Yasu
the serene swordmaster

"A war!?" Yasu's mother fretted, wringing her paws as she paced back and forth.

"My child, you're so peaceful. War is dangerous, and you're not a fighter!"

Yasu stood calmy in front of his mother, waiting patiently for his turn to speak. He placed a paw on his mother's shoulder with a gentle touch.

"Yes mother, I place great value in peace."

He paused and closed his eyes, thinking about everything he had been contemplating for the past couple months.

There was trouble brewing in the neighboring country. A minority group of kalons had been targeted for years, and recently the government began cracking down on them. Many were immigrating to Yasu's country as exiles, forced to abandon everything and start over. Two months ago, Yasu met one of these exiles and absorbed his story with intense interest. Yasu had so far lived a life of peace and seclusion, and hearing the story of this pained individual shook him to his very core.

He had always thought little of kalons who quarrelled and fought. He was a peaceful kalon who stayed out of conflict, not even retaliating when being insulted. He was not one to wish harm on another. But after hearing an account of this extreme discrimination, he could not stop thinking about it.

What did these kalons do to deserve their misery and suffering? They were living their lives, just as I do. They are denied peace though they did not pick a fight. What is this injustice?

Yasu opened his eyes and spoke.

"I cannot enjoy my peaceful life knowing there are others so close that don't have this luxury."

His mother wordlessly held her son's paw.

"As your son, I realize how much I mean to you, mother," Yasu stated calmly, "I promise I will not throw away my life in vain."

Shortly after, Yasu trained in the art of the sword. His talent of intense focus allowed him to master the art like a natural. His unique mindset among warriors made him an unpredicable foe to contend with. His serene composure gave him an air of confidence that sometimes threw off would-be contenders before they even struck a blow.

Yasu began to gain a bit of a reputation, and other kalons began to seek him out to test their strength. However, remebering his promise to his mother, he doesn't take challengers. There are only two reasons he will ever fight, for the sake of others or for self-defense. He only fights battles he is confident in winning.

Yasu dislikes killing, though it is inevitable in the path he chose. For every life he takes, he finds a place to meditate for three hours. If the meditation is interrupted, he starts over. At the end of the meditation, he sends a prayer for their soul. Yasu ultimately fights for peace, and even though others must be cut down in the sake of peace, he still wishes peace upon their souls.



I just have to say, this kalon is beautiful! I just really liked the idea of attaching a strong but serene character to them. If I'm chosen, this will be my first kalon and he would certainly be cherished. Either way, thank you so much for this opportunity!

personality: cressida is a quite peaceful kalon. she always one to hold a calming aura around her with no worries for her. through that, she is seen as a good listener and guide for others. she is always seeking out her purpose and always feels like something is missing from her life. along with that, she is always one to be willing to help anyone. overall, she is seen as one with out much worries and always wanting to help others.

brief history: she came up with a humble beginning in the outskirts capital as a baker. her family often recanted folk tales of the kingdom and stories from the family. she always had a decent upbringing. she raised herself in her teenage years after her family had to leave the kingdom for a bit to sort things out somewhere else for a couple years. the bakery kept her a float as she grew older. when rumors of the ruler started to spread around the kingdom, cressida never really understood why and just always refused to participate. a letter came from the ruler. it shocked her as she learned of her familial relationships between them both and requesting a visit to the palace.

short story: her paws froze in place as the doors opened. she was brought to the place out of suspicion that the current ruler might not have an heir. from the whispering of the guards, she was the closest living relative that the ruler had even though they were somewhat distant cousins. their family tree's split off from their shared great by six grandparents. her mind snapped back to reality as she saw the grand throne room with the golden touches and grand pillars down the hall. the ruler sat watching as she did a quick bow before entering.

the ruler broke the silence. "no need for that, you are royal now. high ranks never bow before me unless it's a ball or feast with a decent sized crowd. so, don't worry about that little thing," the ruler said with a warm smile. she got out of her throne to head down to meet her distant cousin.

"of course, your-" cressida tried to say before the ruler cut her off.

"no need for that, just refer to me by my name nabirye," nabirye interrupted. "follow me as you'll probably want a small tour of the place as you will get lost without it. if you need help with getting around, please tell one of the maids as they can easily guide you." nabirye lead cressida out of the throne room.

cressida followed behind nabirye. she knew her future was changing before her as a new royal of the family. it would different from now on, and she knew that she would have to adapt.

the near future for her: cressida eventually settles into her duties of her new rank. it causes some attention that she was never use to. she uses her power to try to cause good, but it is hard to get anything pass nabirye as she has the last say in anything. if she ever had doubts, she always goes to her for help.

she is given a nickname of "the little heiress" even though she isn't a true heiress for the throne, just a temporary one. she learns to love the title even if temporary. cressida is often seen as someone in the queen's shadow. she feels ready for the rest of her future no matter comes of it.

relationships:


nabirye - distant cousin and mentor - cressida knew that nabirye would help her settle in her role as the possible heir. it caused them to grow quite close and grow a very nice relationship between them both. she looks up to nabirye greatly and loves to be around her. no matter what she hopes that nabirye would always be around to help and guide her along with keeping close with her.

chilali - current advisor of nabirye - cressida often sees chilali planning everything with nabirye. he seems to be very careful with everything. the conversations that they have sometimes have gave her a great deal.of respect for him. they always tend to share mutual respect even though he doesn't seem to care much for her.

helena - possibility of being her advisor - she was sort of forced into having a decent relationship with helena as she could easily be her advisor if she ever ascends to the throne. it can get awkward between them, but they have a somewhat good real yet not really that great. helena seems sweet through her eyes and wishes that they had a better relationship.

boris - head guard which rarely talks to her - she never even heard a.single word uttered to her; however, she often sees some words whispered to nabirye as he is her personal guard. cressida tries to get him to talk a little to her, but it doesn't seem to work that well. through her eyes, he seems quite mysterious and somewhat scary from what she heard from asherah about his sword work.





faust solora - her doctor - she nevers really tends to see her often as faust tends to be seen only around nabirye if reporting experiment results. faust only had conversations with her if there was something wrong with her. she understands that faust was quite busy and can't spare time for talking about anything outside of her work.

erin - had some conversations - cressida doesn't really see her around, but she heard from tempeste that her mother erin is a merchant that often travels at most times. they few conversations that she had were at balls where she often saw her around her family of chilali, helena, and tempeste sabeen.

tempeste sabeen - acquaintance - cressida often sees her in the palace with her sister helena in tow. they had quite a few conversations and often have some small talk whenever they cross paths. she can say that tempeste is calm and collected.





asherah - good friend - cressida was the first kalon who she met outside of the palace even though she is in the garden to help.out with something. they often share the same experiences of being thrown into a huge role at young age. this causes them to grow quite close to face the world together as the best pair of friends that one could be. they can be seen as walking through the halls of the palace together giggling and talking. cressida often seems to be wishing for more, but she doesn't know what as they keep in bonding quite quickly.

audelia mina (top) and audrey (bottom) - a pair of close friends - cressida is often around them whenever they are staying with asherah. she just loves to be around them as she just finds them to be quite fun. they always enjoy playing together. even though she doesn't have to, she would protect them with all of her might from any threats due to how much she loves them. her personal favorite one of them is audelia as she lets her mess around with her hair.
