hey everyone! so sorry about the lull in activity lately, ive been busy in the background coming up with a breeding system and working on commissions.

i've come with an announcement! due to some problems in said breeding system concerning the nature of how base colors were determined, i've simplified the genes considerably. the base colors themselves will stay the same (red, fennec, arctic and dark), but the genes determining them have been reworked!

you can read in detail on the genetics guide, but the basics are as follows:

the extension gene (E), determines the distribution of eumelanin (black pigment) and pheomelanin (red pigment) in the coat. if a dominant allele is present (EE or Ee) the chyro will be red. if the gene is homozygous recessive (ee), then the chyro will be dark.

the dilution gene (D), determines if the coat will be lightened. if one dominant allele is present (Dd), then any pheomelanin (red pigment) in the coat will be lightened, causing red chyros to become fennec, but having virtually no effect on dark chyros. if the gene is homozygous dominant (DD), then the chyro will be an arctic, no matter what is in their extension gene.
