Journal Entry - 1 First Encounter
Well I had just lost my 27 year old TB and my mom felt bad so she decided to surprise me by getting a new horse she took me to a wild horse round up sale and i walk through all the pens she said I could pick any one of them but I didn't see none I really liked none of them that fit me until I heard a big Winnie in the back where they where unloading a beautiful Stallion out of the trailer I said that's the one he's amazing he was so beautiful just his eyes and everything he was so wild they said they hadnt found anyone to train him the basics and they just got him right off the range they hadnt found one that would take him so they said if up can brake him hes yours so i said "My Horse Trailer Is Up Front ! " i was so happy before i ever even made it home i stoped and bought him treats, blankets, hay, brushs and combs and when i got home i unloaded him in to the paddock filled his bowl with food/water and gave him apples in a bucket and as i was walking out i changed my mind and grabed a blanket and a tent and sleeped outside....

Journal Entry - 2 Gaining Trust

Today is the day it's around 6 a.m. since Journey has
finally settled into his new home now is the time for me to gain his Trust so I started off by taking him into the round pen lunging him around taking things nice and slow then I tried the forward in retreat mechanism every time he comes forward I give him a treat every time he retreats I turn my back to him eventually he got the hang of it now he's following me around like a puppy. I let him go into the pastor to let him know that I trust him he didn't go nowhere so I was pretty happy I sat on the ground to show him that I'm not trying to overpower him to show him that were equal I'm not better than him and he's not better than me I don't want to be boss I want to be a partner he came up to me and laid his head on my shoulder so i like to end the day on a good note. So I put his blanket on him come some delicious oats alfalfa cubes and nice Timothy Hay and put him in the barn in his stall and called it a day

Journal Entry - 3 introducing the saddle
It's been a few days since I've gained Journeys trust so now I'm going to try to introduce the saddle by setting it in front of his stall on the gate letting him know that nothing can hurt him after few hours we moving to the round pen I practiced putting the saddle pad on and off when he finally stoped jumping then i straped on the saddle a let go of the lead rope and let him buck himself out finally i get up onto the saddle on him back and walk him around the round pen then we moved up to a trot the to a canter then up to a gallop to reward him im making a apple, molasses, carrot shards, oats, alfalfa cubes, and barley and mixed it up an gave it to him and then i got some peachs, Apple slices, banana an made a popsicle and lord you should have seen his lips smacking it was so funny i was laughing so hard. Journey is on of my Favorite Horses at my barn he has so much personality i cant wait to wash him but he a little afraid of water so ill have to wait for a little while

Journal Entry - 4 First Friend
Well for some reason i cant get him to even go through a tiny mud puddle I've tried everything until our neighbors little girl came over with a little pony attached to a wagon Journey just love the pony they hit it off so fast it was crazy I asked her if I could borrow her Pony for a few hours first we started with the puddles the pony wouldn't go through so I tried to bribe him with some rice cakes thank Lord that pony loves food and behind the pony came Journey right through the mud puddle so then we moved on to a little ditch then to a river Shiloh of course it was amazing he just loved that pony so I got the idea he's never been around any of my other horses the little girl came and picked up her Pony and I decided did I turn him out with the other horses right when I let Journey out the gate he lifted up his head so high he was so perky he bucked and he jumped and he rolled all over the field play with the horses galloped it was so amazing to watch the funniest thing though was every time the pony comes walking down the road he goes bolting towards the to meet up with the Little Pony it's so cute sometimes the little girl will let me keep the pony there overnight or let him stay for a little while you should see them play it's so cute tomorrow's the big day so I can't wait but it's going to be bath time first I got to get the Briars out of his hair and make sure everything gets done.

Journal Entry - 5 First Bath Time
Here goes nothing today is the day I finally get to wash the stinky dirty horse the first off before I give him a bath I want to come out his hair and get all the Briars and pick out his hose make sure he's all clean before golf beforehand clean make sure he does not have no matted fur Comal all the winter coat all that fluffy hair so I start off with the comb to help me get some of them Briars out of his mane his mane & tail was covered with them once i finished i used a hoofpick to clean his hooves he wasn't to happy about it then i forgot to grab all the soap so i had to run all the way back to the tack room to get it when i got back he was gone he had done ran to the pasture and was running back and fourth with the little pony so i had to chase him down finally i caught him and put him in the wash stall and started hosing him down i scrubbed him down with soap and water finally i got to see his beautiful coat WOW it was totally worth every second even tho i still have a little more work to do with this pretty boy a polished his Hooves to make them look as shiny and pretty combeb his hair to make it look so perfect I wrote them down with some coconut oil after I was all done I was thinking he was such a good boy I think it's time to go for a ride not in the round pen or Arena a trail ride I text him up and out the door we went but then he stopped just stopped I thought he was crazy then I knew the pony still here so I ended up calling the little girl and asking her if I could take him with me after I open up the gate he finally decided to move on we came up to a little tree and I was just going to go around it but of course the pony decided to jump over it So journey went right along with him I slid right off the back of the Saddle boy did it hurt then the pony ran over to me a licked my face yuck slobber all over my face so i had to get up and saddle up an ride i think im ready to head home once we got home i rinsed Journey down and put his blanket on him and put him out in the pasture and i put a small blanket and that darn pony and turned him out as well i got the boys some dinner and some water and boy was they happy
