Text from FontMeme and lyrics from Cross Me by Ed Sheeran

kalon #; 1595
username; HowlToTheWind
name; Taurus "Toto" Wolfe
gender; Female
prompt; Taurus smiled wickedly as she dragged her friend along to the, allegedly, haunted house. "Come on, it'll be fine. Just don't insult the demons, ok?" She said, her voice sarcastic as ever. "That's not funny, Toto!" Her friend was clearly upset by their adventure. "Hey look, I'm sorry, ok? Let's go inside." Taurus led her friend inside the house, where the door had been unlocked. It was for sale, as the last family to live there had left it after they found out it was haunted. Taurus however, was completely unafraid of ghosts, demons, and what have you. She thought that they were quite interesting, really. You just had to be willing to learn about them and communicate with them. Taurus noticed the light, airy colors of the room her and her friend had just entered. "Wow... it's gorgeous!" Taurus was breathless. The pale golden colors of the wall, the dark wooden flooring, and the high ceilings. It didn't all look haunted. Though looks can be deceiving. Taurus heard a big bang from inside the living room, causing her and her friend to jump, though Taurus less than her friend. "Come on, let's check it out!" She dragged her friend to the living room, her paws gliding over the hard floor quickly and smoothly. Her bounds bringing her ever closer to the source of the bang. Once the duo had arrived in the living room, they were shocked by what they saw. It was a deep, blood red colored features with great ram horns adorning its canine-like head. Its ears were large and round, its eyes a piercing gold color. It had short, dense fur that had an unusual shine to it. It had large paws with black claws the size of Taurus's head. Its body was lean and muscular, and its tail was long, thin, and had a arrow shaped tip. All of the creature's canine teeth were protruding from its mouth. It whipped its head towards the duo, its face looking surprised, though happy. It smiled at Taurus, its eyes looking her over before looking over her friend. "Oh, company! Please, do come in. I haven't had company in weeks." Its voice was deep and smooth, though once it spoke, the two were much less scared of it. Taurus walked closer, her friend lagging behind a bit. She noticed that there was a table in the middle of the room, with a teapot and teacups sitting on it. Taurus and her friend sat down, the creature passing them each a cup and filling it with tea. The tea smelled softly of vanilla and mint, making Taurus smile. It was a unique scent that she'd never smelled before, but it smelled delicious. She dropped a couple lumps of sugar in her tea before taking a sip. It tasted exactly how it smelled. "So, who are you two?" The creature asked, its tone kind. "I'm Taurus, and this is my friend." Taurus gave a small smile to the creature. "What's your name?" She asked. "My name is Lucifer, but you can call me Luci."

And the three of them talked together all night. Taurus had the best night of her life. She would never forget meeting Luci. They would go on to be friends for the rest of their lives (550 words)

I'm partnering with Tremolite! Also, my story is the continuation of hers (even though her post is after mine!)

kalon #;1595
Username; sylkea
Name; Serenity
Gender; Female
Prompt:

"Hey Sierra... have you got any clue whatsoever on how to uhhh... crack this thing open?" Serenity asked, looking around for any clues.

That was a good question. As Sierra surveyed their surroundings, she noticed there was no immediate answer. The door--more like a slab of rock really--had no keyhole. It just had an emerald snake spiraling in the center. There wasn't a pressure plate or anything of the sort around. While Sierra was in the Treasure Hunting Zone, Serenity was mumbling something about "doors" and "stupid temples."

Serenity, hopelessly and depressingly, stared at the door. She tried conveying how she felt to it, hoping the snake would take pity on her and y'know, open up. However, as she looked--and she looked really hard--she noticed something peculiar. The snake was missing an eye.

"Sierra, you remember that Naga we fought earlier?" (In this case, by fought Serenity meant taking his necklace without realizing he was a Big Snake Man and then valiantly running away when forced to face the consequences) "The one we took the necklace from?"

"The one you took the necklace from?"

"Details, details. Could I borrow it for a second?'

"You figured something out?" Sierra tried her best not to get her hopes up Without giving it much of a thought, she tossed the necklace to her sister.

"Mmmaybe, just gimme a second." Serenity got up real close and personal to Mr. Snake and inserted the emerald necklace into its eye-slot. Serenity looked over to her sister. "It's a perfect fit!"

They didn't have the time to celebrate, as the ground began to shake vehemently.

The door slowly opened, leaving the sisters dumbfounded.

"That was..." Serenity trailed off, thinking of the correct word.

"Intense?"

"Yeah."
.
It didn't take long for Serenity to run inside, leaving her sister in the metaphorical dust. Sierra just shrugged and walked in after her. By now she knows her sister just Does Not Think.

"Wow... now this is what I was expecting." Serenity looked around in awe. The walls in the hallway were lined with shiny, black crystal.

"This must be how the temple got its name." Sierra whispered in awe.

They walked to the end of the hall and were met with two entrances, as well as a slab on the ground. Sierra read the passage aloud:

"Those of you who have slain the beast and gained the key must work together in harmony. Both paths hold a key, you must have both to proceed."

"Slain is a little subjective... but also isn't this like a huge oxy..." Serenity couldn't quite remember the word.

"Moron."

"Ouch. I know I do things without really thinking but that was just uncalled for." As she says this, Serenity attempts to make herself look as pitiful as possible.

"No its--augh forget it." Sierra paused, seriously thinking their new dilemma over. "Though I suppose it is just as you... said. We have to split up in order to work together."

They looked at each other, now sort of nervous. Well, Sierra was considerably more so

"Are you sure you want to do this, Ren?" Sierra asked.

"Totally! Dude, we've come this far. It can't be that dangerous!"

Sierra nodded, making her way toward the left door.

"Should we go through at the same time?" She asked, looking back at Serenity.

"Yeah, probably... Sierra?"

"Yeah?"

"Be safe. Love you."

"Love you too, Ren. Please don't die."

As soon as they stepped inside, the entrances closed on them.

Serenity (pointedly ignoring what sounded like a million snakes' unending hissing because she didn't really want to think about that right now) looked around the room. From what she could see, the floor in front of her was made up of pressure plates leading to the door. She should probably think about this.

"Ren? Can you hear me?" Serenity whipped around. She could hear her sister. She just couldn't see her.

"Yeah! What's up? You know--that goodbye seems really dramatic now that I think about it. Since we can still talk and all. Unless you're a ghost. That would be crazy."

"Yeah no I'm talking through the vent in the wall... And yeah it kind of was. What do you see in there?"

"Bunch of pressure plates. And a door."

Sierra didn't respond for a second. Then, a small "Aha!" could be heard through the wall.

"Serenity I think I know what's going on here!"

"Glad one of us does..." Serenity grumbled.

"Okay so the wall in my room has a whole bunch of squares. There's a picture of a snake slithering through the squares, so I'm guessing that's the path you have to go."

"What happens if I don't go that path?"

"I'm assuming we will both die, so make sure you listen Very Closely. I will describe the path to you now." Sierra spoke as though she was explaining this to a toddler.

Sierra explained the path very carefully, trying her best to not mess up, in turn making Serenity mess up. After a frightful trust-run, she heard her sister exclaim.

"Whoop! We did it!"

Quickly after, the wall in front of Sierra started going in to the floor. She saw Serenity, and ran up to hug her.

"Oh I'm so glad you're okay, Ren! We're not dead!"

"Yup, now let's go get that treasure!"

Serenity had a compelling point, so they went through the entrance on the far wall together.

The room was gorgeous. The walls were completely filled with that onyx, but there were millions of colors swimming through the black. There were piles of gold and crystals lining the floors. However, the thing that caught the sisters' attention was the emerald snake statue sitting on a pedestal in the far back.

Extra!!

Unexpectedly--really, no one could have guessed this would happen--Serenity ran over to the statue and picked it up.

"REN, NO!!!" Sierra yelled after her sister, but it did no good.

"What? We should take something back home with..."

Serenity trailed off as she realized that... the temple was shaking. A lot.

"Ren we have to get out of here. Now."

"Don't have to tell me twice!" Serenity put the statue in her backpack and ran toward the exit, urging her sister to do the same.

So, to all those losers in the Rainbow Raiders who said they couldn't win, they did it. One successful heist. Suck on That!

prompt; Sierra flattened out the map, pencil in hand.

"Okay, so. We have to make our way to Vanadium town, and from there we'll get someone to take us to Beryl Rainforest. From there, we have to follow this path to the Aquamarine River, and follow that to the south. The Crystal Onyx temple should be near the Sapphire Falls. Got it?"

"Yeah!" Serenity chirped.

"Alright. I'm going to bed, you should too. We're up and moving at dawn." Sierra walked to her room, calling out, "goodnight!"

...

Serenity burst into the room, excitedly yelling. "Get up!!! Let's go!!"

"Serenity I swear if I have to replace another door, you're paying for it this time." Sierra grumbled, standing and stretching. "Alright, alright, let's go. We'll eat on the way." She pushed through the cracked (but not broken!) door, walking outside.

"Its a long walk, are you ready?" Sierra asked, slipping into her backpack.

"Of course! Let's go!!" Serenity complained, running out of the house, barreling past Sierra.

"Wrong way."

...

"Are we there yet?!" Serenity groaned, dragging her feet.

"Almost. We need to walk for another ten minutes, before taking a left and walking straight for another half a mile. Then we'll reach Vanadium Town, find a guide, and rest for the night."

"Ughhhh, alright. God, I didn't realize how much walking this would be..."

"Mhm." Sierra hummed.

...

"Alright, Vanadium Town! Let's find some food!" Serenity cried, running forward and searching for somewhere to eat.

"Ah... sorry, everyone!" Sierra winced, before running after her sister. "Why do you always do this?" She sighed.

"Oh, hey, Sierra! I found food! And a guide! His name is Bismuth!" Serenity said around a mouthful of food.

Sierra sat at the table, beginning to eat the food Serenity ordered. "Ah... of course. Hello, I'm Sierra. Thank you for agreeing to guide us to the forest."

The Kalon nodded, before adding solemnly, "Of course. But... be careful. There are rumors of an ancient beast along the path, guarding the temple. It's said that those who go, never return."

Sierra blinked, dropping her fork back on her plate. "Wh-"

"Haha, neat!" Serenity said, focusing on her food. She gulped down the last bite, asking, "Hey, is there anywhere we can sleep tonight? It's been a long journey here."

"Yes, of course. Follow me."

...

There was a knock on the door. "Excuse me, but it's about time to go. If we leave now, you two can reach the forest around midday." Bismuth said, before walking away.

"Get up, Ren, we gotta go." Sierra shook her sister awake before strolling out of the room.

"Coming!!" Serenity cried, dashing out of the room. "Woohoo! Let's go!"

...

The three Kalon made their way to the rainforest, winding paths and steep inclines. They climbed another incline, before Bismuth suddenly stopped. A large canopy of trees stood, the inside a stark difference to their sunny surroundings.

"This is as far as I can take you two, I'm afraid. Good luck, and stay safe." He bowed his head.

"Thank you. And you, as well, stay safe on your way back."

The Kalon turned, beginning his trek back to the village.

"Alright, Ren, remember the plan?"

"Uhhh... yeah? We... follow the path, and then... follow the river to the North?" Serenity asked, hesitating.

"Good, but not quite. South, not North."

"Alright!" Serenity swung her pack off of her back, digging through to grab her helmet. Sierra did the same, grabbing her helmet, compass and machete.

"Off we go!"

...

Cutting through the brush, the Kalons reached a clearing. "Look, the riv-!"

"Ooh, shiny!!" Serenity cried, before grabbing and yanking a beautiful emerald from the ground.

All of a sudden, the ground started moving, leaves falling and the earth rising. A large naga, twice as big as the two Kalons combined, rose from the ground, looking at the two before beginning to raise his hand.

"...Serenity?"

"Yeah?"

"R. U. N!" Sierra screeched, grabbing her sister and dashing away. "Why do you always do things like that?! We could have died!!"

"Hey! You two could have jusssst asssked, you know! I wasssn't going to hurt you!" A voice hissed after them, but the sudden voice caused the Kalons to panic and run faster.

...

Sierra cut through the last of the thick foliage, coming to a clearing. She walked over to the river before collapsing into the cool water. "Ren.... are you... okay?" She gasped.

"Yeah! That was awesome!" Serenity yelled, before running to her sister. "Get up!! We're almost there! I bet!"

...

As the Chromatic Crusaders (a highly esteemed treasure hunting duo with... well no completed heists just yet, but that will change extremely soon thank you very much) fought their way through the brush of the Beryl Rainforest, they finally found where their treasure map led. Serenity and Sierra excitedly looked at each other. From their vantage point, the Crystal Onyx Temple looked massive. Man, the Rainbow Raiders (a very Mean and Nasty rival group who always beats the Crusaders in their hunts because they are Bullies) wished they knew about this

"It... doesn't look as pretty as I expected it would." Serenity dejectedly stated. "I mean--the name Crystal Onyx Temple sort of invokes... well something more than just some stone and vines..." She trailed off, seemingly waiting for Sierra's input.

"Ren... we just walked through this extremely perilous rainforest, and you're going to complain about how the temple looks...? We haven't even gone inside yet." Sierra attempted to give Serenity the most unamused look she could muster, but she was really much too excited to bother.

"Weeeell when you put it like that, let's go!!!" Serenity ran ahead, making her way up the stairs, cackling like a manic hyena.

"No! That's not--darn it Serenity!!! You always do this!" Sierra yelled after her hyperactive sister, trying her best to catch up.

Partner form with Sylkea. Hopefully this is allowed? It's kinda two different adventures merged into one... Mine is the adventure to the temple, hers is the adventure through the temple! If you notice the sudden change in writing style sylkea may have.... went over the limit even with the extra so she sent me her beginning to incorporate into my end. (u can definitely tell hers is funnier shsjsjssj)

Angelo ducked into the alley- just in time to avoid a troop of Iron Soldiers marching past. He clutched his bag, the one he couldn’t let out of his sight, the one he definitely did not want anyone else to see, tightly to his chest, pressing himself further against the hard brick. He wished he could melt into the wall, and stay there, if it meant he would be safe. Staying in the city was getting more dangerous with every second, for more guards kept appearing. Although he had his suspicions about why their number had increased, he could only guess.

But it was imperative he made it out of the city alive. His life depended on it.

He let out a huff of relief as they marched out of sight. Their heavy footsteps faded away, until it was nothing. He stood up, swinging his pack onto his back. He peeked out of the alley quickly, catching sight of the open street. To his dismay, not a hundred yards away, a second group of Iron Soldiers marched swiftly towards him. Angelo ducked back into the alley. Although it was dark and dusty, maybe it would be safer than the open road.

He snuck down the alley, his footsteps light on the hard stone. He ducked left, and then right, thankful for a vast knowledge of the city’s backstreets. The bag weighed heavily on his shoulders, as he ducked through a low hole in a fence covering the alley. He stared out around him, taking in the massive piles of old cars, piled high around the blacktop. He could see several, no trespassing signs on the outer side of the fence.

Angelo began to stride forward- but was stopped when his bag squirmed.
“Not again,” he muttered, as his bag began to shake. He glanced around, hoping, praying that no one had seen them. When he was sure the coast was clear, he ducked into a massive metal box, sitting on the back on an old truck. The box was slanted, due to missing half its wheels, but it would suffice for his purposes.

He swung the back onto the cold metal, kneeling down next to it. He pulled open the flap, and glared into the bag. Although rather small on the outside, the bag had been magically enlarged, to suit his purposes. Inside, it contained a mass of blankets, where a black dragon was curled up. The dragon’s eyes were narrowed, glaring forcefully up at him.

“You have to stop moving, Cosmos,” he told it sternly. “Getting you of the city is hard enough without being seen by those stupid Iron soldiers. If someone saw my bag moving, you’d be taken for sure!”

Cosmos shifted around on his nest. A nebula of color flared on his wings, and thousands of stars appeared on his scales. Ever since he had grown, becoming almost as large as Angelo, the dragon had been acting as though he didn’t have to listen to him.

“I know you don’t want to leave,” said Angelo, “But you’re getting too big for the hatchery. If you stayed any longer, you would be discovered. Things are bad enough since security has increased in the city, but if you or the hatchery was found, we’d all be dead.”
Cosmos huffed. He glanced back up at Angelo, and blinked slowly. Angelo knew the dragon understood. He reached into the bag, and scratched Cosmos under his chin. The dragon hummed happily, and settled himself more comfortably on the blankets. Angelo breathed a sigh of relief, and closed his back.

“You could also stand to lose a few pounds,” Angelo grumbled, as he heaved the bag back onto his shoulders. Cosmos nipped his back through the back of the bag, but remained still. Angelo crept from the box, and hurried out of the fenced area as fast as he could.

~~~~~~~
Angelo glanced around. On either side, the street was deserted. Before him, the dark wall stood imposingly against the smoke-filled sky. Houses lined the bottom of the dark stone, and guards wandered the ramparts, peering out into the darkness beyond the city. Angelo took a deep breath, and ran forward.
He ducked into through the door of an empty home, one of the many that had been abandoned this close to the wall. Cobwebs hung in the corners, and he could barely see. However, he knew this building like the back of his paw, and could traverse it easily. He made his way deeper into the house. The cellar door, one of the few that were still intact, creaked open as he pushed it. His bag quivered as they descended. Angelo blinked as his eyes adjusted. He could barely make out the stacks of boxes lining the walls.
He moved forward. A rat skittered past his feet. With a paw outstretched, he felt along the boxes until he discovered a crevasse, just big enough for him to squeeze through. He forced himself into it, disappearing through the dark. With a paw stretched out before him, he reached found a wooden door, set into the dirt. He forced it open, grunting with the effort. He blinked, as his eyes were met with a sudden bright light of a lantern, one that burned constantly in the dark. The warm light illuminated a tunnel, winding into the dark.
Angelo felt a snout touch the back of his neck. He glanced around, and saw Cosmos poking his head out of the pack. He stared mournfully at Angelo.
“I know you don’t want to say goodbye,” said Angelo, smiling sympathetically. “I don’t either. But on the either side of this tunnel, beyond this cursed city, is a world full of possibility. You’ll like it much better. You might even be able to see the stars.”
Cosmos’s eyes lit up at the mention of stars. He retracted his head into the bag. Angelo grinned, and began to stride forward, towards a new life of possibility and adventure.
