name: finnegan, finn for short.
gender: male
how have they changed overtime?:
finn let out a steady breath through his mouth, watching as the slow fog escaped his mouth. his eyes searched the darkness in front of him, gloved hands gripping his assault rifle tightly. the only thing that could be heard was their footsteps against the metal floor and the creaking of the space-ship, and now, synnove's shaky voice.
"think it's a trap?"
finn swallowed, preferring not to answer that question. all he wanted to focus on was stepping as quietly as he could and the gun in his hands.
"probably", a voice came to his right, which belonged to isak, synnove's adopted son. "i mean, when have they ever been civil people? they've never offered a truce before to anyone else, unless they have and killed them once they showed up to make it official. i mean, why do you think they would only want three people to come and not the whole crew?"
a sigh could be heard from synnove, and finn's eyes traveled to the outline of her body in front of him.
"such an optimist," she muttered under her breath.
"hey, you're the one who asked," isak replied.
"yeah? well i was expecting-"
synnove stopped moving in front of them, putting out her arm to stop them. a voice was coming from a loudspeaker, and the lights suddenly switched on, finn squinting and blinking rapidly at the sudden change.
"proceed forward, but leave your weapons at your feet."
they all exchanged glances before lowering their weapons to the ground, isak at first hesitating before mumbling something and placing it on the floor.
"good," came the voice again, "now at the end of this hallway, make a right, and you'll be in the conference room. we're glad you decided for this truce; who knows what might've happened to your precious little group had you refused."
"well that's reassuring," isak said sarcastically, synnove giving him a look before continuing forward. finn stayed silent, just wanting this all to end.
soon, they were walking into the large room, many people in the room, the leader in the front of them, large smile on his face. finn could feel the nervousness rising in his chest, and he was almost positive he was about to pass out.
"welcome," the leader called out in a booming voice, throwing his hands in the air and then harshly clapping them together. "shall we begin?"
the three of them stayed back, near the door they had entered through, before the leader motioned them forward.
"come, come," he said, nodding his head and continuing to motion for them.
synnove and isak walked forward, coming to the table the leader was standing in front of. finn followed slowly, meeting eyes with some of the aliens around them. the last one he met eyes with gave him a sinister, knowing smile, and finn averted his eyes. he stopped a few feet behind synnove and isak.
"you made the right choice," the leader said, smile slowly fading from his face, until it was a frown.
"who knows what would've happened to the rest of your community?" he said, voice soft as he tilted his head to the side to make eye contact with finn.
"finnegan."
synnove and isak glanced at each other, both expressing bewilderment.
"how does he know your n-"
finn watched as she turned to face him, her face going from confusion to fear. he was holding a pistol to her forehead, a slight tremor going through his body, his jaw clenching as he tried to keep a straight face, tears in his eyes.
"finn?" isak said softly, finn then turning the gun on him.
the rest of the aliens around them had produced guns from their waistbands, ready to fire.
the leader let out a laugh, slowly walking to stand behind finn, placing his hands roughly on his shoulders, making him jump, but he still pointed the gun at the people he once stood beside.
"ah. seasons change, and so do people, my dear synnove. and your friend here," he squeezed finn's shoulders, "has decided to make a decision that would better everyone in your community. unfortunately, that means..." he smiled as he stared at the two. "you two will have to suffer."
"finnegan, how could y-"
"don't!" finn shouted, the leader laughing as he lowered finn's arms, turning him away. he could hear the others closing in on synnove and isak.
"don't worry about them. you're one of us now, finnegan."

Username: whim // Name: Soni // Gender: male // How have they changed overtime?:
A sprout born into a field of colors -
Gifted, protected, ignorant.
"Soni, my child." Intelligence prominent through the articulation of words, maintaining endearment. The two stood proud on the balcony laced in gold, their regal gazes settled on the society below as a king would to his subjects.
"Yes, mother."
"You were playing amongst those filthy children."
"... Yes, mother."
"You mustn't do that."
"One of them needed help..."
"No. You do not aid the poor."
Soni became hyperaware of his heartbeat, his being, his steady breaths... Had he not deterred from his path, the kit he had helped would most certainly have... No, he wasn't to cloud his thoughts with that dark possibility. Was he to listen to his mother?
Rich soil turns to cracked earth -
Flowers wilt around, the sprout flourishes into maturity.
It was merely an afterthought. Below Soni took in the sleek granite of the familiar balcony. Seizing his family's power had been swift and effortless... The kingdom would be under his name. No tolerance for those... "Filthy" kalons his mother once denounced them to be.
Vivid green turns to yellow turns to brown -
Soon sprout turns to tree and dominates.
His dynasty grew. The grand palace in which he called his home only became more vast, demanding only the most specialized of hands to set work on carving the intricate designs. And with the growth of the palace came the growth of the shadow that had captured him years before... His paws became greedy. His eyes turned to hunger. His mind became gold. There was never a time when he would not think of himself.
Furious skies, howling winds, parched earth.
It falls with a mighty crash.
The small town he had once known deteriorated. Pavements had cracks that stemmed out like the roots of a grand tree. The roofs of some homes suffered and peeled away as a lizard does with its old coat. Though unlike the lizard, it does not gain a new coating. Life suffered, struggling to find nourishment and any sense of happiness. Nothing bloomed as it once did. Except for Soni.
Stride after careful stride, the kalon carefully placed each pompous step down the moss infested cobblestone, not daring to make eye contact with a single soul. His destination was of far more importance. More so than giving attention to the glares that followed him out.
The storm came with vengeance and fury. It did not deter away from revealing its emotions, tearing apart anything to come in its way. Rain spat down with rage, collecting in dips of hills, creating an unfortunate event for those who lived towards the base. Thunder clapped above, flashes dancing throughout the sky. Soni pushed through this mess on his journey back, wanting none more than to return to the safety of his palace.
"Soni!" A voice screeched out that sounded like a roar of thunder in itself. Eyes darting around, the kalon traced the source. Picking up his pace, he came across an unsteady bridge, threatening to collapse at any moment.
Below him were those familiar eyes... Azure, serene, like a sky. Though, filled with intense fear.
"Juni..." The name fell out his mouth as if it were taboo to mention. Thoughts of his mother resurfaced... For this was the kalon he had initially helped. The so-called "filthy child." And there she was, hanging on the edge of the peak, nothing but a furious river crashing down below her. His expression went blank.
"Help me!"
He turned his back.
"Soni?!"
He took a few steps.
"What are you doing?! Come back!"
He took off with a stride.
And thus, blooms another sprout.
Those shouts had never left him. Once he had returned to his palace, he found that it had been destroyed alongside the village. The word had spread about what happened to Juni.
Emotions swelled inside him and he ducked his head in shame. All he could do was apologize and leave behind his fortunes in order to rebuild the town.
There was no excuse for how awful Soni had lived his life nor his selfish, despicable actions. He understood that. He accepted that. Though, instead of sulk, he would put his efforts and emotions towards two goals. He vowed to never let his fortune bring evil to his life, and instead, he would use it to aid others misfortune. The other goal... Well, he would follow the river. He would find Juni. Let her know just how much she had changed him.

How have they changed overtime?: I first met her in the summer, when the air smelled of sweet honey, and the trees stretched their green limbs out far and wide, bearing the ripe gifts of their summer fruit. It was in my fourth day of knowing her that I knew she was the one. I couldn’t describe it, but there was something about the way she talked to me that made my heart’s flame come alive with warmth.
"Will you stay by my side forever?" she asked, a hopeful spark of light in her beautiful brown eyes.
I smiled, pure joy and compassion radiating from my heart. "Of course, Leia. Anything for you."
"You promise?"
"I promise you this and more, my darling." I said this to her with absolute certainty, never doubting myself for a second. I wrapped her in my arms, feeling that everything was going to be okay.
We spent many days together, Leia and I. We never had a care in the world. Money, food, or other matters of practicality never crossed our minds. But when the leaves turned to brown and fell from the trees, doubt and worry had begun to creep into my head. I started to look for jobs, and soon, every action of mine was for Leia. How would I provide for her? It was imperative that my job could ensure that she would live in comfort. No more of this nomadic wandering, living off of only the money in our back pockets.
Finally, an offer came to me. A job dull and without passion. I worked long hours, but the most important part was the salary. With the money I earned, Leia could truly be happy.
One night, I surprised her with a home-cooked dinner. Her familiar eyes twinkled with love as we sat down to eat. It was halfway through the main course when I broke the news.
"I got a job, my love! We can finally live comfortably. As the assistant to a CEO, I’m finally able to provide for everything you could ever need."
But I was surprised when she uttered no response. Her big eyes began to fill up with tears. Quietly, she uttered her last deflated words. "I never wanted anything other than you. I was happy with the way we were, traveling through nature and learning about each other. And now, I won’t even see you for most of the day. What is the point, Asher? Why would you do this to me?"
And with that, she turned and left. I could hear her quiet sniffles all the way to the door. With a dull thud, the door closed, and she left not a final sound.
A week passed, and it was my first day on the job. I shuffled in, depressed and purposeless. If I wasn’t doing this for Leia anymore, who was I doing it for? My letter of resignation was sent in a week later. I took my money, and hopped on the nearest train. I didn’t know where I was heading, and I didn’t care. I was searching for my purpose. It had to be somewhere out there. I would find my purpose someday. But I couldn’t get over the sinking feeling that it didn’t matter anyway. For I had made a promise to Leia, and I had broken it. My love for Leia rested like hidden embers in my heart. Embers that would never be revived. I was not deserving.
