What's the first thing they want to do on the island?

Mariazell looked down at the map with slight intimidation. He turned the map around at all angles in an attempt to figure out how to properly read it. He thought about asking the one that gave it to him for some help, but the sheer intimidation that he gathered from the kal was enough for him to decide that he’d rather suffer with confusion than sound dumb to the one before him. Without paying much attention to his surroundings he ventured off on to the sands of the beach, studying the map to figure out where to go.

He continued to walk along the beach, casually tripping over his own feet from time to time. It wasn’t until he completely fell over that he found out what he wanted to do. What he had to do. As he tried to pull himself up from the sands, he noticed that his fur had been cut and he had started to bleed. Mariazell didn’t wait to see what had cut him, but he immediately got up with tears in his eyes and he went on a rapid search for the nearest first aid spot on the island. He knew he was being a big baby about it all, but it didn’t matter. If the first thing he had to do on the island was sit in the medical center, he wouldn’t completely complain.

Sal layed in the sand of the beach, smiling up at the stars with the map laying on his chest. It’d been a pretty good day, and since it was already getting late when he was given the map, he’d decided to wait until nightfall... being an aspiring engineer, he was used to very little sleep anyway. He’d watched the sun set over the ocean, and admired the way the moon appeared as well. The ocean almost looked like a second sky, and he loved it. But now, the fun would begin. He jumped to his feet and began his silent prowl around the island, making sure to steer away from any settlements. Though he’d considered it, this time he decided he wanted to go alone. His eyes glowed as he stepped into the underbrush, giddy with excitement and intent. He was on the hunt, and there wouldn’t be a single type of nocturnal creature that was left unseen- no matter what strange animals lived on this island, he’d discover them all! Starting with the smallest of creatures, of course- the insects. He almost giggled just thinking of the crazy life forms he might see on the island, and would have if he wasn’t so set on being quiet so he didn’t scare off any potential “friends.” Big, small, many legs, no legs, fluffy, slimy, scaley, or feathered, he’d discover them all, and nothing would stop him!

the first thing cara wanted to do? take pictures of course. photography was her job, and her hobby, so why not have some fun taking pictures. on her first day on the island she opened her eyes and drowsily checked the time. seven am. with a grunt she sat up, dangling her legs off the bed. she looked over at her camera and a smile crept onto her face. she leapt out of bed, grabbing her camera and running to get dressed. twenty minutes later she was out and exploring the small island. there was so many different places to take pictures, from the cliff where you could whale watch, to the tide pools by the beach. she got pictures of many different beach and ocean creatures, along with some of the kalons who lived on the island. she tried many different things while taking pictures, visiting the casino, the beach and anywhere else she made her way to. she had been having so much fun she hadnt noticed her camera had run out of space. she quickly went back to her room to grab her backup camera, but didnt notice how late it was. with a sigh, she decided to stay in for the night, and get back to pictures tomorrow.

lucien took a deep breath and looked around on the beach. he had a newly-purchased journal (specifically for this trip) and his camera with him, planning to get a few pictures and write down a little bit about what he had seen. he usually did this whenever he went to a new place and he wanted to maybe show it off to reagan. he hadn't been all that excited about this trip in the beginning, but after they had come to kalokairi, he started to enjoy it a little more. yes, he had been quite nervous when they had first got on the island, but he had relaxed since then. most of the residents on the island seemed friendly enough and the beach was quite gorgeous.

lucy snapped a picture of the sparkling water from where he was standing on the beach. he wandered along the beach, looking around and occasionally taking a picture when he spotted something interesting. photography was relaxing to lucien and he enjoyed writing a little bit about his mini adventures. sometimes he would write back at home, but he didn't always have something new to write about. so seeing new places and exploring was always refreshing, even if he was nervous about it in the beginning.

eventually, lucien sat down on the beach beside the water and began to write about the view and all of the things he had taken pictures. he planned to print out the pictures later and put them into his journal where he had written about them. he soon got distracted by just watching the water and unfortunately for him, some water splashed onto him and the pages he had written on, ruining the pages. the ink smeared and smudged and his writing was then illegible. he sighed in frustration, realizing that he now had to buy a new journal and rewrite everything that he wanted to. maybe it would have been a better idea to not sit so close to the water.

Veloria nodded in thanks to Shark, and scrawled the map out in front of her, grimacing a little at the large chunk torn out of the top right corner. "Hey, uh. I think your map is a bit incomplete." She said curiously, but when she looked up, Shark was no longer in sight.

Her initial reaction was to make a beeline for the part of the map that was torn off, but what if there was nothing there anyway? It could be a total bust, and all she'd have to show for it was sweat. Besides, based on how the trip was going, it was probably best not to take any chances. Instead, she let her eyes scan the map again, finally landing on two words "gem hunt."

Being a witch of sorts, of course she'd be drawn to the gem hunt. She loved all of the tropical water around her but the chance to find her own gems and not just buy them in some metaphysical shop? priceless! Butterflies in her stomach, she rolled up the map and tied a hair tie around it to keep it shut, and bounded back to the ship to change into something better for digging around in the dirt.
