I never meant to do it.
It was always an accident.
Until. Until it wasn't.

A scream, piercing the calm night air.
A bell, tolling far in the distance.
The perfect settings for an accident.

It was so awful- the fall, my body-
all my fault. And I never forget.
I never forget. That day is preserved.

Adyn jolted into the present as something pinged against their head.
Ow. A jellybean, they realised as they groped on the floor.
And they touched their cheeks, to find them wet with tears.

Always so sad about it, they thought angrily, slamming the sweet down on their desk.
Never just admitting it- always so stubborn, that was what caused it in the first place.
All my fault, they finally confessed to themself, choking down a thick sob.

Picking up their pencil again, Adyn faced the board.
"Write about a time you regret," was written in bold, block lettering.
That was bad timing. Bowing his head, Adyn began to write, to disclose all the guilt that burdened their chest.
