Blue enjoyed stalking the fox. Watching it move through the grass and shrubbery, searching for scents of prey was highly interesting. He considered interacting with it, but how could he approach it? Maybe he should just call out from a tree. He sat down, his fluffy tail hanging off the branch and moving left and right. 'Hey, there, redhair', he tried the conversation in his head 'w-was your mother a persian, cause, uh-cause that's some nice fur you have'. Yeah. That should do.
He spent too much time thinking and lost sight of the fox. He will have to try talking to it if he ever sees it again. However, his nose picked up another unfamiliar scent. He followed it, staying on the branches until his eyes rested on a badger. It was even more interesting than the fox! It was wide, even fat, with a thin head that reminded him of a mouse. It didn't look scary at all and Blue didn't want to lose another chance to strike a conversation, He jumped off the tree, some distance from the badger. Too late he realised that he didn't think of what to say. His mouth slightly ajar, he mumbled: "uhhh" and stared at the animal with wide eyes.

the sun set low on lilystars back, and as it crept lower the temperature followed. the leaves around her perked up now that they werent in the scorching sun. she kept her eyes focused as she patrolled, checking scent borders at certain marks. if they were faint she renewed them, and kept a mental note. she didnt mind trespassers and wasnt stingy with her territory. it was mostly to notify any cats that someone does live there.

the cicadas sung all around her, hiding in the leaves and trees above her. she slowed down when she went to her west border, checking for any jungleclan cats. she enjoyed their company, and it was nice to know if they did need help someone was there for them. she treasured their alliance, and was a little disappointed that no one was patrolling at that time. she nodded her respects towards them and kept on.

when she found a nice spot on a flat rock, lilystar sat and ate the prey she had caught earlier. she buried the remains and thanked starclan, before continuing on patrolling.

[Herding Cats]

The sun had not yet broke past the horizon as the cats neared their hunting grounds, a brief break in the landscape of dense maple forest Brightclan called home. From there one could hear the river whispering its presence to the east. The cats were forced to hunt here before dawn, as the sun’s heat scorched the unshaded area during daylight hours.

The pre-dawn air was helpfully still, though sticky and thick with humidity. The heatwave didn't exactly provide the conditions Mothstar had hoped for in establishing Brightclan, but she had to be thankful for the wind conditions. Well, thankful for its assistance in hunting; it did nothing to ease the strain of the elevated internal body temperature which came with summer’s heat. Rainwhisker caught stride beside her leader as the tiny two-cat patrol came to a halt. Mothstar couldn’t help but beam. That, at the very least, was a blessing without caveat. Rainwhisker was a fine first addition to Brightclan’s ranks. Her youth came with a spry energy that Mothstar herself couldn’t possibly hope to match. An energy, which Mothstar prayed could be positively guided to further her message of peace in this land of tumult and greed. Mothstar shook off the train of though. All of that was far off, right now, all she wanted to think about was breakfast.

Rainwhisker found it difficult to contain her excitement. She knew these lands well, had become intimately familiar with their danger, inability to forgive, but today would be different. Today she had an ally. Sure, many rogue and feral cats had offered alliance previously, but never had they come across with such a genuine benevolence as Mothstar. Rainwhisker felt she could listen for hours to Mothstar’s mantra of peace and community. Though Brightclan was but a far off dream for now, Mothstar could make it seem so real, and Rainwhisker was prepared to fight through hardship to help her new friend achieve it.

Cloud lay his ears back on his head. That certainly wasn't a proper introduction. He scared the poor badger away. It was time to give the adventure a break and take a nap. Manoeuvring between the dense shrubs, he made his way out of the forest and back into the field. He found a large rock not occupied by seagulls and lied down on it. It was pleasantly warmed up by the summer sun. Before taking a nap, he had a snack consisting of the poor cricket. There was no reason to let his death go to waste. He sniffed a little as he chewed the crunchy insect body.
