Extra: Because she looks like a penguin, Bakari has always been interested in them. All species, and not just emperors, the species she resembles. Bakari was a frail and sick calf when she was first born. She fought hard and overcame this, and this fighting spirit has not left her. She now fights for those who do not have a voice. It upsets her when people do not realize the good that accredited zoos and aquariums do for animals like penguins as well as many other species in need. Many species of penguin are endangered, and many facilities have set up programs to breed colonies of birds to bolster the populations and hopefully release some penguins back to the wild as part of species survival plans. Bakari knows how urgent this is, because species like the African penguin are down to only 1% of what their population used to be! Bakari is a very intelligent cow and enjoys learning all the time. She also loves spreading her knowledge of other animal species to others, hoping to inspire more people to care for the animals around them and conservation efforts of endangered species. She can talk for hours about why penguins can’t fly but how they are instead adapted to be exceptional swimmers! She is very talkative when it comes to this because of her passion, but she tends to be pretty shy around those she doesn’t know well. When she is having a more introverted day, she loves to go to a zoo or aquarium and just sit and watch the penguins swim around and play.
(Sshjdndfknf I’m gonna cry this moo is so cute and I interned at an aquarium and my roommate worked with the lil penglings she always had the best and funniest stories about them! Also sorry for going down the educational/conservation route if that’s not ok I can delete!!)
