Take your coral to your favorite spot in the resort!:
The request seemed to stun Jay; he gave the keeper a long, hard look, before he closed his eyes and shook his head, resolving to humor the other's sense of humor. He could worry about the sanity of such things later... And possibly get himself checked for suspending his belief so precariously for such a task. He carefully took Bishop into a slightly smaller, more portable tank, taking care to not damage the little coral, and set out.
While the sand is nice, there are tidepools up ahead. It's a little rocky, but... I think that just makes it that much better, because the rocks are dark and less blinding to look at than the pale sand. The area is sheltered from the sun from early afternoon on by the overlooking cliff, so it keeps the water from heating up and boiling everything that got stuck in the pools after the tide went out. No plants can really settle here - the tide coming in and out would wash away any seeds before they could take root - but it has that kind of scent, anyway, probably from the mess of greenery at the top of the cliff, I guess. It also smells pretty salty and of fish. That's probably to be expected. I've spotted a couple little fishes swimming around in the deeper pools, either trying to figure out how to escape or trying to find food so they can wait out the day and low tide. I can't imagine that they're too happy when they wind up stuck in the smaller pools, or with one of the predators that seem to be in every other pool. There's a few jellyfish here and there, which is... Not ideal, but they're avoidable. The surprise urchins are a little more of a threat, they're not always the easiest to spot. And, of course, I'm not eager to accidentally step on a sea star.

There are also plenty of birds around, hunting in the pools. They're probably the most entertaining, a bunch of them stand by the edge and stalk out their prey, a bit like a her on, but with a shorter beak and neck. And with a lot more noise. Some types of gulls might have some beautiful markings, but they're as obnoxious as anything I've ever met in my entire life. Still, it's not bad enough to ruin the spot, not in the slightest.

Take your coral to your favorite spot in the resort!: Sabrina being thrilled by how much Cadenza had grown had given the coral a new portable tank and was pulling it along in a small cart behind herself. Cow and coral were headed back to Sabrina's favourite spot on the resort.

"Not long now Cadenza we're almost to the top of the hill!" Sabrina chimed merrily to the coral sitting in her travel tank. It took a few minutes longer for them to finally reach the top of the hill. The blonde cow made sure to put blocks into place so that the cart would have no chance in rolling back down and potentially causing harm. Then carefully wriggled out of the harness she'd used to pull the cart along.

"I absolutely had to bring you back here with me Cadenza, you seemed to enjoy the music last time and I know I loved it" Sabrina hummed lightly. The cow settled down under the shade of the tree, humming softly to herself as she did so. The sun shone brightly down and Sabrina assumed the music had wonderful vibrations traveling through the water for Cadenza.

There were a few particular groups rehearsing throughout the day that Sabrina payed particular attention to. Excitedly singing along and eagerly giving out her own soft version of cow applause.

Take your coral to your favorite spot in the resort!:
Show her coral around? Jolene could do that. She first headed over to the diving point, where The Stingray was docked. The water was crystal clear, and she could see all the fish swimming around just below the surface. β€œHere we are Enid! The Shell Dive. I’ve been spending a lot of time here.” And she had- it was one of her favorite places. It wasn’t high stakes like the labyrinth or the dolphin races, or even involving a little bit of gambling like the pearl panic. You could dive once, or you could go on forever, if you had the sand dollars for it. Jolene enjoyed that fact- she’d stayed there all day the day before this one. Doubled shell rewards- Jolene had to admit she might have gone a little wild for it.

β€œThere’s so many neat shells here to discover Enid. They’re all so lovely to look at. I don’t know if I could pick a favorite. I wonder what sort of shell you would like best?” Maybe she would take one of her shell prizes back to Enid’s tank. It could serve well as a decoration, she thought. Looking at her tank, she realized what would be the best- Jolene needed to get her coral some shiny rocks. Only the best for her coral, of course. β€œIt’s my favorite spot. I’ll bring you back something next dive- I’m sure you’ll love it too!”

Take your coral to your favorite spot in the resort!:
      Mia, Sorrel

"Are we ready?" Sorrel asked, slinging a giant beach bag over her shoulder.

Mia let out a huff, "It's not like we're going on a ten-year trip across the world."

The other girl just smiled in response, leaving the suite without another word. Mia let out another huff and called after her friend, "That bag doesn't even go with your swimsuit, you know!" The words were empty, though - the giant beach bag, though insanely big, was perfectly coordinated with Sorrel's swimsuit - and both girls knew it.

Mia grabbed her own, much smaller, beach bag from the table and left the suite. Just as she was closing the door, however, she had a brilliant idea, and she shot back into the room.

"Maui!" she called, as though her coral friend would come running to her like a dog. The girl ran to her room in the suite and picked up Maui's tank, a grin spread across her face, "Maui, I think it's time I show you where my favorite spot on this resort is."

It was more difficult than Mia had anticipated to carry the large tank all the way from her resort suite to the beach, but she was incredibly determined. Maui would see her favorite part of the resort - even if it meant she had to lug the giant tank a pretty decent distance. And once she made it onto the beach her journey wasn't even over.

Mia let out a huff, but continued walking down the sandy beach until she came to a nearly empty section. She broke out into a smile as she saw Sorrel, who had already set up beach towels for the two of them. 'This,' she thought, 'Really is the life.'

But, still, she hadn't reached her destination yet.

So the girl carried the tank a little further passed the beach towels until she spotted the place: a gorgeous, permanent tidepool surrounded by rocks and heaps of sand. Mia smiled as she made her way to the tidepool. Once there, she set Maui's tank down at the edge of the tidepool - close enough that he could see into it, but far enough that he wouldn't be in any danger - and then she sat next to him, feet in the tide pool.

Mia closed her eyes and drank in the cool water around her feet, the salty air. It was the only place she had ever felt truly at peace, the only place that had ever made her stop thinking. It was a calming, serene experience - both things that Mia had never really had before this vacation.

Yes, this really was her favorite spot in the entire resort.

      Maybe even the entire world.

Take your coral to your favorite spot in the resort!:

bluebell finds herself sitting on the pier, unsure of what she should do today. β€œit feels like it’s only been a minute since we’ve been here, but it’s almost over! we should revisit some places... right azurina?”
azurina had become something extremely special to bluebell, like a companion always by her side. she had just gotten her, but it felt like she’s been a friend since the beginning.
β€œi think we should revisit the tide pools, you’d really enjoy them! i feel like they give off your edgy vibe... let’s go!”
bluebell takes azurina on her back slowly making her way.
β€œit’s pretty bumpy around here... hold on!”
they finally make it to the tide pools, and find a cozy spot where bluebell could dip her hooves.
β€œi had a crazy experience here, azurina. i wish you were there with me. i really do wish you were a heifer like me... we’d be the best of friends, probably forever!”
bluebell watches the tides, slowly pull back in. β€œi think the tides gonna come back in soon, but until then i’m glad we could spend some time together. you’re turning into something so beautiful, and you’re gonna make big chances some day, azurina.”
she notices some shrivelled coral, similar to azurina, washed up by them. she lets out a sigh.
β€œit’s horrible this has happened to your kind.. but we’re gonna change it soon. you and me azurina.”
bluebell knows something feels off, as she thinks to herself.
β€œwe should probably go visit enke, huh? we’ll go show him how great you’re doing!”

Take your coral to your favorite spot in the resort!: Milkshake pulled the rickety wagon out behind him, walking forward slowly along the beach. He was gentle and careful, constantly looking behind him at the tank just to make sure water wasn't flowing out of the sides. The filter and everything had been unplugged or removed, making transport of the tank easier. He was queasy and nervous about this but Enke had suggested that he do something like this instead of messing around at the shop and, well, who was he to ignore an order?
The sand was mushy under his sandals and he was actually really anxious. Milk didn't like venturing out far, much less to some strange place in this resort. Nonetheless, he headed toward the tide pools. They usually were pretty quiet because people chose the scenic sunset over ocean waves to the tide pools. But the pools had a lot of life in them. Literally.
Milkshake, nonetheless, dragged Shakecup across the rocky edge of the tide pools. His eyes focused on between the wheels of the wagon and the tank in the wagon; making sure none of the precious water inside the container were spilled. It was surely a long and tedious process, but when he was able to bend over and look at the starfish and crabs scuttling around in the water, it truly paid off.
He looked over at his little friend, Shakecup, and sighed.
"One day you'll be able to provide a home for creatures like these. I just know it."

Take your coral to your favorite spot in the resort!:

It's quiet in the early morning, not a soul awake. Nalu rises with the sun. She'd tried to break the habit over the years but nothing quite worked.

Her bare hooves leave prints in the sand as she cradles Lucky to her chest. The coral has grown so much in the short time Nalu's cared for them. She couldn't be more proud, even with her arms straining at the tank's weight.

The sun yawns and salty waves are lit with white fire. The wooden pier is her destination, drawing her in like a magnet. Nalu plops herself at the very end, setting her coral comfortably at her side. She dips a single hoof in the waves and a curious fish draws near. It nibbles at her hoof, finds the appendage dissatisfying, and disappears into the sea.

This place is so peaceful in the early morning. It sooths her soul. The waves wash against the shore, in, out, in, out. Nalu's heartbeat matches the ocean, calm and peaceful in the light of dawn. One day, soon, Lucky would be one with the sea. The little coral would bloom brightly in a reef, rife with life and as free as the waves. If only Nalu could be as just as lucky.

For now, she hums an off-beat tune, and enjoys the quiet morning, with her little coral friend beside her.

Take your coral to your favorite spot in the resort!:

Pippin β€’ Eirwen β€’ Catherine

Eirwen lugged the heavy tank in her arms, huffing and puffing as she following behind Pippin who ran ahead with excitement. Having lost a bet, the girl had offered to give her younger friend a special trip to wherever she wanted to go within the resort, and unsurprisingly, Pippin chose the gift shop. However, Eirwen wasn't expecting to bring a heavy, ten gallon tank full of water with them on this trip.
"Please, let's bring Cni with us! Let's get it something special and make happy memories for it to remember us by before it goes home!" Pippin had pleaded, giving her friend the biggest puppy eyes imaginable. Eirwen, knowing full well that this was a terrible idea, couldn't help but give in. She'd soon come to regret saying that it was alright.

Pippin pushed open the door to the shop, holding it open for Eirwen as she approached, who had to turn sideways and slowly scoot in to enter. All the while, the tank water was sloshing around within the glass container.
Both sets of their eyes lit up at the sight of all of the nick nacks lining the shelves and hanging from those round, spinning stands set out on the floor. There were objects of all colors of the rainbow β€” various plushies of sea life, those plastic grabbing tools that had shark heads on their ends, t-shirts with jellyfish and manatees, mugs for mom, and your typical mini license plates with people's names on them. Pippin, after a short moment of awe, ran amongst the shelves to look for a gift for her little coral friend.
Meanwhile, Eirwen struggled to support the weight of the tank. It felt like her arms were going to fall off. Why had she ever agreed to this?

Anything with a name on it was immediately out since Cni wasn't a common name, and the plushies β€” as cute as they were β€” just weren't suitable for a tank. That seemed to be the case with most of the items. Either they were too soft for water or the plastic might leak chemicals into it and kill Cni. Pippin frowned. She'd have to search harder for something suitable for her small friend.

Eventually, Pippin found some cute stickers that she could use to decorate the outside of the tank and grabbed the biggest shark plushie that she could find for herself. She returned to Eirwen, who at this point had given up holding the tank and set it down while she waited for Pippin.
"You ready to check out?" she asked, and Pippin nodded in return, handing her items over to the elder girl. Eirwen had agreed to pay and she could feel her bank account nearly draining dry from the sixty dollar plushie. But...it was worth it.

Once they had returned home, Pippin immediately got to work decorating Cni's tank. There were stickers of coral that she thought might help Cni feel less lonely, as well as stickers of various fish and even some cute bubbles and hearts. She smiled contently, satisfied with her work. It was then that Eirwen poked her head around the corner of the doorframe.
"Hey, Pippin?" she asked hesitantly with a smile. Pippin turned around to face her, looking at the girl expectantly. "I β€” uh β€” I got you something." She stepped in and sat down beside Pippin, holding a wrapped gift in her hands. Pippin looked at her in a mix of surprise and wonder before taking the gift and unwrapping it carefully.
"Oh my, Eirwen...it's so pretty! Thank you!" Inside the box was a blue coral plushie, exactly like Cni.
"Look underneath," Eirwen responded, on the edge of her seat. When Pippin held the plushie up, there was a beautiful glass sculpture beneath. It was a pink, branching coral. Pippin looked back at Eirwen, her mouth gaping in awe. "I thought Cni might get lonely so I got you a glass coral to put in the tank with it. And I had a plushie custom made to look like Cni, so even when we have to give Cni back to the ocean, you'll have something to remember it by." Pippin's eyes began to tear up. It was incredibly thoughtful of Eirwen to do all of this for her and she hugged the coral plushie tightly against her chest.
"T-Thank you so much, Eirwen! You're the best!" Eirwen hugged her tightly, smiling even harder which she didn't think was possible. "But now I wish that I had gotten you something," Pippin continued, laughing.
"Don't worry about it, today was your day after all. You deserve it!" Pulling away from the hug, Pippin went to wash her hands as a safety measure for Cni's wellbeing before grabbing the fake coral and setting it in the tank beside Cni. Stepping back, she held her hands to her hips with pride, nodding at her job well done.
Eirwen thought that Cni couldn't look any happier in that moment.

Take your coral to your favorite spot in the resort!:
The thing about ghosts was that they were very particular creatures by nature. They were difficult to please, but once you figured out their preferences they weren't all that unmanageable, all things said. Still, that meant there wasn't much room for deviation. Thalia had found this out the hard way. As it turned out Spooks - whom Thalia had begrudgingly upgrading from a a Potentially Cursed Coral to a Certainly Cursed Coral - was particularly particular.

The instant she had brought them out of their place of honor in the center of the room, the vibrant blue shade they had recently taken on had almost melted away. She swears she saw them wilt before her very eyes - fading away in a threat of nothingness that contained a flare of dramatics that would put any proper diva to shame. The beach, was clearly, out of the question. Spooks had made their home and was adamant about staying in it. So much for showing them the beauty of the water! So much for introducing them to a place far closer to their natural habitat. No, apparently her CCC had decided that outing were for normal people. Nature did not call for Spooks whom, apparently, would rather die than leave the cozy room they had laid claim too. What a pain.
