Twig laid back on his cozy bed aboard the ship, staring up at the simple white ceiling. His fingers and toes were wiggling every now and then, rapping against the bed frame, patting against the thin tropics-friendly comforter.

The bag of candies was sitting right beside his head.

Eyes drifted over mischievously, and he quickly scolded them, looking away again. Those were for his family. He wanted to try them all at the same time, with them. He couldn’t eat them now. Nope. Don’t touch. Don’t think about it. Just relax.

Normally his afternoon siesta wouldn’t be quite so taxing. But he was sure he could smell the fruits, the bittersweet chocolate, the aroma of pure bliss seeping out of the little bag of goodies. He’d already spent a pretty penny on the collection. It was a pretty nice one at that.

Well. He had bought quite a few.

Was it so bad, to try one? He could still save plenty for his family. That would be easy. Just one. Maybe two.

His eyes were locked on the bag again before he realized it. Oh no. He wasn’t going to be able to do this forever.

If he just had one, maybe then he’d be satisfied. He would have tried them, and could save the rest. It’s a win-win. Right?

He reached over, unfolding the top of the bag.

Just one.

Two hours later, still shaking, Twig finally dragged himself off the bed and out onto the deck. It took easily three times as long to make the journey. He was never, ever, going to eat that much sugar again.

Now he was going to have to hike all the way back out to mermaid cove and barter for a few more scales.

There weren’t any sweets left to bring home.

Bad idea, Twig.

Maybe he should wait for the last day to buy more. Then again, the thought of another sugary morsel nearly brought up the contents of his stomach.

No, you know what? He could get them now. He’s be okay. That smell wouldn’t ever get him again.

What is their favorite island treat and why?

I realize I'm quite glad that Shark is deep at work. I come here constantly, eager to do something for him, but here he is. Finally holding a screwdriver, brain whirring, and eyes concentrated. Like the mechanic is truly meant to be.

I just ate lunch but my stomach was yelling at me for a sweet treat so I poked at it and proceeded to take a stroll around the mini town here. I'm sure if this place was freshly built, it would look much nicer, but it was still pretty. Through the lopsided shacks, tangled fairy lights were hung across shops and restaurants. Did the lights work at night? I doubt it.

I look around. I find the "Catch N' Cook" but quickly remind myself that A: there's nothing sweet, and B: They've been putting in some strange ingredients lately. (Yes, I'd love some sand and 3:31 AM added into my salad please.)

Out of the corner of my eye I see it. A sign with fruit on it. Fruit is sweet. Fruit is a good sign. My legs can't take me fast, but I speed walked there. I find myself looking at a light pink cart, almost glittering. I hadn't seen anything like it around here. This must be pretty new.

A friendly voice appears out of nowhere. "Hi! Would you like a pina colada sorbet with extra coconut shavings, no added sugars, dairy free, and all in a coconut? It's our special."

"Uhhh.." If I were in a video game, I lagged big time. What did she just say? "Yeah.. sure!" I reply confidently as if I knew every single word that was said to me two seconds ago.

"Alright!" She grins then proceeds to scoop up some sorbet and smushes it into an empty coconut that has been cut in half. The worker additionally sprinkles on coconut shavings and even a lemon on top.

"Woah thanks!" I take the sorbet and a tiny spoon. I continue to walk around when I take a taste of the sorbet. Wow. It's real delicious. Coconut, lemon and... I don't even know! It's just ridiculously good! I have to stop and think about it's tastiness and if I'll ever be able to taste something this good again.

I think I pretty much gulped it down because when I went to look back at my coconut bowl, all the sorbet was gone. Maybe I should get another one. And one for Shark since he's been working hard.

I think this may be my favourite. I remember when I would go on summer vacations previous years, I always got ice cream every day. This may be one of those vacations.
