only starlight

every star in the sky represents a person. we’re all just a single sparkling light, just one out of billions. sometimes it's easy to forget the individuals; what's captured in memory is the sea of stars as an entirety, and over a lifetime, do you really remember people as the individuals they were?

but you remember some stars. sirius, vega, rigel. those are your friends, your family. the people important to you. the stars that shine brightest in your sky.

we have a star we call the north star, our guiding light. the star that brings us home when we’re lost, that stays a constant in our lives. everyone finds their north star eventually. noemi found hers a few years ago.

it was just a casual interaction. one that’d played forth several times that day with several people. and they were just stars, like any other, and it didn't occur to her at first that one shone brighter in her sky.

she and they were both. dumb. young and kinda goofy, their conversation was awkward and yet it went on and on and on, and it never did stop. it just spiraled into something bigger, and bonds grew deeper— too deep, they knew far too much about each other— and they shone so brightly in the presence of one another that they lit their entire skies alone.

there are so many things that make noemi happy. she loves watercolor; it's a delicate and rewarding medium. she loves horses and big dogs, loyal animals, and easy to cuddle with. she loves the crisp air in the morning and she loves coffee cake and well developed fantasy worlds and cute clothes that work for the in between of cold and warm weather.

it’s easy to make her happy. she loves a lot of things.
but there's only one thing she thinks about all hours of the day, that makes her smile at random intervals, that makes her want to cry because god, she loves them, and then cry some more because nothing and no one else has ever made her cry because she's happy.

her best friend. her north star. because they've taken her hand and lead her somewhere she wants to be— with them. in their starlight.

He is happiest when he sees the children he looks over safe and happy!
Barsik is a member of a very important group, they don't really have a name but they pride themselves in the work they do. He is apart of a talented group of wizards and witches who watch over kits of all sorts and sizes to keep the "monster under the bed" at bay, he's basically a nightmare wrangler!

At night, Barsik joins his teammates to scour through towns and cities to battle different beasts that cause the kits and the children to have terrible nightmares. Barsik's nights are spent entirely battling those fearsome monsters and his work is tiring, sometimes draining and he couldn't deny it but he feels so warm and bubbly inside when he sees that the kits and the children no longer have a tensed, uneasy expression while they sleep, but a soft, peaceful one. He feels happy that all his hard work pays off in the end.
Barsik always loved kids and he's overjoyed that he can help these kids feel happy and safe too, in his own little way.
