hello everyone! it has been a while.

i'm posting today to update everyone on the future of chokii adopts. we've been pretty busy with things like school and work, as well as a few major life events, and we decided on a few changes to chokiis.

lines

briefly, we experimented with the possibility of relining chokiis, but i think that they're fine just the way they are now. that said, pupkii lines are still being updated and may change slightly from what they were before. until they are finished, no new batches will be made.

hair edits

we will be making a major change to the way hair edits are done. since a chokiis hair is basically an extension of its fur, long hair edits will now be considered lumped in with long fur edits. thus, if you get a chokii that has long fur but short hair, you would be free to "grow out" that chokiis hair and give them a long hairstyle. likewise, if you have a chokii with long hair and long fur, you are free to "cut" that chokiis hair and change it to a shorter style without needing an edit item to do so. chokiis with short fur will, from now on, be required to have short hairstyles, but may have long hair using an edit item.

this does not apply to any chokiis already existing that have short fur but long hair. hair edit items will be considered a separate, non-rarity item, exclusively for changing the hairstyle of a chokii outside of what it would normally be able to have. (such as giving a hairless chokii hair, or a short-furred chokii long hair.) hair edits will not change the trait that a chokii will pass down to its offspring. (so even if a short-haired chokii has a hair edit item, it will still pass down its short-fur trait.) this means that in breedings, a pupkii that inherits the short-fur trait will always have short hair, but a pupkii that inherits the long-fur trait may have short or long hair depending on the artist.

of course, changes to chokii references, even without needing an edit item, must be approved. the length of fur can still be permanently changed with separate edit items.

any chokiis made before the changes go into effect will not be held to these standards, and will keep their rarities. the only changes they will have is that when breeding, long fur/hair will take priority in passing. so, if a chokii from before the changes has long hair but short fur, they will genetically be considered a long-fur chokii. same for a long-fur chokii with short hair. users with long fur chokii that were made before the change may change their chokii's hair to long if it is short, but may not make a long haired chokii's hair short without an edit item. all chokii made after the changes go into effect will be subject to the new rules.

the shop

going forward, chokiis will no longer sell MYOs or edit items in shops. edit items and MYOs will exclusively be obtainable through events and/or through the giving tree. because they will no longer be sold, they will also be slightly easier to get.

the giving tree

the way the giving tree works is also going to be changing. instead of "giving" to tree for things in return, the giving tree will offer prompts to help you develop your chokii. these prompts may offer prizes, and for every person who participates the tree will grow 2%, and when it reaches 100% will still host a grand raffle of prizes.

myo event

starting on may first, we will be launching an myo event for anyone to make their own chokiis. you'll be able to make one standard and one common chokii at no cost, either on your own or through someone else. we'll update the main page when this happens.

that's all the big changes for now, and i'd like to open a q&a for anyone to ask any questions or make any suggestions they would like before the changes go into effect.

the changes are due to start on May 1st, 2019 at 12:00 midnight.

hello!

today's announcement comes with some sad news. as of june 1st, 2019, chokii adopts will be officially closing its doors as a closed species. i want to thank all of you who have been part of this community for the past year, for all of the support and love you've given chokiis. i really appreciate every one of you.

unfortunately, i've just had to make some pretty difficult decisions in the way of what i can and cannot handle. i love chokiis to death and i want them to stay alive, but i don't want to sell them or give them away. so, instead, chokii adopts are going to become a semi-open species. users will be able to create an unlimited amount of their own, with certain restrictions, and be able to breed their own chokiis. chokiis will still not be able to be sold or traded for anything but other chokiis.

i hope that you will all continue to give chokiis your support, and that you have continued patience during this transition.

hello, folks!

because of my fairly busy life and my commitment to other upcoming projects, chokiis will be moving to primarily new ownership. you can find the new thread here!

this post is to formally acknowledge that the thread is being moved and that cs user #612564 [Stardust Cowboy] has my consent to take over as the primary owner of chokii adopts. referenced user may make any changes to the lines or the species within reason and as long as those changes follow these guidelines [as per our discussion on discord over the fate of the species]:


• the main principles of chokiis will remain intact, meaning that this species must continue to harbor a community that values fair treatment of users and does not discriminate or prioritize against any one user or party;

• the species will remain under ownership of the original founders and any changes to ownership [via sales, trading, or simply giving them away] will be done with the notice and consent of the original founders cs user #612564 and cs user #477626;

• the species will not implement EULAs, TOS agreements, or any other kind of legally or otherwise promissory binding contract that may result in loss of ownership. chokii adopts has never and will never be able to readopt designs/characters or withdraw ownership of designs/characters made under this species. agreements of this kind, including browsewrap, are neither enforceable nor legally appropriate on a children's website; any owners of chokii adopts will be required to understand and agree with these terms no matter how the species may be transferred;

• users will have 72 hours to complete any of the open adopts that were in progress at the time of this announcement. those adopts will still be considered as legitimate adopts in the species, and may be used as such. MYOs left over from the V1 closed species version [like founder MYOs] will be addressed on a case by case basis--please contact cs user #612564 for any questions or claims on this matter. cs user #612564 has the right to reject any open adopt MYOs that do not follow the open adopt version's rules into the new closed version of the species.

• all legitimate adoptables, MYOs, nursery batches, growths and items from the V1 closed species and open adoptables versions must be accepted as legitimate adopts rolling over into the new closed species version, but do not have to be allowed transfer into new lines.

if you have any outstanding MYOs, items, or open adoptables, you must let cs user #612564 know that you have unfinished work by april 1st, 6:30pm MST. any claims of unfinished, in-progress work will not be accepted after that date and will not be entitled to entry into the new closed species.
