Your kalon has to go diving for Shark's missing tool.
How do they find it, and what's the experience like?

Annie's initial thought was 'yes! fun! snorkelling for the first time!' until she realized she had no idea how deep the tool would be, or where it dropped off the boat, or how she was going to find it. Her surfing skills were already a bit shaky - how was snorkelling going to pan out for her?

After getting a rough estimate from Shark of where the tool could have fallen off, she found Aukai and asked for some gear. He offered to come out with her, saying he'd like to help, although Annie thought it was so he could keep an eye on her. Which was fair enough, she supposed; he had witnessed her falling off her board multiple times. She knew basic swimming, but nothing advanced.

Clad in snorkelling gear, they made their way out to where Shark had indicated. It felt weird, not having solid ground beneath her feet. The mask wasn't helping either. The feeling of the rubber piece in her mouth was a rather unpleasant one. But she'd promised Shark she'd help, so help she would.

Aukai demonstrated how to take in breath, shove your head in the water, and then blow it out of the tube once you resurfaced. She tried a few times, spluttering a little bit, but she persevered until she'd somewhat got the hang of it. She was quite happy to swim along the surface, face submerged but tube still in the air. Mouth breathing was an odd thing to get used to. Idly, it reminded her of having a cold.

While she paddled along the top, Aukai dove under and scoured the ocean floor. Thankfully it wasn't as deep as Annie first expected, but goodness, was it so clear! She didn't know the sea could look so pristine. Sunlight through the water was casting dappled shadows on the golden sand. Rocks were dotted with bright, colorful coral pieces, and fish were darting around them. It was like a painting, or at least like the photoshopped pieces you saw online. Except this was real, in front of her; she hoped it stayed like this forever. Untouched, beautiful.

As she gazed at the aquatic world around her, she suddenly spotted a piece of metal sticking out of the sand. She made an excited noise but Aukai, searching a different area, didn't hear her. She hesitated, wondering whether to try and grab his attention, or to do it herself.

Taking in a deep breath, she tilted herself down and plunged.

It was hard work, keeping the flippers moving at a steady pace, moving downwards while trying not to think about the surface - about the air - above you. She reached it with an effort, and thankfully it pulled away from the sand easily. Heavy, metal - this looked like a working tool. Glancing to her left, she Aukai watching her. Her gave her a thumbs up, and together they swam up to the surface.

She blew forcefully into the tube, and water spurted out - onto her head. Aukai laughed as she removed the mouth piece, shaking her head as she did so.

"You did it!" he exclaimed cheerfully.

Holding up the tool in her hand, she felt a burst of pride. "I did it!" she said cheerfully. Shark would be pleased. Not too bad for her first time snorkelling!

In order to recover the tool, Uktena had to battle a dragon of some sort to gain access to its hoard, making it an exciting and memorable quest.

How do they find it, and what's the experience like?

Iris couldn't lie and say the ocean didn't scare her.

It was deep, mysterious and endless... Who wouldn't be frightened by such a thing?

But, she did volunteer to help with finding a missing tool, so diving she would go no matter how dreadful.

She could feel her heartbeat as she started sinking into the water, kicking her feet behind her to descend into the reef. It was surprisingly comforting, thankfully - colorful schools of non-threatening fish around her, coral swaying in the faint current, crustaceans scuttling along the white sand. Beautiful, even.

It didn't take too much time to find that shimmering piece of metal wedged between the folds of some brain coral, thankfully. Iris had a sharp eye, after all, and even managed to get the thing out without damaging the organism.

She gave a slight sigh of relief within her mask, wondering how lucky she was to have achieved her search without any difficulties. Viewing the scene once more, she turned to head back to the surface.

Or, at least, that's how she wanted it.

Instead, she was met with a pair of bright, yellow, glowing eyes and a set of sharp teeth smiling right at her.

"Oh dear, are you alright Iris? You seem a bit... Shaken," a kalon asked, helping her out of the water.
Iris stared straight ahead, feeling adrenaline still pumping through her veins. "I don't want to talk about it."

I’m sorry, he has to what? As soon as Caro told Roe he’d have to dive into the unknown, deep, dark ocean, he was about one hundred percent through with trying to help him fix this ship. The only probably with that, however, is that if the ship wasn’t fixed, they couldn’t go home. The things you must do out of desperation sometimes..

After Aukai supplies him with the necessary diving gear and helps him get in it safely and properly, Roe stares out into the vast blue. Aukai is going down with him, the more eyes the better chance they’ll find it, but it still did not make this experience much less terrifying. Death defying or even dangerous, thrill seeking type adventures were not Roe’s cup of tea. Why would anyone want to voluntarily sink into a place where you couldn’t breathe on your own? Nuh uh, no.

These were all exactly the types of things he was thinking as he descended to the coast’s sandy bottom. Many times, he had to continuously remind himself he was supposed to be looking for something and not just internally keep himself from freaking out. If Jay knew where he was right now, and what he was doing, he’d have a heart attack. Roe just knew it.

Aukai tried his very best to lighten the experience, pointing out particularly colorful fish or exciting things. In Roe’s mind, however, he could have taken a trip to an aquarium or gotten a fish tank and had nearly been able to have the exact same experience. Except he’d be able to breathe, and his life wasn’t in danger of being ended. He had barely noticed Aukai waving him down because they had found the tool, but Roe swam out of there faster than he even knew he could move. Never again.

How do they find it?
Andromeda

After hearing about sharks missing tool Andromeda went to see Aukai to get some snorkeling gear. She had readily agreed to dive for the tool upon hearing of its disappearance and was practically bouncing on her way to Aukai. Andromeda hadn't gotten the chance to snorkel out where the tool was dropped and she wasn't about to miss the opportunity to see more of the ocean, as well as help fix the engine of course. After she explained the situation to Aukai he was glad to help and took her to the spot the tool was dropped giving her a snorkeling mask and some flippers.
"You sure that's all you'll need out there I could get you an oxygen tank just in case?."
"No need, i'll be fine." she reassured him. "I'm basically part mermaid!"
Aukai chuckled "Whatever you say. Just be careful and Good Luck."
She nodded at Auklai and taking a deep breath submerged herself in the water.

The ocean felt cool on Andromeda's fur but not freezing. Being surrounded by water seemed oddly comforting almost homey. This had always been the case for her ever since she was little, the ocean just made her feel like she belonged. Andromeda was lost in thought when a huge eel flickered across her face she flinched back not realizing she wasnt paying attention. the eel sparkled in the light from the surface and she couldnt help admiring it for a little too long, almost forgetting her objective.
'Right the tool!'
turning her attention away from the beautiful eel she began scanning the ocean floor. A few sea creatures were out and about. some stingrays were slowly gliding across the floor and Andromeda made a mental note to avoid their tails. She ran into a couple of crabs stuck in a wrestling match and couldnt help but chuckle, neither looked like they were going to win.

She spotted the tool under a sea urchin and swam towards it being carful of the needles she used a rock to gently move the urchin away and grab the tool.
After aquiring her objective she quickly swam to the surface taking one last look at the glorious landscape around her.
She would have to come back another time and explore the ocean's beauty further. [/center]

sharkbait headed over to see if aukai would be willing lend some gear to help her out in the search. as soon as aukai agreed to help out, she grabbed what gear was needed which was just the usual scuba gear. between starting to get into the gear and planning out the search, the plan was the easier part. just a sweep of the ocean floor around shark’s boat would be the search area. getting the gear on was the harder part, all the holes in it and trying to remember where each limb went wasn’t the highlight of the search.

diving into the ocean, sharkbait just hoped that it would be quite quick as she didn’t have the desire to encounter something dangerous like a shark. the underside of shark’s boat was in view. it was quite lovely down there with all of the sea life around her, but it couldn’t distract her until she finished what she started. descending further down into the ocean, pressure was building on her as she reached the sandy floor. scanning the ocean floor yielded nothing, so she stuck her hands into the sand to attempt at searching for the missing tool. some time passed while doing this, but as soon as she stuck her hands into one particular area caused a massive school of tiny fish to come up from there. startling her, she swam back to the shore. when coming up from the deeper parts, she saw something shimmering on the shore. after investigating of the object, she knew that it was the missing tool. she soon groaned in frustration. only if she walked down the shore instead of diving into the ocean, she would have just found it and not wasted time. it was now time to return the stuff that she borrowed and the missing tool.
