“hi,” she mewed, seeming confident. “i dont mean no harm. youre welcome to share the territory with me iff youd like, or even head back to camp with me. i dont mind.” cloverclans motto was, in fact. ‘exist in peace.’ there was no reason for lilystar to push this rouge out, they could just need help!

the lithe she-cat maneuvered around the various masses of foliage as she made her way out from her makeshift den, the smallest of the human structures that were long lost to the wilderness. her tail swished as she walked, bright eyes narrowed in annoyance. toad was in a particularly foul mood, though the cause of this was entirely unknown. she hoped to catch herself a snack, or better yet, find something useful. the dense canopy easily allowed her to avoid the scattered patches of sun, although the heat still clung uncomfortably to her pelt. as she leaped and landed on the other side of a moss-covered log, her ears perked. there was a rustling in the distance, not too far away. now moving slowly, silently, toad attempted to pick up a scent.

The spotted feline trekked onwards, not disparaged by loosing the squirrel. Luckily enough she managed to dig up some older prey so she wasn't completely without food. Deeper into the heart of the territory she went, climbing over boulders and thick, rotting tree trunks that had fallen down at some point. Lynxstar kept plodding along until she came into a large clearing. She let her eyes wander around the open area. She parted her mouth and let the various scents of her mountain home wash across the roof of it. She caught the smell of shrew and quickly scanned the landscape once more.

lilystar listened intently to the rouge, nodding in understanding and bidding him farewell and good travels. with a heavy heart, she carried her prey back to her divot. the sun was fully set now, and lightning bugs began to twinkle around her. they invited her deeper into the woods, almost begging her to stay out longer. she caved, because how long has it been since shes been on an adventure? too long.

the ground was soft beneath her paws, littered with fallen leaves and underbrush. she waved her tail as she walked, keeping her eyes on the fireflies. they blinked softly at her, which filled her with warmth.

toad was more than pleased with her previous finds, and after depositing them safely back at camp, decided there was still ample time to explore. while the sun was going down, she enjoyed the shelter the darkness provided her, as well some relief from the immense heat. this time, she was looking for nothing in particular, and was going patrolling for the simple reason of having something to do. her pace was leisurely, yet still spry, as she again made her way deeper into the forest. she'd trail the small stream, walk along the sand and rocks on its bank. the feline was attentive to her surroundings, but was beginning to let her thoughts wander.
