The light of the fireflies outside my window and the cool breeze passing through the screen brings me a sense of sanctuary on the lonely nights that I write my stories, stories I want to pass down one day.

These stories bring me a false comfort; an escape from a reality I’m entangled in. I’ve lost many things recently, but these tales will always be, and the thought of that helps me cope.

I prefer Dusk (Night) because the low light allows me to feel more relaxed, and the sun is never in your eyes. I love the shade and with a slight wind, it feels like the ideal weather outside and you can't get sunburn. It also still has enough light to continue seeing rather well. Often, fireflies come out at this time as well.

Night has a certain allure, despite the bugs swirling around and forming clouds of wings and legs around the lights. It's cooler, and, if you're in the right place, the moon and stars shine above and twinkle with light that's traveled for thousands of lightyears. It's calming, staring up at the sky and seeing all the different shapes and colors of the moon. Sometimes there's an eclipse, and the moon is blindingly bright and dazzling. It feels calmer at night, and yet also alive with energy waiting to be unleashed.

I have always preferred the night...daytime is so drab and stiff. By day I am Marie of the upper class, with perfect manners, a straight back, and well known parents. But by night...*chuckles*...by night no one can recognize me. Whether I'm out in society or just at a party, no one sees me coming. In society, the nighttime is a beautiful blanket that covers my quick hands going in pockets. At parties, the music is so loud, no one hears anything but what they want to hear. It's a perfect time for uncovering secrets and lies.
