"polar bears of course. the polar bear has long been found in antarctica. with their thick white coats and large height, these bears are majestic. the polar bears habitat has been melting due to the anomaly called climate change. soon, the entire habitat of this species will be gone, melted away. the polar bear of course cannot live anywhere else, as it is adapted to life in colder, harsher climates.

the remains of the seals they eat provide food for many other arctic wildlife species, giving polar bears a vital role in their ecosystem. polar bears are marine mammals, and spend much of their time on arctic sea ice. polar bears are apex predators and at the top of the food chain. they can signal when there are problems in their ecosytem. polar bears are though of to be the animal that would be most affected by global warming and climate change.

polar bears have long since been on of my favorite marine mammals. although they might look soft, these bears are far from it. at a height of about 6 feet, polar bears are the largest bear species. they hunt for their food in the frigid waters, catching food like fish and seals. it would be a loss to lose the polar bear to extinction, for all of its glory and beauty would be lost as well." Callie says quickly, her brain spewing out every random fact she can think of.

"Uh, yes." Is all Enke can manage after the report on polar bears.

Avalon answered without hesitation.
"Sharks!"
He turned to Enke smiling. "I'd love to save the sharks! They're so beautiful, and are so vital to the environment! They're so important in maintaining population sizes of marine prey animals, as they are the apex predator of the sea. It keeps the ecosystems within the ocean in balance. If they were to disappear, food chains would be broken and the state of the ocean as it is would worsen.
They are massively vulnerable to "by-catch", where sea creatures and birds get caught accidentally by the fishing nets set out by fisheries. There's almost 7 billion tons worth of by-catch discarded annually, and it accounts for almost 67% of the shark species that have been declared threatened, or have a worse conservation status.
When it's not by accident, sharks get finned and thrown back into the ocean. There's millions, tens of millions of sharks that die every year just for their fins. They cost so much to purchase, but they cost a shark it's life.
Not to mention the 'attack precautions' beaches around the world take. The shark nets and baited hooks are lethal, not just to sharks, but turtles, dolphins, rays and whales aswell." His gaze clouded over as he recited this information. His heart felt heavy and he turned to the ocean. He watched the water turn in waves and held back the tears in his eyes as he pressed on.

"They're subjected to so much hatred because of the trouble they cause in the water, when they're just doing what their instincts tell them. We can't be mad at them for protecting their own home. So many people out there don't see the eradication of sharks as an issue, which is a massive deal. I'd love to change that. I'd love to make the ocean a place for sharks to belong."

(The first time he allowed her to eat with him) “If I wasn’t taking care of her right now, I would be out in the Northern Pacific saving the sea lions.” Enke’s ears perked, though he tried not to show his interest. “They’re a protected endangered species, but people still find a way to sneak around the rules...” Penelope trailed off, deep in thought. “Maybe someday we will live in a world where people and wild life live in harmony, instead of at war.” Enke mumbled.

"Well?" Sorrel said, raising a brow and tapping her foot in imitation of impatience, "What sea creature would you be trying to help?"

Mia let out a sharp huff, "You sound like Enke now."

Sorrel giggled, giving her friend a wink and an elbow nudge to the side when the real Enke walked passed them to his coral hut, "Speak of the devil."

The other girl rolled her eyes, but the grin on her face gave away her amusement.

"So, what's your answer?"

"Oh my god are we back on this? Really?" Mia huffed, "Bluefin tuna."

Sorrel gave her a funny look at that answer, and she rolled her eyes in response. "Why tuna of all things?"

"Bluefin tuna, specifically. And because all three species of bluefin tuna are endangered, or vulnerable, because of overfishing. The Atlantic bluefin tuna is even critically endangered."

Sorrel stared back at Mia with big eyes, surprised that her friend knew so much about bluefin tuna, of all things.

"I like the big dudes, okay?" she mumbled, glaring at Sorrel, before continuing, "And what about you?"

"Oh definitely manta rays! They're big, gentle giants of the ocean - and they're insanely neat!"

Yet another question has popped up in need of an answer. Surya was slightly surprised by it, "Something else to save, if I had a chance hmm" From a very young age, Surya had been to multiple different adventures. She has seen many varying people, plants, animals and many more. She went for her table and searched for her journal, a journal filled with memories of her past adventures where she met many things such as unique animals. Thinking of saving something else other than the corals, it was hard to pick a few since if she would enumerate everything she wanted to save, it'll probably take a long time. Thinking about it while looking through her journal, a sudden very unique memory popped up from her mind, it was a time where she was cleaning a Pangolin's enclosure. It was tough work but she had so much fun since she was able to see them roaming and eating at night, it was a new experience for Surya. She was also able to learn many things about the animal and how it's population is quickly decreasing. She gave it a lot of thought and chose the Pangolin as another to save.

Sea turtles are constantly at risk from being stuck in plastic nets, or eating plastic!" The red heifer smiled and imagined her leaning over a boat scooping up a small turtle in need. "Turtles are always in need in the ocean with the way we throw out our garbage and plastics!" Arati placed a hoof on the tank holding her small coral inside. "Taking care of corals have been fun, but i want to go out and help in the real world with amazing animals who could go endangered by our sheer lack of neglect.
She noticed the bull nod his head and she carried on to finish her statement to the class. "The ocean is sensitive and i have learned that here, the ocean needs us to take great care of it or else we will loose so much we haven't even discovered yet." She blushed, nodding to the claps around her she sat down at her desk and turned her attention to the next cow and what their answer would be.

There are so many species out there that are worth saving, and it is very hard to choose just one. But for this prompt, the first animal I thought of was the Galapagos Penguin. These guys are the only penguins that live north of the equator and in the Galapagos islands. There are fewer than 2000 of them left, due to pollution, climate change, and bycatch. Ever since us humans introduced animals like dogs to the islands, mortality rates have drastically increased due to catching diseases that these introduced species carry. Not only that, but certain events on the island have decreased the number of prey species that the penguins eat, as well as reproductive success.

I suppose maybe some sort of direly endangered creature? I find I don't know all that much about aquatic critters and stuff. You wouldn't find me to be an expert on a great many subjects I'm afraid. Though I suppose if I had to absolutely pick one marine creature it would be the North-Atlantic right whale. Such majestic creatures serve to live as much as anything on land does, I mean I'm just a buttermilk but I'd do my best to try! Sabrina stomps the floor with hoof a sharp noise escaping her as she fixes her gaze on the gaze on the ocean.

What else would you like to save?: Milkshake gives a little shrug. He isn't all that knowledgeable in this stuff, especially when it comes to aquatic animals.
"I mean, I don't know." he quietly replies, looking down at his own feet. Of course, he actually does try to consider what kinds of animals there are and what there is to save. He finally comes up with some kind of an idea after a couple of long minutes and looks back up, smiling nervously.
"I would probably help save those critters affected by pollution and trash. Plastic bags, oil, general water let off by big factories. Those types of creatures."
That's all he really says before droning off; talking about how there are probably tons of those critters that need help.
