The ocean was softly lapping against the shore as Oceana sat in peace watching the calm, deep blue.

She inhaled it's salty yet sweet scent and let out a deep breath, she ran forward and jumped gracefully off the small ledge into the water. She barely made a splash as she dove in.

Resurfacing she took a deep breath and smiled, the ocean was graceful, the ocean was calm and serene. The ocean was filled with life and excitement.

"The ocean is our friend, fear not for it will always bring you back home no matter how far you go."
She remembered her father saying this to her before he passed, her mother dying when she was young. Her mother and father had loved the ocean and so does she. She is entranced by it's beauty and it's almost life-like way of being.

Oceana was one with the ocean at this moment and took a moment to think, "I love the ocean, it is my home, I love it's gentle way of lapping against the shore, the fluffy sea foam it creates when it's angry, and it's life filled depths that I could look at for hours.

With that thought she swam off towards shore, shook off and walked home.

The sea is busy. In the water, thousands of species exist in harmony (or not). Shrimp, bacteria, mussels, anemone. Jellyfish, clownfish, swordfish, sharks, even whales, crowd the ocean. The waves never stop, always going, always crashing on a beach somewhere. There are so many huge, busy ocean storms. Are tropical cyclones not busy? But Ripley's always been a busy girl. She's pretty hectic and likes to splash around in the surf. The busyness of the ocean has always intrigued her and when she isn't screaming her head off, you might be able to see her examining the tidepools for busy creatures.

The sea is colourful. Did you know there are over 1100 types of sea anemone? With all kinds of different colours and patterns! Plus the sea in itself has so much colour. It can go from a stormy grey to a luscious tropical green in a matter of minutes. Watching the sea is very entertaining and the usually over-excitable Ripley can calm herself by staring at it's swirling colours for hours on end. She really loves the stormy blue and grey colours when it's overcast, as it reminds her of herself.

The ocean brings people together. Young, old, strong and weak. Everyone becomes equal as the wide blue expanse waits in front of you. The ocean does not judge, it does not know culture, morals, beliefs. No matter who or what you are, one step in the wrong direction could pull you under. One wrong decision and the waves will swallow you whole.

The ocean is a dangerous mass. One that knows no boundaries, and cares not for what you look like or what you stand for. Everything is fair game, and Mipha wouldn't have it any other way.

Dolphins are sleek, beautiful, and majestic as they leap above the water’s surface, meanwhile deep sea creatures, like the blobfish, look completely ridiculous and as if they weren’t even real. The ocean is such a mysterious, diverse ecosystem, and that’s what Mariana really appreciates about it!

Her grandmother had brought her here every winter, and Leanne had been coming here even more often since her grandmother had passed. Her grandmother had told her of stories and legends about the ocean and it's own unique magic.

What Leanne loves most about the ocean is the waves and the tide, they remind her of her grandmother she was calm and steady, and yet sometimes spontaneous and filled with curiosity.
