“I’m the bad guy. Duh."

Harlynn’s grin grew wider as she took a step back from the wall.
With her paw at her hips she gives a satisfied nod at the artwork which had taken her weeks to complete.
Ever since Harlynn was young she had fallen in love with art. The corners of her notebooks were etched with random doodles. Once, her mother had taken to a night market where she had gotten lost, she had quickly moved away from the suffocating crowds, towards the well-lit carparks. As she made her way through, she came across a street covered in artworks, where her love of art grew.

Years later, she now stood in front of newest masterpiece. Harlynn had drawn a picture, which in her mind. Captured an image young woman, who is unable to the person she wants to be: each thread connected to her brain in representation of the label’s society has placed on her. A smile is planted on her face, as she holds a pair of wickedly sharp scissors. Why? Simple. She lives by her own rules, severing off the threads and replacing them with her own. Graffiti cans laid scatter by Harlynn’s feet; her fur coated in neon splatters as she shakes her can one last time.

hey, matton never claimed to be creative - just consistent.
a neon baker, huh? where would you ever think it?
truth be told, matton didn't imagine it for himself
either, four years ago, when he was young and roaming
the streets looking for trouble. robbery. car chases. graffiti.
knife fighting every saturday behind the dumpster drop-off,
when the world was quiet outside of this little bubble of
violence.
where'd it change? he's not sure of that, either. when he was
stabbed, maybe. or when his friend was stabbed. killed.
or when he'd been put into self-improvement program.
when he'd spent every tuesday and friday baking with
the rest of his juvenile criminal group.
whatever it was, he knew it had to change. so he did.
changed his name, his identity, moved out of the city.
moved half the world away. wouldn't be too great for
business if his old boss found him, would it?
but he's changed, so he says. bakes cupcakes now,
he says. they glow in the dark. isn't that cool?
hasn't perfected glowing bread yet, he laughs.
he will someday. he hopes. he's got all the time in
the world, after all. he hopes.
