To combat his self imposed loneliness, Solrun throws himself into his work and dedicates his time perfecting his craft to the best of his abilities. If he isn't hanging with anyone, might as well as get good. As an example, Solrun had almost perfect grades in school; but now he struggles to relax. He's always on Gotta Go Be Busy mode, otherwise it feels like he's wasting his time.
"Get in losers, we're going to the ocean."
Solrun stared at his friends who stared right back. Ocean? There were no plans to go the ocean, were there? He already checked and he was certain he hadn't been texted or called about it and he had work to do -
"Stop overthinking, Sol! Be impulsive for once in your life. Get in!"
Heart leaping into his throat, Solrun quickly made a pros and cons chart in his mind. The pros outweighed everything; it would be fun quality time with his friends, and who didn't enjoy looking at the ocean? Maybe a trip could calm his brainfog. Hhhh. Might as well.
He's indecisive. Multiple opinions against his will force him into the majority's side. He tends to over-think situations and can't ever stick on a decision because of it. His job, journalist for the newspaper, makes this easy by giving him a topic to research, or a skeleton for what he needs to do. No thinking really necessary for deciding a route. You just need a story. Easy!
Solrun raised his camera, squinting one eye closed as he fiddled with the focusing ring. His friends shoved each other teasingly as they tried to get into a good position with the sun in their eyes. He stuck his tongue out, and thanked his job for giving him the patience and talent to do this. His friends would've been acting like it was black magic or something.
When they finally settled on a position, Solrun counted down from three and took a burst of photos to go through later. A second photoshoot was done with silly poses and faces, and Solrun couldn't keep back laughter at them which made the photos slightly shaky. When Solrun went through the photos later, he personally thought it added to the humor of the situation.
Changing old habits is a fighting battle, and Solrun runs headfirst into it every day. His friends had persuaded him to get a pet. Animals could help lower anxiety and create a better home atmosphere. It wasn't that bad of a idea, honestly. Solrun was lonely if he wasn't with his friends and that was 99 percent of the time. So, Solrun had been dragged to a shelter and adopted an older aged cat affectionately named Oreo. Oreo wouldn't leave Solrun's side if he was at home and demanded snuggles 24/7. His apartment felt 10x more lively with Oreo chattering away at a leaf blowing outside the window or scrabbling her claws against the floorboard while running around. Solrun still finds himself isolating himself, but with Oreo by his side, his friends could be reassured that he wasn't sulking in an empty apartment drowning in his work. He had to look after himself and his cat.
Recommendations from his friends also included: taking up multiple tv series to occupy himself, get invested in a fandom to keep his mind off his anxieties, buy a sketchbook and draw then get frustrated about drawing because it's better than nothing, or splurge some money on a couple of video games and try to do a complete finish. Of course, Solrun doesn't take these up because he's always thinking of work or, now, his cat. Oreo means more to Solrun than anything and he would do anything for her.
