Seryth was born into the kingdom of Aresdon as the king and queen's second son, just before the queen's untimely death, and as one might expect a spoiled little prince to be who realized that his position was different to that of those in the rest of the world, he became what most would probably see as a typical little prince, who was given even more freedom than their elder brother, because he would very unlikely had the throne. He cared not for the minds or thoughts of anyone; to him, he was the prince, soon to be king of it all, why should he bother himself with the opinions of those he saw as ants when compared next to him? He wanted the world to bow at his feet, the earth to move at his command, the mountains to part for him and the tides to make way, but then, something changed. A shift happened, expected by no one, not even himself, and he began to care more for others, what they felt and thought, and he was different to the boy he had once been. He used to hate stories above everything else; they were tales of other's great deeds and heroic adventures, none of his own, and he would have preferred his grueling and dragging princely lessons that left him bored out of his mind, to hearing a story. Now, however, he hung on their every word, and eagerly awaited his time for sleep to hear more. He didn't know why he suddenly liked them, but he did, and he never wanted to let them go. Seryth began to develop a particular fondness for music and instruments as well, and as he grew older, into adulthood, he learned to play many- though his favorite was his lute, a final gift from his father before his death-, and fell in love with the way music could enhance and bring even more life to a story, where simple words could not. Unfortunately, things took a turn again, and his father passed away, leaving his elder brother, Aloysius as king. In a grief, he ran from the castle, into the city streets, and happened to stumble upon a tavern, hidden away in a place he had never seen before. His curiosity briefly won out over his grief, and he entered. What he was greeted with changed his life forever. There was a man, standing on a table, telling a story of his father, of his kindness and great deeds. His movements were animated, and bright, and while the story wasn't quite accurate, no one seemed to care, including himself. Everyone within the tavern was listening, some crowding around the table, and other listening more peacefully as they nursed a drink in a corner, or by the ledge where the drinks were served. They hung on each word, and the teller drew them closer with each pause, a perfect performer capturing the crowd, and he was pulled in. Before he realized it, he was with the crowd surrounding him, pushing his way closer, to better hear the tale. He stayed there for hours, as more and more people began to tell their stories, and he only left when the sun was beginning to rise, and he had been rather unceremoniously shooed out, stumbling over himself on his small, dainty paws, paws he had gotten from his mother. He left the tavern with an idea, and returned to the castle to collect his lute, and a few other things, and left without a word, not once looking back. He only told one soul where he was going, the kind maester, who had been his teacher, and old friend, where he was going.
For almost as long as he could remember, his entire world had been stories, and music, and his love for them both, and it was time he went out, and told his own.

xxx"I don't want to sleep!" He rolled over in bed, paws pushing at the covers in the way a cat might knead them from above as they tangled around him, trying to free himself from their hold.
xxx"You have to sleep now little lord, you've got a big day ahead of you tomorrow." Her voice was calm, undistracted, and focused, even though her focus seemed to be on the needles she was using to idly knit something, as she did most nights when she put him to bed.
xxx"But I don't care about tomorrow, I want to play now!" He let out a whine, still trying to untangle himself from the pile of blankets that towered on his bed.
xxx"You cannot play tonight, little lord, it's too late for that. Why don't I tell you a story instead?"
xxx"I don't want to hear your stories, I hate your stories!"
xxx"I know a story about a boy who hated stories." She didn't even look up from her knitting, the only sound after she finished falling to the clicking and clacking of the needles as he frowned.
xxx"That sounds even more boring than the rest."
xxxFinally she looked up, her project falling to her lap while still in her pawss as she let out a large, heavy sigh.
xxxThere wasn't any hurt upon her features, but she seemed tired, and unsure of what to do with this little prince who cared for no story, and was hurting, deep down without even realizing it, at the lack of attention from his father, as the king spent his days grooming Aloysius to be king.

xxxSun shown brightly across his fur, but he didn't feel it, he was too focused on the trail of ants he was watching return to their hill, and far too deep in thought to even see that the sun had come out from the clouds it had been covered by earlier that day. He was out in the far courtyard; there had always been more bugs there, as he had found, and they were something he would watch when he wanted to think. They didn't skitter away in terror when he was near like squirrels and birds did; they just ignored him, or worked around with, and carried on with their day. The grass was a pretty green, a deep contrast from the brown earth and the reddened brown color of the ants, and the cream colored bread crumbs he had dropped for them. He didn't even know if they liked bread, but they had taken it, so he assumed they did, though he wasn't entirely sure. Maybe they just took anything that was a food? Was there some other use for it other than to eat? He didn't know, no one seemed to care enough to tell him about an ant. One little ant deviated from the path for a moment, stumbling around a weird clot of dirt he hadn't noticed before, scrambling around in what looked like a panic, until it found the trail of it's brethren again, and returned on it's way. Did ants ever feel bad about things? Or were their lives too busy, too filled with order to care about such things? He wished his life was like that, he didn't like the feeling of guilt, and it stung at him even worse than the time he had stepped on a needle.
xxxHe had been feeling a bit.. bad lately for how he had treated Old Nan, and all the rude words he had thrown at her stories. Something had changed with them lately, she had been telling new stories that had actually been capturing his attention, drawing him in and getting him excited, he had even begun to look forward to his time to sleep so he could hear them. Maybe she hadn't even started telling new ones, maybe they were the same ones they had always been, maybe it had been he who had changed. Either way, something had changed, and now he felt awful for the way he had previously been.
King's closest advisor looking for the young prince for the start of the day's lessons, finds him sitting in courtyard
xxxHis face was scrunched up in heavy concentration, eyes staring forward, but not seeing, not coosing to gaze at anything in particular.
xxx"Do you think sparrows have feelings?" It wasn't exactly a lie, but it wasn't exactly a truth either. He had been thinking about that too, just not as much as he had been pondering his guilt.
xxx"Your.. highness...?"
xxx"Old Nan told me a story about a sparrow this morning. I swiped at a sparrow when I was younger once, do you think I hurt it's feelings?" He looked up, slowly turning to face the older kalon. xxx"Do you think it's still cross with me?"
xxxThe advisor was taken aback. "I s-suppose it wouldn't, you're the prince, I'm sure it would forgive you."
xxx"But it shouldn't forgive me because I am the prince." The advisor blinked, and Seryth absentmindedly picked a blade of grass from the earth to fiddle with.
xxx"I suppose that's right." Seryth noted that he didn't really seem to know at all what to say to that.

here are some blips of stories I didn't get to finish in time ahhh, that I still would like to save ahhh
Even the thickest of trees can be blown over in a fearsome breeze, but no matter the harshness or ferocity of the wind, the mountains stand tall, unmoving. When he was young, he wanted to be like a mountain, but now he wanted to be more like a reed. Reeds bent with the breeze, and if they didn't learn to bend with it, they would snap. He wasn't a mountain, he could never be one; he wasn't rooted thickly into the ground and melded with the world, he had to learn to bend, or else he would snap too.
Everything changed the night he visited the tavern hidden away in the city, tucked in a corner away from everyone's sight.
(He only knew it was there ____
