DAY THIRTEEN

Writing: Most days Bane found boring. Especially with the annoying little mare "Lux" at their side. The smokey cream would follow them around like a puppy, despite the fact that Bane made it thoroughly clear that they weren't a huge fan of that. The pale horse didn't understand. Maybe it was their vague similarities in color that made Lux so attached to Bane. Maybe it was Lux's angelic nature wanting to balance out Bane's... less than ideal disposition. Of course, Lux only managed to get more "pushy" by Bane's standards when the mushroom foaled, producing a slight, pale colt by the name of Psyche. Lux would spend day in and day out trying to love on the foal, something that drove Bane absolutely NUTS. The mare was always more of a loner compared to Lux and many of the others who lived at the estate. They avoided contact, even when the yearly free-roaming would occur. Bane's aversion to contact only got worse when Psyche was born, as all they wanted was to keep the stupid, frail, lanky little creature safe. As such, Lux's interference only proved to make Bane even more short-tempered than usual.
Of course, once everyone was released for free roaming, Bane did their best to escape from Lux. To no avail. All Bane could do was keep moving and trying to avoid Lux. This, unfortunately, wasn't something that worked too well with Psyche. The colt needed to rest more often than Bane and would often just lay down and call for her when they'd decided they'd had enough. Bane couldn't just leave them. Especially not to Lux, who would always stop and lay with the foal. Being honest, Bane was more against Lux being so close to their colt than predators. Predators were something Bane could kick in the face. Bane... didn't actually want to kick Lux in the face. Or maybe they did. They just weren't allowed.
After a few days, Bane came to the conclusion that it would probably be best to tolerate Lux's presence. It actually worked out fairly well, for a while, until Lux came back trailing a "new friend" as she referred to him. A gelding, covered in mud. He looked to be some sort of pintaloosa, though Bane wasn't quite sure. Whatever he was, the mushroom was not pleased by his sudden appearance, especially given that Lux had disappeared only to come back. And she had the nerve to come back with a companion. Bane couldn't help but squeal a little and kick at the newcomer as soon as he got too close to Psyche. The mare violently parked their body between the large gelding and the foal, with the main goal of driving him off. Lux protested, of course, but didn't really do anything to stop them. Bane's viciousness certainly startled the gelding, and he was honestly too shocked to fight back. All he could do was flee to report back to wherever he'd come from. After he'd finally gone, Bane chewed Lux out for bringing a stranger near the colt in the hopes it wouldn't happen again. [517]
